Never leave me

Harry sat in Dumbledore's office with a cup of tea in his hand. He was waiting for the last meeting of the Order of the Phoenix. Harry sighed and looked around the office trying to keep his mind off the up and coming battle that was sure to drain him. He smiled as he thought about finally getting this all over and never having to worry about Voldemort again. Sighing he looked around the room trying to think of something else. The tea wasn’t distracting enough and he already knew about all the little gadgets and things that were on stands in Dumbledore’s office. He sighed and leaned back in the chair trying to find something interesting; closing his eyes, a sigh left his lips. He was bored and not in the best of moods. Hearing a tapping on the window Harry spotted the owl perched out side the window. He’d found something that would keep his attention, for as long as she would stay at least.

"Hedwig!"

He smiled and walked over to the window opening it for her. She hooted happily, lovingly nipping at Harry’s fingers, as he attempted to pet her soft feathers, he cooing making him smile. He noticed then that there was a letter attached to her leg, and assuming that the letter was for him, he attempted to take it from Hedwig’s leg. He received a hard nip on the finger in return, for being too rough in his eagerness. He sighed slipping his finger between his lips and sucking on the injured flesh. Leaving the bird alone after glaring at it and sucking on his bloody finger he moved over to the seat in front of the Headmasters desk. Sighing he sucked the blood from his finger plopping in to the chair and pulling his legs up to his chest. He was bored, so so bored. Hearing the soft click of the door opening Harry Noticed as the room slowly filled with Order members. He smiled and looked around. Hearing someone clear there throat he turned slightly in his chair, a grin broke out over his lips.

"Remus!"

Harry jumped up and threw his arms around the werewolf who had become something like his older brother. He smiled still hugging on Remus; he looked around as the rest of the room slowly filled with all seven of the Weasley children plus Arthur, Molly, Minerva, Severus, Mad Eye, Tonks and several other people. Hermione entered the room looking around while smiling. She took a seat next and smiled over at Harry and Remus. She smiled and looked over at Ron as he took her hand in his. The red head turned beet red and Molly smiled happily hugging Hermione in a motherly congratulatory manor. Harry smiled while looking at Hermione and Ron, although inside he was feeling jealous, he wanted love like that, he wanted to see the sun the moon and the stars in someone’s eyes like them. It didn’t phase anyone else that the happy couple couldn’t take their eyes off each other. Luckily Harry didn’t have to wait long to be greeted by Dumbledore. As the Professor walked in everyone sat down while he took his seat at the desk reserved for the Headmaster. Harry smiled at the old man who smiled in return and looked around the room with a sigh.

"It is with a heavy heart that I divulge the information that the final battle will be within a week’s time and will most likely happen at Hogwarts. We have many leaks in this school that are telling all that I tell them. There is nothing I can do to stop this battle, all we can do is prepare, Harry you are to attend classes during the day and at night you will be attending to your Defense studies. You will be exempt for all homework and you will study Defense in ALL of your free time. Do you understand me?” Harry nodded. The Headmaster continued a sad look on his face.

“We don’t have time to play around anymore there are many things I need to tell you all. The wards are going to be strengthened but to do this I must use a lot of magic, so I am not to be disturbed at all this week is that understood from everyone? Minerva will deal with any and all problems that will arise, as will Severus. Please seek them out if you need them."

The room was filled with "Yes sir"‘s and "Of course Albus“’s.

"The new wards are pulling magic off of Minerva and I, it is essential that we stay within the school to keep the children safe, there are prices to pay, to have the wards protect the school Minerva and myself will have to sacrifice our magic, during the battle it is immensely important that we do not get injured. If we fall all this weeks work will be worthless, the wards will be disabled along with the founder’s wards. I will be altering them to keep the castle as well as its precious cargo safe. There’s nothing you can do now but pray and say your good-byes. However, you are not to inform the other students I cannot deal with a wide spread panic at this time. Now please take your leave, god speed, to you all. Minerva if you would please stay, that would be lovely my dear.”

