Chapter 0: At a Letter's Notice
He gazed up at the towering spires and turrets, the solemn towers. He closed his eyes before heading up to the castle, his black leather gloved hands gripping the letter tightly before he reached the behemoths of wood. He nodded his head in greeting to the stern but always welcoming visage of McGonagall.
"This way then," she whispered.
The halls were empty, to be expected during classes.
No idle talking was passed between them; it was pointless considering why he was here. His trench coat flared behind, his wand was secure in its spring-loaded holster strapped to his arm.
Their walk was brisk, Minerva's years did not affect her health or her speed. So they reached the gargoyle rather quickly and not to his surprise, the password was some form of candy.
Up the stairs he went, and he knocked on the door once before bidden entrance.
Albus gestured towards the seat offering his usual tea and lemon drop.
"Perhaps you could explain this Albus," he tossed the letter onto the table and Dumbledore didn't even look at it, instead he smiled.
"It is so good to see you again my boy!"
He felt his right eye twitch but he was grateful that his sunglasses hid it.
"The letter Albus…"
The old man sighed, the twinkle dimming just a bit.
"Hello Harry…"
