A Freaky Valentine

Everybody was at the Great Hall having a good time in the Valentine Ball. Everybody but Severus Snape. He was wearing a very despiteful face staring at every one of the ball attendants. After a painful photographs’ session he decided to go for a walk to get away from the music, the happiness and the joy. He quickly slipped down the corridors; his feet guided him to the teacher’s lounge. Severus stood up straight. He sighed and gave two little knock at the door in front of him.

“Who is it?” a female voice came from inside the lounge

“It’s me, Severus!” Severus sighed once more “We need to talk Minerva! Let me in!”

“The door is open Severus. You can come in at any time you want!” Minerva laughed “This is the teacher lounge and you are a teacher!”

Severus sighed once more and opened the door. Minerva was sitting on a chair having a cup of wine. He noticed the chocolate heart-shaped box wrapped in red silk and white satin on the desk, and a bouquet of plastic flowers. Minerva shoved him a chair and smiled. Severus felt uncomfortable with this situation, a lady, alone in Valentine’s Day! Suddenly he felt like he was walking to a horde of hungry wolves and decided to remain standing.

“Want a chocolate?” Minerva asked unwrapping the box.

“No thanks! Ehmm... I am allergic!” Severus quickly answered. He didn’t want to take anything from her; she may have put some love potion on it.

"Since when have you been allergic to chocolate?" Minerva asked with an inquiring look

“I just found out!” Severus avoided her eyes “Minerva … we need to talk!” Severus started to loose the neck of his robe. “I know what you are trying to do! I know what you are plotting!”

“Really Severus?” Minerva giggled “And what would be that?”

“Well, I know that this time of the year, well you know, women and men are like supposed to be together and all that stuff!” Severus started to babble “Like balls, and gifts, and all that kind of things and you know, it is like, well, ehmm, things!

“Are you really going somewhere?” Minerva placed a chocolate on her mouth “Are you alright Severus?”

“Well, it is hard for me … I've hated Valentine's Day ever since I was a little kid … we can thank Potter and Black for that!” Severus frowned at the thought of his old school mates. “Anyway everything about this day just freaks me a little!”

“I’ve noticed!” Minerva rolled her eyes “But you still haven’t told me what it has to do with me and, what did you call it? Oh yes, plotting!”

“I received your Valentine’s greeting card and the uncut diamond you sent” Severus wiped the hair of his face “I was really impressed by your writing and well, it was really, how I could say it without hurting your feelings? It was really scary! I didn’t know you could write such things! Gosh Minerva! I even blushed! I was astonished by your words! I always thought you were a lady, how could you desire such things!”

Minerva stared at him with a blank expression without saying a word. Severus plopped in the chair. He couldn’t believe what he was saying and how could she be so calmed after everything he just said. He gazed at her eyes trying to look for a flicker of shame but she was clean of it. Minerva didn’t pronounce a word; she slowly placed another chocolate in her mouth highly amused by the situation. Finally he noticed the flickering smile on her face

“How can you be so calmed?” Severus exploded “Merlin’s beard! Don’t you have shame at all?”

“I don’t see why I should be ashamed Severus!” Minerva took a large zip of her cup “And I don’t understand your reaction, Valentine’s Day is the perfect occasion for people to show their feelings!”

“But not this kind of feelings!” Severus placed the card on the desk “Seriously Minerva it was sick!” Minerva grabbed the card and smiled. A muffled laugh came from her mouth that make Severus feel ashamed. “I still can’t believe how you’re taking this!”

“Well Severus, I can deny that this whole issue amuses me!” Minerva raised an eyebrow “But I didn’t send you this greeting, in fact I didn’t sent you a greeting at all!”

Severus felt the air was leaving him. With a big effort he managed to pull himself together “Then why didn’t you tell me earlier? Why did you let me keep going with the greeting thing! Gosh! Why didn’t you stop me?” Severus gasped noticing that she had read the card and now he was going to be the target of the teacher’s jokes “But that hufflepuff girl, Marie, gave it to me after I saw her talking with you! She came to my office giggling and smiling and then she gave me the card! Don’t you play jokes on me Minerva!”