Voldemort stood, his eyes meet Harry’s. Draco stood on the Dark Lords left side, while his father, Lucius stood on his right. This was the end; this was what it all came down to. The last 17 years of life were meant to prepare for this battle for this moment. It was judgment day and he was to be the judge. Dumbledore was dead; Bellatrix Lestrange and the all of the Weasley’s were dead. Everyone was dead. That is except for the four men that were looking at each other. The tension in the room was so thick it was tangible; you could see a slight shake being to take effect on Lucius’ wand hand. He was beginning to get tired, and Harry couldn’t blame him. Hermione had put up a hell of a fight, to the point where it was by mere chance that Lucius had won. Harry’s heart had fallen as he watched Ron die. His best friend and his first love. The only person he thought he would ever care about. It didn’t matter that Ron and Hermione had been so happy together, it didn’t matter that neither of them were around to hold each other to deal with this pain. It just mattered that he won this, that he finished this for good. The sun was setting as all wands were drawn. Three were pointed at Harry, while only one pointed at Voldemort. Harry locked eyes with Draco and he saw something he had never thought he would ever see. Compassion, fear, a mix of emotions that were so clear in Draco’s eyes, it took Harry’s breath away, the world just seamed to slow as Draco hissed out those two words that ended everything, Lucius fell he knees hitting the stone floor before the rest of his body, he seamed to crumble. Draco‘s actions startled the Dark Lord, he didn‘t know which boy to face, which one to kill first. The thought that he might not ever succeed ever crossed his twisted mind. This was Harry’s chance, and his world was spinning. This had to be done, it had to be ended. This chapter in his life was going to be closed and another one was going to be opened. This wasn’t up for debate anymore, taking a deep breathing and preparing him self. Harry looked in to the demon eyes of Voldemort and said those two words that ended the dark; Harry hadn’t caught the flash of green that had been sent his way at the same time, the two lights hit each other, causing a sonic boom that was felt all over the world. The light that disappeared from the collision was blinding, knocking out anything and everything in its path as it spread.

They were surrounded by darkness, eyes locking onto each other, showing the hatred both men felt for the other. Hearts racing, the world outside the bubble of their existence stopped. They were sounded in a dome of light, which light the once magnificent Great Hall Draco watched in terror a mantra of, "Oh god Harry, kill him! Don’t leave me," running through his head. Inside Harry’s bubble of existence, he could hear it; the Phoenix song that came from both wands. Fawkes was watching over Harry and he could feel a warm breeze flow through him. Like a brick, it hit him; he was going to win this. He was going to end it all. He was going to be free; every other soul that was enslaved to this man was going to be free. It brought a smile to his face as he looked at the man with eyes of a Snake in front of him. There was nothing more then pure hatred running through Voldemort’s blood. Harry could feel it, he could feel the quiver in Voldemort’s breath, he could feel the pain in his scar, and he could feel the ripple of the power around him. He could feel everything. It was amazing, it was like he was on a high, he was floating and his world had no end, his peacefulness had nothing in its way.

"I forgive you Tom," Harry said softly.

The Dark Lord stepped back at the boys’ statement, which took him by surprises. ’oh how naive can this boy be’ Tom thought to him self. He couldn’t feel the ripple of the dome, he couldn’t hear the phoenix song, he couldn’t feel the breeze, he saw a boy, an innocent child before him, and he knew, just by looking at that child that he was going to win, he was going to be free of this menace he was going to be able to take over the world and not have a care in the world. This child was gone for and that brought a smile on his lips. Then the words sunk in and he couldn’t help the laugh that feel from his lips, he couldn’t help the mirth that was flowing through his veins. The boy he had tried to kill for the last 17 years forgave him. What was the world coming to? Of course he didn’t believe in Harry as the boy believed in him self, and he didn’t know that the willing contribution to both of there wands was on Harry’s side, he didn’t know a wand could take a side.

