~*~*~*~*~*~

Cause baby goodbye doesn't mean forever
Let me tell you goodbye
Doesn't mean we'll never be together again
If you wake up and I'm not there I wont be long away oh
And all the things you do my goodbye girl
Will bring me back to you

“I don’t want you to go,” she murmured softly, “You’re supposed to stay here with me and stay by my side.” Her arms wrapped around his waist as she glanced up to him, brushing his hair away from his face. “Besides, what could you possibly have to do that would take you so far away?”

Draco laughed softly and shook his head as he brushed her hair away from her face as he ran his fingers along her jaw. “I have to go, and you know exactly why. If I don’t go, any and every lead we have on finding my father will disappear.”

Hermione sighed a moment as she buried her face in her shoulder. She didn’t want him to go, after spending months with him on the newest case of rogue Death Eaters that had escaped from their captors just before being brought to Azkaban, she had come to love and care for Draco. Becoming an Auror had been a secret dream of hers so when the Trio decided to do it shortly after the war, nothing stood in their way.

“Fine, but you have to promise me that you’re going to come back,” she whispered. Draco smiled slowly as he shook his head and kissed her forehead gently.

“I always do,” he murmured as he pulled her body against his, “You’re mine, Granger, and there is no way that you’re going to get rid of me now.”

Both smiled and laughed as his arms wrapped around her body. It hadn’t been easy getting together and falling in love – Hermione had done most of the work to turn Draco’s mind towards her, telling him that it would be okay for them to be together. He had resisted, more to protect her, or that’s what he had said. Hermione always thought that it was because he didn’t want to fall in love, that he saw what love had done to his mother and wanted nothing to do with it.

“Why would I want to get rid of you?” she asked softly, a small shudder coming across her body as she felt Draco’s hands caress her sides as his fingers slipped under her shirt, “I mean, you pamper me and do things for me, so why would I want to get rid of that?” She giggled softly. Draco raised a brow as he lifted her shirt over her head.

“You wouldn’t, and you won’t because I’m in charge.” Draco smirked as Hermione raised a brow as his fingers hooked into her bra from behind.

“Oh? You’re in charge? Who’s the one that decided it would be bad to run into the room where six Death Eaters were meeting and then trying to arrest them?” Hermione asked as she began to tug at his shirt, pulling it off his body.

“You did. But who’s the one that stopped you from tripping over the trap that they had left for us?” he shot back as he unhooked her bra and cupped her breasts in his hands as he gave them a soft squeeze.

Hermione giggled as she ran her fingers through his hair as he pushed her up against the wall, his mouth taking her nipple into his mouth as he sucked. Her eyes shut as her breathing became scattered.

“You did,” she whimpered, “But who’s the one that came up with the plan to separate the Death Eaters and…” she paused as his hand covered one breast as he moved and paid attention to the other, she tried to regain her thoughts, “And we managed to catch all of them because of it?” Draco pulled away slowly and grinned as he looked up towards Hermione whose eyes were half way shut, her lips dry as her tongue ran over them, moistening.

“Of course you, Luv.” Draco replied as he pulled his shirt completely off and slammed her breasts against his chest, her sensitive nipples ran against his body and she moaned in response. “But let’s not try and play who’s the better Auror, we already know I am.” He snickered as Hermione’s eyes opened and she glared up at him.

“You most certainly are not,” she grumbled as Draco quickly began to unzip her pants. Before she could say much more, he cupped her in his hand. Draco smirked slowly as he met her gaze as he slid a finger inside of her.

“Admit that I am,” he growled. He smiled slowly as he saw her eyes flutter as another finger slipped into her wet center. “Tell me that I’m the better Auror and I’ll make this quick and easy,” he teased as he grinned.

“No way,” Hermione grumbled back as she pressed the heel of her hands against his shoulders, “I’m enjoying this too much.” Draco slowly pulled his fingers away from her, moving his hands away from her pants completely, he grinned when she whimpered.

“You said you were enjoying it too much, I can’t do anything that will bring you enjoyment,” Draco smirked slowly as he moved back and unzipped his pants as he kicked them off pulling the covers off of their bed. Hermione frowned and glared towards him as she tilted her head, watching him as he slid under the silk black sheets.

“Damn you,” she growled, “You’re going to finish what you fucking started – even if I have to make you.” Hermione stalked over to the bed as she stripped off her pants and smiled as she crawled over his body and leaned down kissing him gently.

Draco laughed as she kissed him and he wrapped his arms around her. Quickly, he had her pinned to the bed and his arms were on either side of her. His fingers trailed along her side, hooking her underwear with his fingers as he pulled them down. Hermione whimpered as his fingers caressed the inside of her thigh.

“You’re going to try and make me?” he asked her softly as he looked down. Hermione met his gaze and smirked slowly as she wrapped her leg around his waist, pulling him against her so he was positioned at her entrance.

“Just shut up,” she mumbled as she shifted only slightly, her lips crushing against his as he slid inside of her warmth. Her arms wrapped around his neck as her fingers ran through his hair and gave it a small tug as his lips made her way to her neck.

Hermione reached out from underneath the warm comforter to the area beside her in bed, slowly her eyes opened as she took in the scenery. The bed was empty and cold and the pillow where his head normally rested was off to the side. She frowned as she noticed the red rose lying on the pillow with a note around it. Wrapping the sheet around her body, Hermione slowly sat up as she rubbed her eyes, brushing the sleep aside.

Reaching out, she took the note in her hand and smiled slowly as she took in the scent of the rose. Opening the folded paper up, her smile widened as she saw Draco’s familiar writing scribbled across the paper.

Hermione,

I hate that I had to leave you before you awoke this morning but I had to get on my way. Remember that I will be thinking of you every night while I’m on this assignment and that nothing will keep me from coming back to you. Don’t let that horrible Weasel take charge of our unit – you’re twenty times better than he is…

Hermione giggled, remembering the last fight Ron and Draco had gotten into because of a Quidditch bet they had made.

…and stop laughing at me. I’m telling the truth when I say that the idiot still owes me money. Anyhow, Luv, keep the bed warm for me and I will return as soon as I can. Make sure to keep yourself pampered and you have the entire household staff at your disposal.

Always yours,
Draco

Hermione gave a small sigh as she held the note close to her chest and smiled a little as she shut her eyes. He’d be back soon and she knew it, but the fact that she woke up without him made her heart ache just a little more than usual. Glancing around, she knew she had things she had to get done before heading into the Ministry, things were going to be a lot harder without Draco next to her.

It had been months.

No, scratch that, it had been eight months, fourteen days, five hours and ten minutes since Hermione had woken up in her bed, alone. Each day had gone by miserably and it was stupid that this assignment was driving her insane.

Make that eleven minutes.

Curling up underneath the covers of their bed, Hermione wrapped her body around one of her pillows as she shut her eyes tightly and wished that it was Draco she was clinging to. Taking a deep breath in she sighed, the familiar scent of his cologne filled her senses as she smiled slowly. Reaching out she could almost feel the silk strands of his hair as she ran her fingers through it. Her hand traveled to his jaw and she stopped.

There was stubble.

When Draco had left, there was no stubble. Opening her eyes, Hermione practically leaped across the bed as she saw him. Her smile widened as she wrapped her arm around him tightly, covering her body was his.

“You’re home.”
