You Have Been The One

It would have been the end of Harry Potter’s seventh year at Hogwarts, but instead he stood ready for the battle of his life. With the help of Ron and Hermione the Horocruxes had been destroyed, and Voldemort weakened. Now was the time to fight Voldemort and Harry knew it.
He sat once again in the Great Hall, at the Gryffindor table. Ron sat beside him, and Hermione to his right. The pair wore haunted expressions. Finding and destroying the horocruxes had not been an easy nor pleasant task. It had taken its toll on all of them.
“Harry!” A voice shouted. Harry turned around to see Ginny hurrying towards him. Her long red hair flowed down her back shining with the rays of the sun, and her blue eyes sparkled with delight, “It’s true you’ve done it? Its over?”
“Yes, we destroyed the horocruxes, but that doesn’t mean its over. I still have to fight Voldemort,” Harry replied numbly as he took in the sight of the beautiful girl before him. After being away for year Harry knew that his love for Ginny was stronger then ever and seeing her there before him renewed his spirits.
“Harry,” Remus said after having entered unnoticed. “It’s good to see you.”
“You too”
“The order has located Voldemort. We can go whenever you wish.”
“We?”
“The rest of the Order, myself, Ron, Hermione, Ginny…”
“NO!” Harry shouted startling the group around him, “I will go by myself.”
“What? Harry you can’t.” Hermione replied quickly, “How will you get past all the death eaters? You have to let us come with you.”
Harry stared straight head determination fixed in his emerald eyes, “This is my battle I will go alone.”
“Harry…” Ginny gasped. He looked into her eyes and saw the sadness there and the moisture of the tears she held back. He wished that she wouldn’t be sad, that he wouldn’t hurt her, but what could he do when what he must do was prophesied.
“I need sleep. I will go tomorrow, alone,” he paused, “If something should happen…. If I don’t come back…. Then I want you all to know how sorry I am.”
“Harry, please don’t talk like that.” Ginny whined as the tears welled up in her eyes.
“Whatever you do, I go to Voldemort alone. Do you all understand?” Harry demanded as he stared at the four around him with determined eyes. Hermione and Ginny nodded in agreement through their tears.
“Yes,” Ron and Remus replied.

Did I disappoint you or let you down?
Should I be feeling guilty or let the judges frown?
'Cause I saw the end before we'd begun,
Yes I saw you were blinded and I knew I had won.
So I took what's mine by eternal right.

That night Harry lay on his bed in Gryffindor tower trying not to think that this might be the last time he did so. He closed his eyes and hoped that soon sleep would come to him. He had almost fallen asleep when he heard a voice whisper his name. He turned to see Ginny standing beside his bed. He pulled himself up and grabbed his glasses. “Ginny? What are you doing here?”
“Harry,” she whispered as she moved closer to the bed the silk of her nightgown trailing behind her. She was beautiful in the moonlight. “I need to know something.”
“Anything Gin,” he replied staring at the curves of her form and how nicely the nightgown accentuated them as she sat down on the bed beside him.
“Harry,”
“Yes, Gin.”
“Do you still love me?”
“I’ve never stopped loving you,” he answered sadly a lump forming in his throat and tears stinging at the backs of his eyes. Ginny moved forward and kissed him gently on the lips. Before she could pull away Harry grabbed the back of her head and gently pulled her close again for a passionate kiss. Fire seemed to rage through him as she pulled away. He looked into her eyes and saw the tears silently running down her cheek. He kissed them gently.

Took your soul out into the night.
It may be over but it won't stop there,
I am here for you if you'd only care.

“AVADA KEDAVRA,” Harry screamed with his last bit of strength. A green light flew from his wand striking Voldemort. As the dark wizard collapsed to the ground dead, Harry smiled to himself and then he too crumpled to the ground.
“HARRY!” Ginny’s voice screamed as she came rushing into the hall with the Order, Ron, and Hermione. Ginny rushed to his side and knelt down taking his head into her lap.
“Ginny,” he murmured staring up at her.
“I need help over here!” Ginny screamed as her eyes took in the mess before her. Harry lay in a pool of his own blood. He bled from the stump of what had been his left arm. And a sectumsempra had cut into his abdomen.
“Ginny, “ he whispered as he gave into the pain that wracked his body and let the blackness overtake him.

You touched my heart you touched my soul.
You changed my life and all my goals.
And love is blind and that I knew when,
My heart was blinded by you.

“Harry,” she cried pushing her fingers against his neck to find a pulse. Yes, she thought as she felt the gentle thump of the blood passing through his veins. She bent down and kissed his head and then moved to his lips. “I love you Harry.”

I've kissed your lips and held your head.
Shared your dreams and shared your bed.
I know you well, I know your smell.
I've been addicted to you.

“He’s lost a lot of blood. Let’s get him to Pompey quickly,” Harry heard as he opened his eyes to the swirling world around him.
“It’s okay Harry,” a voice soothed from above, “were going to get you to Pomfrey and she’ll fix you up.” Ginny! Harry thought recognizing the voice. “You’re going to be okay Harry.” She soothed. Understanding her words his heart fell. It was taking all his strength to hold on now, and he knew he didn’t have long.”

Goodbye my lover.
Goodbye my friend.
You have been the one.
You have been the one for me.

“Ginny,” he whispered hoarsely.
“What is it love?”
“Ginny, I’m sorry.”
“No, Harry your going to be all right,” she begged him as the tears rolled down her cheeks. “Just hold on for a few more minutes.”
“I’m sorry,” he whispered as tears fell down his cheeks, “I have to go Gin.”

I am a dreamer but when I wake,
You can't break my spirit - it's my dreams you take.
And as you move on, remember me,
Remember us and all we used to be
I've seen you cry, I've seen you smile.
I've watched you sleeping for a while.
I'd be the father of your child.
I'd spend a lifetime with you.
I know your fears and you know mine.
We've had our doubts but now we're fine,
And I love you, I swear that's true.
I cannot live without you.

“Isn’t there something more you can do,” Ginny begged the ragged form of Remus who sat beside her trying not to let his own emotions show, trying to be strong for the three of him.
“I’ve stopped the bleeding, but he needs a blood replenishing potion, and we don’t have one here.” Remus stated blankly. He was numb and angry. He could tell that Harry only had seconds left and those seconds wouldn’t be long enough for Madame Pomfrey to arrive with the potion.

Goodbye my lover.
Goodbye my friend.
You have been the one.
You have been the one for me.

She gently stroked his messy black hair. It was so unfair. He had lived through so much, he had defeated Voldemort, the least they could do was have the damn blood replenishing potion for him. “This isn’t right,” she sobbed, “you shouldn’t die this way, not from this.”
“Gin,” he interrupted, “please, hold my hand.”

And I still hold your hand in mine.
In mine when I'm asleep.
And I will bear my soul in time,
When I'm kneeling at your feet.

“Of course,” She whispered reaching out to hold his cold hand in hers.

Goodbye my lover.
Goodbye my friend.
You have been the one.

“I love you Gin,” he whispered to her before closing his eyes.
“Harry! I love you!”

You have been the one for me.

Her heart fell as she felt his hand go limp in hers.

I'm so hollow, baby, I'm so hollow.
I'm so, I'm so, I'm so hollow.