“Frankly Severus, you should have noticed that the card wasn’t signed by me!” Minerva smirked “It is not my handwriting and you could’ve just asked Marie who gave her the greeting before you put yourself in a ridiculous situation! And yes I didn’t stop you because I wanted to laugh, I really had a boring day after my lovely Argus sent me these plastic roses and that cheap chocolate box, I was expecting more from him!”

“I ... I don’t know what to say!”

“You didn’t know about me and Filch?”

“Nah! Everybody knows about that! We all saw you on the cupboard on the Christmas ball!” Severus shuddered “I am talking about the greeting! I was sure it was you! Who else? You’re the only one that has a sucking love life!”

“Well excuse me Severus, but yours is not the perfect example!” Minerva huffed “I don’t think a man whose perfect date is with a cauldron and a stirring stick is the better example of a love life! Plus it could have been Trelawney!”

“She’s busy with Firenze!” Severus’s face paled “I think I better go ... Where I can find Marie?”

“She’s at the ball I guess; she was dating one of the Weasleys twins!” Minerva took another chocolate “And please if you see Argus tell him I am expecting him here!”

Severus walked out the lounge feeling miserable. How could he be that stupid; he was sure Minerva would not let him be at peace after that. For the first time on his life he wished that Potter and Black where there lifting him upside down and all attention would be drawn on his underwear. He scouted the Great Hall and located the blonde girl that gave him the greeting earlier. He felt his stomach grumbled when he noticed that she was staring at him laughing. Maybe he was the victim of a sick joke from the students. He frowned and motioned the girl to approach.

“Miss Escargot!” Severus didn’t look at her eyes “May you please explain who told you to give me the greeting card?” The girl giggled “You have read it right?” The girl nodded “Well speak quickly!”

“I cannot tell you Professor!” Marie tried not to laugh “I was told that I couldn’t say his name to you!”

“He?” Severus’s face turned even paler.

“Gosh! I am sorry professor!” Marie snorted “I cannot tell you anymore, I am in big trouble now! I should have told you it was a ‘he’ but it slipped out of my mind! Is just that … well I think you probable want to go with the Headmaster now!”

“You bet I will!” Severus huffed “Now I see this is a product of you and your friends! A Weasley I presume! Now that’s one hundred points from Hufflepuff and go to your common room and think about what you have done!”

“But professor Snape!” Marie cried.

“Say nothing more! Go to your common room!” Severus twisted a smile. Finally the laugh on Marie’s face was gone. He quickly turned around and walked to the Headmaster’s office. He slowed his pace trying to put his thoughts in order. He didn’t want to make himself look like a fool in front of the Headmaster. Once more he pulled the card out of his pocket, the handwriting wasn’t unknown for him, but for some weird reason he couldn’t remember who it was. Perhaps it was Potter, yes, that brat could be the author of this low joke. He read the card once more and frowned noticing that it wasn’t Potter’s handwriting. It was a smooth, beautiful type of handwriting that seemed to be done by a … Severus’s paled at the thought. Suddenly everything became clear, everything was running too fast in his mind and there he was; he fell in the trap. He walked exactly to the lion’s cage. He just let a desperate sigh came out of his mouth when he heard that voice.

“Severus, I’ve been expecting you! I see that you received my card!”

“Yes Albus!” Severus said grumpily “And I am really surprised!”

“Why? I only told you I wanted you to rub my feet!” Dumbledore laughed and placed his arm on Severus’s shoulders “Come on; don’t be a fool, you enjoyed the last time we spend a night together, remember? We dance, drank some wines, massages, you even wore that purple lingerie I gave you!” Dumbledore smirked amused “Come on, let’s go to my office! Care for a lemon drop?”

The End.
