Prologue
“Let me speak to him...face-to-face....”
Harry was rooted to the spot, he couldn't move.
“Master, you are not strong enough!”
Harry's only thought was, ‘Won't you just shut up and cut the rambling. Even if my parents’ murderer does show up, I won't survive but neither will he.’
“I have strength enough for this….”
Harry didn't want to see what was behind the turban, but it was being unwound, he needed some way of stopping it. Finally the face was revealed.
“Harry Potter...” whispered the Dark Lord.
“See what I have become?” he asked. “Mere shadow and vapor...I have form only when I share another's body...but there have always been those willing to let me into their hearts and minds.... Unicorn blood has strengthened me, these past weeks...you saw faithful Quirrell drinking it for me in the forest...and once I have the Elixir of Life, I will be able to create a body of my own.... Now...why don't you give me that Stone in your pocket?”
Harry stumbled backwards, he couldn't speak and there was no way Voldemort would let him escape alive. However, the stone had been tampered with so it didn't matter if he died, his parents’ murderer would be dead too.
“Don't be a fool,” snarled the Dark Lord. “Better save your own life and join me...or you'll meet the same end as your parents.... They died begging for mercy....”
“LIAR!” Harry yelled.
The Dark Lord moved closer, smirking. “How touching...” he hissed. “I always value bravery.... Yes, boy, your parents were brave.... I killed your father first, and he put up a courageous fight…but your mother needn't have died...she was trying to protect you.... Now give me the Stone, unless you want her to have died in vain.”
“I d-don't want her to have died at all,” said Harry faltering. He didn't want to die and he didn't want to fight.
“We could bring them back.”
“Could we?” asked Harry unsure.
“Yes, together we could do anything, Harry, even bring back your parents,” he hissed almost soothingly. “But only if you join me as an equal.”
“I'll join you, but only if you promise not to hurt me... like Uncle Vernon....” The last part was mumbled, but the Dark Lord still heard it.
“Child, I will never harm you…. Now give me the stone.”
“I can't,” sobbed Harry.
“Why not?”
“Because it's poisoned. The second you take it, you'll die.”
“Ah... I knew there was a reason for it. I must go now child, but we shall meet again and I will be reborn.”
“What do I tell everyone else?”
“Say your hands burnt me, I shall leave Quirrell dead here.”
“What? Master… please… NO!” yelled Quirrell.
“Until we meet again child,” said Voldemort.
“It'll be soon, won't it?”
“Yes, it will, now sleep child.”
Harry's lie got past everyone, including Dumbledore, who Harry realized was just a senile old man. He couldn't wait until his next year. He wouldn't have to put up with insane ramblings and he would probably see Voldemort again. He couldn't wait.
A.N. Everything in the quotation marks in the first half is from J.K Rowling’s book, everything else I twisted. I couldn't get the film to play, so I used the book.
