Expecting Ginny

Disclaimer : I do not own Harry Potter even though I wish I did.

The summer had started. It was a pity that it had started out with such a mournful tone as it did but there was nothing that could be done. Everyone's minds were on the death of Dumbledore and Snape's disappearance. Well, almost everyone.

Ginny Weasley had mourned for Dumbledore just like everyone else but for some reason she felt as if there was something else she had to worry about. The only problem was she couldn't figure out what it is. During the first few days of the summer she just assumed it was her relationship with harry but about a week after summer began she realized it was something much bigger.

----------------------------------------

Arthur Weasley was the first one to notice that to find out what was going on with Ginny. He was up early as usually on his way to work. When he got out of bed Molly had been sleeping silently so he slipped out of bed quietly.

There was no need to wake her up to just say goodbye. She was under so much stress from worrying about him and all the kids. The last thing she needed was to be woken up when she sleeping so silently. He pulled on his clothes and walked out of the bedroom and into the hallway.

He hadn't expected any of the children to be awake so he was surprised when he heard someone moving around in the bathroom. Arthur almost didn't pay any attention to as he made his way down stairs to grab a bite to eat before he headed off to work. It wasn't until he heard the sound of someone throwing up that he headed back towards the bathroom.

Arthur stood outside the bathroom door listening to child throw up. It sounded miserable. It actually reminded Arthur of the way Molly sounded when she was having morning sickness. He waited until whoever it was throwing up stopped before he knocked on the door.

“You alright in there?” he asked.

“I'm fine dad,” came Ginny's reply.

“Can I come in?” Arthur asked in a concerned voice.

He was worried about Ginny. She rarely ever got sick.

“I guess,” she answered. “It's unlocked.”

Arthur opened the door and stepped inside of the bathroom. Ginny was sitting on the floor in front of the toilet one hand on her stomach and she was using the other one to flush the toilet. He walked over and kneeled down next to her to look her over.

His only daughter didn't look good at all. Her whole face was flushed and her eyes were bloodshot. She looked like she had been doing a lot of throwing up or a lot of crying. Arthur couldn't help but think she had been doing a lot of both.

“Are you sick?” He asked putting a hand to her forehead. “You aren't warm”

Ginny let out a little sob turning her head away from her father as if in shame.

“Baby,” he said softy putting a hand on her shoulder. “Talk to me. Please tell me what's wrong.”

“I can't,” she whispered barely loud enough for her father to hear.

“Why not?” Arthur asked gently rubbing his daughter's shoulder.

“I'm scared,” Ginny admitted. “I'm scared to tell you.”

“You don't have to be scared,” he said. He never wanted any of his children to be afraid to tell him anything. “I'm worried about you Ginny. I want to know what's wrong so I can help you.”

Ginny let out a long sigh and let her shoulders drop even lower than they already were. Her mouth moved but Arthur only heard mumbles come out.

“You're going to have to speak up baby,” he said moving his hand from her shoulder to her back. He pulled her into a light hug. “It's ok Ginny.”

Ginny took a deep breath to prepare herself to speak. Arthur felt tense as he waited for her speak. This had to be something bad if she was being so closed up about it.

“I think I'm pregnant,” she said. She said it so quickly it took Arthur a minute to figure out what she had said.

For a long moment Arthur didn't say or do anything. When Ginny began to sob rather loudly he pulled her into a tighter hug. That calmed her down a bit.

“Shh...” he whispered. “It's ok Ginny. I'm not mad at you. I'm just surprised is all. How sure are you that you are pregnant?”

“Well,” she said as the tears finally stopped. “I didn't get my period this month and I've felt really sick.”

“May I ask who the father is?” Arthur asked.

“That's the thing I don't understand,” Ginny whispered. “I don't remember...um...I don't remember losing my... virginity...I would be sure I was still a virgin but my...my...”

She couldn't bring herself to say hymen to her father. It had been hard enough to say virginity. Arthur seemed to understand what she was trying to say because he nodded. How could she lose her hymen and not remember it?

“How about I take you to St. Mungo's ?” Arthur asked patting her back. “A medwitch can have a look at you and explain what is going on.”

Ginny's body tensed up and Arthur knew right away that she didn't want to go. Yet, if she didn't go they would be clueless about what was going on.

“I guess,” she mumbled. “I want to know what is going on. Do we have to tell Mum?”

“Of course not,” he said putting a hand on her chin. He pulled her face up slightly. “We don't have to tell her anything until you're ready to.”

A smile broke across Ginny's face and she threw her arms around her father's neck hugging him tight.

“Thank you,” she whispered. “Thank you so much dad.”

“That's my girl,” Arthur said when she let go out him. “Everything is going to be fine. Go get dressed and then we'll head to St. Mungo's .”

Ginny nodded and walked out of the bathroom. Arthur didn't get up right away. He sat there for minute thinking about what had just happened. It really seemed like Ginny was pregnant but she couldn't remember losing her virginity. It didn't make much sense but hopefully someone at St. Mungo's hospital could set it straight. He nodded to himself at that thought and walked out of the bathroom.
