Harry whimpered as he scrunched further into the corner of his cupboard, trying, unsuccessfully, to escape from the grasping hand of his uncle. Harry didn’t want to hurt anymore; he knew he couldn’t take much more.
The grasping hand closed around his ankle, and Harry heard bones break and felt a terrible wave of pain.
He floated in a haze of pain until he was thrown upon a bed, and then Harry struggled. He couldn’t take it again, not again.
There was a bright green light, and a heavy weight on top of him. The weight was shoved to the side and Harry looked up into cold silver eyes.
”Potter.” The owner of those eyes spat, grabbing him by his hair, “Come. My Lord awaits you.” The man began to drag him away by his hair. Harry struggled, and felt a warm hum surround him. The hand let go of him, and he distantly heard shouting. The warm hum increased to a roar, and Harry knew no more.
KAGOMEKAGOMEKAGOMEKAGOMEKAGOMEKAGOMEKAGOMEKAGOME
Kagome sighed and twisted her back, smiling as she heard the multiple ‘pops’. She then set the broom she’d been using to sweep the shrine steps with back into the well house, which was now little more than a storage area.
As she was putting the broom in its little niche, she felt an odd feeling in the pit of her stomach. It didn’t feel like youki, but it didn’t feel like holy magic either. It didn’t feel like anything she’d felt before. Just after she felt the pull of the odd energy, a soft ‘thump’ reached her ears from the direction of the well. She quickly dropped the broom and rushed to the lip of the well.
She gasped as she looked down into the well, horrified at the sight that greeted her. A boy lay in the bottom of the well, wearing only a torn t-shirt and pair of shorts. Blood covered his body, and even from here she could tell he had several broken bones.
Kagome scrambled down the ladder, yelling for Shippou to come and help her as she did so. Once at the bottom, she picked him up, wincing at how light he was, and carried him up easily. And it wasn’t just because of her training either.
SEVERUSSEVERUSSEVERUSSEVERUSSEVERUSSEVERUSSEVERUSSEVERUS
Severus looked around the crater that was once Little Whinging, Surrey, a more somber expression than usual on his face. They had been searching the ruins for several hours, and had yet to find Harry Potter. They had, however, found Malfoy, Macnair, Goyle, Nott, Crabbe, and Greengrass’ burnt and bloody corpses. All these men carried the Dark Mark, and their families were now being detained and questioned.
Severus sighed. The whole place stank of blood and smoke, and he could sense Potter’s magical signature over everything. He knew that Potter had done this. Hell, everyone knew Potter had done this. What nobody knew was why. That and where the insufferable brat was now.
“Attention! May I have your attention please?!” Albus Dumbledore called; a sonorous spell obviously in place.
“There is nothing more we can do here. Everyone please go home. Should any progress be made, you shall be informed.” A whispered, Finite Incantatem and the spell was ended. Severus watched the old Headmaster walk through the crowd straight towards him as everyone around them began disappearing, filling the air with a loud series of ‘crack’s.
“Severus, my dear boy, have you found anything?” Dumbledore croaked; his voice hoarse with the aftereffects of the Sonorous.
“I’m afraid not, Headmaster. All I have managed to locate is a faint magical signature. It will take a great deal of time for me to trace it.” Severus said; his voice low and his eyes scanning the area. Dumbledore smiled gently, like a grandfather would to his favourite grandson.
“Very good, Severus, very good. Remus shall assist you. No arguments, dear boy. You will need all the help you can get.” He ordered sternly, the twinkle in his eyes blaring full force. Severus sighed, but nodded his assent.
“Very well, Headmaster. I will trail it as far as I can tonight, and I will return to the school in the morning.” The Headmaster smiled, and disappeared with a soft ‘pop’.
KOUGAKOUGAKOUGAKOUGAKOUGAKOUGAKOUGAKOUGAKOUGA
Kouga turned over in his bed, wrapping an arm around his mate, Ayame, as he tried to figure out what had woken him. Once he pinpointed the source of his unease, he cursed. Hurriedly, he got up and began getting dressed in his dark room, ignoring his mate as she sleepily questioned him.
He dearly hoped he would reach Kagome in time.
He hoped this feeling was not as terrible as he felt it was.
HARRYHARRYHARRYHARRYHARRYHARRYHARRYHARRYHARRYHARRY
Harry woke up warm and more comfortable than he could ever remember being. In fact, Harry was so comfortable, he found he didn’t want to move, or even open his eyes. But something was calling him, telling him he needed to wake up.
“Onegai sameru! Onegai! Otaku beki sameru!” A worried female voice was crying, telling him something. Harry couldn’t make sense of it, and he felt the darkness reaching up to pull at him once more.
But then, when he could almost feel his senses failing and his heart stopping, the warm hum returned, flooding his body with pain and understanding, telling him if he fell into the darkness he would never be able to come back.
“-ou must wake up! Please!” That same voice called, and this time the warm hum made sure he understood, and allowed him to do as the voice asked. He opened his eyes to look into stormy blue-grey pools that held such worry, and Harry knew it was all for him. Harry felt his lips curl up into a smile, and reached his hand up feebly, trying to comfort this woman who was so obviously afraid for him.
KAGOMEKAGOMEKAGOMEKAGOMEKAGOMEKAGOMEKAGOMEKAGOME
Kagome felt the tears streaming down her cheeks as her magic entwined with the boys, finally breaking through the many shields that kept her from saving this poor boy. She continued calling out to him, desperate to keep him from falling into the darkness that was death.
