Prologue:
The war was over. Harry Potter, a boy in the summer of his 6th year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry had defeated the darkest wizard ever known, Lord Voldemort.
Harry had not caught the train from Hogwarts on that last day, as all of his friends had known he wouldn’t. He took flight on his broomstick from the tiny, noisy platform in Hogsmead. Using the amount of pain in his scar as a guide, he traveled all over the country seeking out the snake-faced monster who had killed his parents so many years ago
Harry hardly ever ate a bite, and never got a wink of sleep. He was beyond sleep, beyond all rational thought. He had only one idea in his head, and that was finding Voldemort. He pressed everyone he met for information regarding how to kill Voldemort. In doing so he gathered valuable information about himself, his family, and his friends. He learned that the Potters were pure bloods traced back further than anyone could recall. His mother, Lily Evans was not muggle-born, she was in fact from a pure-blood family that rivaled even the Malfoys in status. His aunt, Petunia, was betrothed to a man she didn’t love and therefore ran away to live with the muggles and married the first arse that would take care of her. His mother and father were betrothed from the moment of birth. Voldemort and his death-eaters had killed every member of the Potter line except for Harry, Petunia, and so now it seemed Dudley. Harry learned that Dudley’s name was engraved in the book that lists the birth of all magical children. Though he had never seen Dudley perform any magic other than fitting through doorways.
Traveling for days at a time, scrounging for food, and stealing supplies, Harry managed to locate a man named Brighton. Brighton was a newly recruited death-eater, who had backed out at the last minute after receiving his mark. He had apparated every five minutes for a whole month just to be sure that Voldemort had lost his trail. He told Harry everything he knew about Voldemort, including the cave where the last of the horcruxes were hidden, and the location of the monster himself. Harry found the cave with Brighton’s help and destroyed the horcruxes without dying. He did, however, lose Brighton.
He didn’t rest after destroying the horcruxes. He flew on till he came to the forbidden forest at Hogwarts. He knew that he should tell Dumbledore that Voldemort was hiding right under his nose, but he didn’t want to risk the lives of any more of his friends. Harry slept, for the first time in weeks that night. Readying himself for the attack.
He woke the next morning without any aches in his body. His weeks of searching had given him more physical strength than he had ever had. His body was firm and muscular and his skin was tan from all the days flying or fighting in the hot sun. He marched through the forest without thinking. Thinking would only make him be afraid. He found the entrance to Aragog’s lair and paused, brushing the long black locks out of his face. He got out his wand and climbed into the burrow in the forest floor. He scrambled where he had to scramble and marched where he could stand up right. For over an hour he trudged thought the underground maze. All the while the pain in his scar was increasing. Finally he saw a light up ahead and he could tell that there was an open room at the end of the tunnel. He didn’t slow, nor did he stop to think, he simply marched on with a look in his eyes that none of his friends would recognize. He opened the silver box he had been carrying in his cloak pocket since he had started this journey.
“Welcome Harry, I’ve been expecting you.” Harry didn’t waste a moment. He dropped a glass vile and the room went black instantly. Harry could see in the dark. He stunned and bound all the death-eaters in the room in a breath. He marched on. He could see the face of the monster who had killed his parents and his friends. He could hear his mother’s screams echoing in his ears, and see the face of his godfather as he fell through the veil in the department of mysteries. He raised his wand and saw Voldemort smile. “You can’t kill me Harry, I am your worst nightmare” Voldemort sneered. “I won’t dream of you anymore then”, Harry replied calmly. “AVADA KADAVRA!” And Voldemort was no more. Harry closed the box in his cloak and turned to walk back out of the tunnel.