"As long as you can forgive me," Harry said as Tom’s wand started to heat up to the point where he could no longer hold it. He glared at the wand, mentally trying to cool it, to no avail. He hissed at the pain as he felt the wand burning his hand, at the smell of burning flesh he dropped the wand. How had the boy bested him? How had be taken control? Things weren’t fitting together to well, this wasn’t supposed to happen this way. The Dark lord was distracted from his thoughts when he noticed that something had changed, he could feel the ripple of magic he could feel the pain, the searing pain of his flesh being boiled from the inside, as the green light of death began shooting around in the bubble, off shoots of it hitting him as they Rica shade from the original source until it slowly disappeared into the bodies of the men that had once been sounded by it.

Draco paled as he watched the goings on, Harry bloody Potter was besting the dark lord. The one person he had been forced to love, forced to belong to was being bested by a teenager. He watched as the evil man was bested by a mere boy, a smile on his face as he saw the monster drop his wand, his heart was speeding up as he noticed that the dome was shattering, that the green light that had once been there enclosure was shattering apart and finding purchase in the dark lord. Draco saw Harry fall to the ground. Clutching at his self, holding on to him self until the darkness took him away. Voldemort stood there looking shocked as a scream ripped through him his eyes fluttering once before the main light shoot through him turning him to dust.

Harry lay there not breathing, his heart long from beating. Draco couldn’t get to him, he couldn’t get close, he couldn’t save his savior, he couldn‘t help Harry. Every time he got close, he was thrown back. He lay there on the other side of the room after being thrown to the wall with tears falling from his eyes. He couldn’t save the one he loved.

"Merlin Harry, don’t leave me! Dear god Harry, please don’t leave me!"

He screamed as he moved back over to Harry, or as close as he could get. The tears were flowing freely now as Draco sat there knowing it was over; knowing nothing was going to be the same. He knew that the person he had given up what life he had known was gone; he couldn’t look at the body of the boy on the floor. Not with out the tears falling harder from his eyes. He wanted to disappear to wherever Harry was. He held on to his chest as it suddenly began to get very tight, his heart hurt, his hopes and dreams were shattered.

Harry lay in a land of black. He opened his eyes and looked around. He could barley see. A black fog was surrounded him, floating around his being and making it difficult to do much of anything. It cut painfully through his lungs with each breath. He could hear sobbing and it cut into to him through the blackness. It sounded so familiar, made him feel as if he needed to be there, and needed to hold the owner of the tears. He needed to be there, needed to kiss away the pain, but he didn’t know where he was.

"Draco," he whispered walking to where he heard the crying, he knew he would risk anything for Draco, new that he would give him the life that the boy needed. He’d just never known that he’d have a chance to. Looking around him, he wondered if he really did. This didn’t look or feel like Hogwarts, it didn’t look for feel like anywhere other then some strange abyss in some strange time zone. He walked closer to the sound of Draco’s tears, but the phoenix song stopped him in his tracks. He didn’t know which way to go to the crying of his desired one or to the sound of the Phoenix. Did he want to follow a path that held love and devotion or to one that held peace and harmony, he didn’t know which to choose, one would hold difficulties, he began to walk towards the sound of the crying, but he couldn’t, he couldn’t risk going back not to a world where Voldemort might still be alive. He took a deep sharp breath and turned towards the phoenix song.

"I’m sorry Draco, I love you."

Harry began to walk towards the phoenix song, as the black fog turned to blue then became more and more pale fading to white.

Draco sat there with Harry’s head cradled in his lap. He was running his fingers along the boys cheek and through his messy hair, he was whimpering in the back of his throat, he couldn’t take this it was killing him. He wanted to end it all, he wanted to run away, but he knew he had to be strong, had to make sure that Voldemort was dead. Harry might have been gone but Draco couldn’t let anyone else suffer like he had. He was going to take it upon himself to fight for the light, to keep this world clean from the death eater filth. Running his fingers through the boy’s hair, he took a deep shaky breath. The tears had long since passed. He stroked his beloved Harry’s cheek as he whimpered in agony.

”Please come back to me Harry! I love you! I need you. Please Harry I killed my father to save you! God Harry please come back to me!"