She was so relieved when he opened his eyes, a slight smile spreading across his face. She felt more tears fall as he tried to raise his hand. She twined her fingers with his and held it to her face as she continued to pour healing energy into his frail body, hoping with all her might that he would live.
Kagome didn’t know why this boy mattered so much to the world, but she could feel her magic’s frenzy to keep this child from dieing, to keep this world from falling into darkness. When she sensed that both her magic and his had done all that they could in healing this boy, she pulled her magic back, thankful to see that his bones were back in place and most of the abrasions and cuts were now mere scars. She smiled down at the boy.
“Go back to sleep, Rakurai. I’ll watch over you.” The boy smiled up at her, and closed his eyes, his hand going slack in hers. Kagome leaned over and placed a kiss on that blood covered scar, putting a shield on the evil magic that she could feel running through it.
SHIPPOUSHIPPOUSHIPPOUSHIPPOUSHIPPOUSHIPPOUSHIPPOUSHIPPOU
Shippou sighed in relief as the boy fell asleep. He had been so worried when his mother had called to him from the wellhouse. He had been just as worried when he saw her bring up that half dead boy from out of the well. He was still worried, worried that now that they had healed Rakurai, as his uncle had called him, the boy would hurt his mother.
Shippou sent his mother and his uncle off to bed, and sat next to the bed in the room that used to be his mother’s grandfather’s room. But that had been before the attack, and before they had lost most Kagome’s family. Now this room was their sickbay, of sorts.
As he sat there, watching this comatose child with the strangest aura he’d ever felt, Shippou remembered.
FLASHBACK
A shock of white hair danced on the wind, cut from Inuyasha’s head in the scuffle. Blood, so much blood, and evil, evil laughter as screams rent the air. The youngest boy, Souta, running past, trying to save his mother from Hakudoshi, only to be struck by Kagura, tears clouding his vision as he still tried to reach his mother.
Shippou was only eight himself. He cried as he watched the slaughter from under the Goshinboku were his mother had put him. He cried as he watched the evil spider hanyou cut into his mother while taunting Inuyasha. He cried as he pulled Souta under the roots of the Goshinboku with him, a last ditch effort to protect the poor boy.
And then he felt it. His mother’s aura exploded as her body glowed a bright and blinding white. And then it was over. Naraku was gone from where he had stood, as were his children, obliterated by the sheer amount of concentrated miko chi.
That day, Kagome buried her mother and her grandfather
That day, Shippou gave her everything he could to make sure she would not be alone.
That day, he was no longer an orphan.

SEVERUSSEVERUSSEVERUSSEVERUSSEVERUSSEVERUSSEVERUSSEVERUS
Severus stumbled into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry at eight o’clock in the morning, exhausted, frustrated, and in a very bad mood. Still, the dark haired wizard made his way to the Headmaster’s office to give his report.
As he got off the staircase in front of the door to the barmy old man’s office, he sighed, collecting himself. He knew that Lupin would be in there to hear his report.
Once he felt he was sufficiently in control of himself, Severus opened the door, not bothering to knock, and went in.
“Ah, here he is! Severus, my dear boy, come in!” Dumbledore said happily, turning towards him. Sure enough, Remus Lupin sat in a chair right in front of Dumbledore’s desk.
“If you don’t mind, Headmaster, I would like to keep this as short as possible.” Severus snapped irritably. The twinkle in Dumbledore’s eyes dimmed slightly, but he nodded.
“Of course, Severus. Why don’t you tell us what you’ve found?” He said. Severus took a fortifying breath, and began.
“That crater was not of Harry Potter’s doing. At least, not of his will. I believe his magic took control of a situation that Potter could not handle. Namely the Death Eater attack. I believe his magic attempted to destroy Potter’s foes, and accidentally annihilated his relatives in the process. Upon realizing its mistake and the imminent danger to Potter, it transported him out of there. The problem now is where to. I was able to track the magic to an island in the Pacific, an island called Honshu, of Japan. I narrowed it down to a fairly small area, but it might take some time to actually find the boy.” Severus had, at some point, sat down in a chair, and was leaning forward with his arms on his knees. He found that he couldn’t force himself to remain upright any longer.
“This is good, right? I mean, Honshu isn’t all that large, and it shouldn’t take too long to search the area, right?” Lupin asked, worry apparent in his tone. Severus snorted.
“Honshu is the largest of the Islands of Japan. The area I narrowed it down to is between Maebashi, Utsunomiya, Yokohama, and Nagoya. He could be anywhere in the middle of that area. And that’s if we’re lucky.” Severus snarled.
“I shall garner several teams, and we’ll search the entire area thoroughly. Don’t worry, boys. We’ll find him if he’s there.” Dumbledore said comfortingly. Severus rolled his eyes and stood, bowing stiffly.
“If you don’t mind, I shall be heading to bed now. Good night Headmaster, Lupin.” He nodded to them, and turned to leave.
“Ah, Severus, please be so kind as to meet at Headquarters tonight at nine o’clock. I shall be assigning teams and areas to search then. Good night, dear boy.” Severus nodded without turning, and swiftly stalked out the door.

Sesshoumaru pushed aside the paperwork that he had been dealing with for the better part of the night and let his head fall into his hands. He was worried about Kagome, though he wouldn’t admit it. He had felt something earlier, a disturbance. He decided that he would go to check up on his dear friend in the morning. For now though, his bed called to him.
