HOMECOMING
Remus Lupin silently opened the door to his lover’s dungeon rooms. The wards and warning spells around the room were deactivated; he knew perfectly well why this was so, and he felt like kind of an arse for it.
The door closed silently behind him, and he looked around in the gloom. He never could quite understand how Severus could stand to live here, without any sunlight whatsoever. It was his opinion that the lack of sunlight was a large factor in the potion master’s less than sterling personality, but trying to tell Severus that he needed to get more natural illumination only ever garnered him a patented Severus Snape Cold Glare.
He smiled slightly as his eyes fell to the couch and he saw the dark shape of his lover lying there. Severus had fallen asleep waiting for him.
Gently, so as not to wake his sleeping lover, he sat on the edge of the cushion and brushed a dark lock of hair from his pale face. Severus stirred and opened dark eyes slightly.
The eyes eventually focused on him. “Remus?” he murmured sleepily.
“Yeah, it’s me,” he told him with a small smile, and leaned down to kiss him.
“You were supposed to be back last night,” Severus told him reproachfully as he pulled himself into a sitting position, still half asleep.
“I know,” Remus said, pulling an unresisting Severus into his arms. “I’m sorry, I got held up. Can you forgive me?”
“Probably,” Severus murmured, and yawned. “In the morning. It’s too early to think right now…”
Remus smiled and stood up, pulling his lover with him. “Come on, let’s go to bed. You can be mad at me when you wake up.”
“Sounds like a plan,” Severus said, as Remus helped him to bed with a smile.