Draco kissed Harry’s cold lips not able to accept the fact that his Harry was gone. He knew he had to but it wouldn’t sink in. the fact that Harry Potter, the savior of the Wizarding world was dead, that he was gone and not coming back. It was too real; Draco refused to accept that reality. Snape stood at the doorway to the Great Hall watching Draco. Watching the pain the boy was going through, he was amazed at the pain, the hurt, and the emotions the boy was showing. He’d never have thought that Draco had that many emotions in him, His heart reached out for the boy. Severus looked over his shoulder as he heard the sound of wings; he nodded to the phoenix and let the bird land where it wanted. He gave a slight twitch when the bird determined his shoulder a suitable rest. Fawkes perched on his shoulder and opening his beak, he sang a soft song. The notes spoke of a deep pain, of serenity, of peacefulness, one would never experience, but would only hope to achieve. He could guide the planets to perfect alignment just from the elegant harmony. Draco continued to sit there with Harry’s head in his lap, as he looked at the boy wondering how it was that he had never before known he had harbored such feelings of love for him. He had hurt Harry so much over the years. In the end, he had tried to redeem himself. Hoping there was a way that he could show Harry that he loved him more then any one would know, more then he himself even knew. He sighed before kissing Harry once again. He knew it was weird; he knew that if anyone around were alive he would be considered a freak, but he needed this, he needed to feel those lips against his. He needed to know that this wasn’t just a dream that these feelings were real. Sighing he moved to stand noticing that he was still wearing his silver dragon ring. He’d been giving the ring by his father when they had been on a trip to Italy, he had wanted the ring so bad, and his father had told him no. It had been the first time hadn’t received something that he had wanted. It had been two weeks, from the day when he woke up to find the ring on his pillow. He had bounded down the stairs and in a show of very un-Malfoyish behavior; he hugged his father and thanked him. He slowly slipped it on to one of Harry’s cold fingers. Knowing that it always being with the boy would me that he would always be there, even in Harry’s death Draco would be there. He would stand beside the hero and keep him company. Kissing his forehead Draco sat Harry’s head down on the cold stone floor and watched him. He kissed Harry on the forehead one last time, then his cold lips before he slowly stood up, turning to leave. He walked briskly away from the body he couldn’t do this; he hesitated and looked back at Harry, wishing that they could be together.

++*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*++

Harry walked through the fading blue fog his eyes fluttering shut as the fog turned to smoke that relieved the burn in his nose and throat. He let his eyes flutter open not knowing where he was, he scanned the room slightly confused as to why heaven looked like the great hall, and not the good great hall either but the sad, devastated, war stricken version of the great hall. Draco kept walking thinking he was hearing something but knowing in his heart that there was nothing to hear but the click of his shoes on the obliterated stone. Silent tears fell from Draco’s eyes as he walked away from the life he could have had, had it not been for the manic he had once considered his lord. Again that sound, it was like a cough, stopping in his tracks he listened closely, he had herd it! Could it be that someone else that was in the hall survived? He had just been with Harry, but there was no way Harry could be alive. He shrugged it off letting more tears fall from his eyes until he heard it, a voice whispered upon someone’s lips. He turned to see Harry’s left hand on his chest, rising and falling very slowly, His breath caught in his throat and he cried freely. He slowly walked towards Harry. He didn’t know what to think, he was scared so scared and yet at the same time he was so happy, so glad that the boy came back to him. Was he just imagining things? Was he hoping so much that Harry came back to him that he was seeing things?

"Harry?" Draco’s voice was quiet and his fear cut threw his tone.

He sighed and looked around wishing that he knew what was going on. He heard another cough, saw the chest rise, and fall violently. Draco walked faster, sitting down next to Harry. His tears slowly died out as he saw the ‘Boy Wonder’ was breathing. He took Harry’s left hand and looked at the ring that had been moved to Harry’s ring finger. Draco smiled and looked down at the ‘Boy Who Lived’. It was amazing to look in to those green eyes, but it was even more amazing to have them staring back. Draco was in wonderland and he wasn’t going to give that up. He gave a soft smile, being careful not to touch Harry, or injure him. He didn’t want to lose him now that he had just gotten him back.

"Harry I love you. I don’t know what I would have done if you died. I honestly don’t know how I would have survived," Draco whispered. Harry coughed and held onto Draco’s hand.

"I won’t ever leave you"

Harry reached up and brought Draco’s lips down to his own and they kissed. It was like lightning it shot through Draco’s body, he could feel the tingle from the kiss, all the way to his toes, and he didn’t want to pull away, to disengage this amazing sensation. It felt like he was finally home. Draco slowly pulled away, tears of joy running down his cheeks as he looked at his lover, Harry was amazing, with all the dust and grim covering him, and with his hair having a white coating of dusk on it, Draco was amazed at how good he still looked.. He slipped his hands under Harry’s body lifting him, and smiling at the boy when he wrapped his arms around Draco’s neck. He didn’t want to shock Harry so a soft kiss to his lips was the only warning he got before they apperated away to Saint Mungo’s in London.

The place seemed empty, almost as if there wasn’t anyone left; the normally busy halls were deserted. The battle had only taken place in the castle, albeit there a mass number of people that had engaged in the battle on both sides. In years to come, it would be prove that this battle was worse in death count then the two previous wars. It would also be found that o third of the deaths were of children who had been caught up in the crossfire, or were fighting. With everyone and everything in that, castle dead or ruined except Snape Draco and Harry there wasn’t really anyone left to be rushed to the hospital. Draco wondered if the world around them even knew that the battle had taken place. He wondered if they had known about all the fighting, and all the people, all the death. Draco kicked the Saint Mungo’s doors yelling for help as Harry held on to him drifting in and out of consciousness. A few of his ribs were broken and his head was bleeding, it seamed that what had originally seamed not so bad, was getting worse Harry’s injures hadn’t reared there ugly little heads until he had been holding him. Draco assumed that the apparition didn’t help in any way. A nurse was shushing him, and all he wanted to do was deck the women as she just kept telling him to shush, when she noticed who it was in Draco’s arms her eyes grew wide and a giant smile played upon her lips. She seamed very happy to have the privilege to help the savior although her outright questions were really starting drive Draco up a wall. However, he hadn’t faced anything yet, not until she dropped the bomb

“Has he fallen yet?" she gasped.

Draco glared at the women. Yelling at her now.

"Yes! The bloody Dark Lord has fallen! Now if you don’t help out Harry I will kill you all!" Draco hissed the last part out to the women and her face fell as she saw the extent of Harry’s injuries. Eight other Medi-witches and three Doctors walked over to Draco taking Harry from his arms, while leading Draco off in to some waiting room to wait for the news on his lover’s condition. He stayed for as long as he could only leaving to shower and grab a bite to eat. The doctors saw how vigilant he was, staying with Harry when he was allowed and staying in the visitors room when he was not. He wouldn’t leave the hospital unless it was necessary. Therefore, when three days had passed the doctor who was overseeing Harry was more then willing to give Draco the good news. Harry was well enough to go home, to be with out being watched and within a few weeks, he would be his old self, minus the hideous scar and the burden on his life.

Draco was grinning like a fool when he bounded in to Harry’s room’s and told his love the good news, Harry was just as happy and ready to leave the hospital. Leaving the hospital was very different they had expected it; standing outside the door was a hoard of camera’s and wizards all of which were talking quietly until the couple walked out of the front doors. They were swarmed by the presses, having questions thrown one right after the other.

"Mr. Potter! Mr. Malfoy! What was it like when the Dark Lord fell?”

"How did he fall?"

"Did it hurt?"

"The Wizarding World wants to know why you survived, Mr. Malfoy!"

The questions kept coming pissing Draco off and making Harry very dizzy. Draco pulled him closer hearing only one question of all of them.

"Are you in love?"

Harry smiled at the man standing in the back who had asked the question. Harry nodded and looked up at Draco pulling the love of his life as close as he could before kissing him. Picture upon picture was taken as the two walked towards Diagon Alley hand-in-hand.
