Lucius ran his cane along Harry’s forehead. He looked in closely at the scar. He thought of all the times he was able to get close enough to kiss it. He hated making appearances in public.
He would be dead if his cover was blown. Harry and Dumbledore were the only two that knew about his true alliances even his own son didn’t know.

“Lucius, this is Harry Potter. I want you to take him under your wing. You will have to pretend to have an intense dislike for him. Harry must always fear you in public or fight you. He needs someone to be a father to him right now, though. This is where it is hard for these assignments.” Dumbledore lamented.
Lucius looked down at the young boy standing in front of him. He wanted to feel fatherly towards the boy, but he couldn’t. All he could see was Harry’s father standing in his place. Images of the things he had wanted to do with James, but was never allowed played though his mind. Even back in those days he was playing both sides. It would never do to have a relationship with one of your “masters” enemies. He and James had met a few times in secret, but nothing could come of it.
Now he was suppose to take over where everyone else had failed. He was supposed to mentor this boy, be a father to him? Impossible.
“Well, boy, what do you have to say for yourself? You just heard the Headmaster. Do you think you need a father?” Lucius demanded.
“No, sir,” Harry replied looking him in the eyes. “I have a father who died because of Voldemort. I don’t need another father, especially one who raised such a little prat for a son.”
“My, my, you do have spirit, young Potter,” Lucius drawled. “Very well, come with me boy. You have only a couple of weeks before you have to get ready for school. I can keep you hidden at the manor where no one will know you are there. We can get to know each other and I can begin your training in all areas, including dark arts.”
“Dark Arts?” Harry questioned.
“Yes, dear boy, I’m afraid you are going to need them if you ever hope to defeat Voldemort. I will make the apologies to your Uncle about spending the summer with him. He will expect you in three weeks. Make sure you are prepared to tell all that you suffered this summer as well,” Dumbledore informed the young man staring at him.
“Yes, Sir.”
“Shall we go now, Mr. Potter?”
“Yes, Mr. Malfoy, lead the way. Apparently I’m all yours now.”
“Yes, all mine. Whatever am I going to do with you boy?” Lucius questioned.
They arrived at the manor and went directly to an unused area of the house. Lucius promised that Draco would never enter this part of the manor and if he did he would be obliviated before he found anything out. The only being that knew that Harry was there was a house elf, Dobby, who was very insistent upon helping Harry.
Lucius began slowly, teaching the boy different spells involving the dark arts. He also made sure he spent time every day just talking to Harry, finding out about his life. He was enraged at how Harry’s relatives had treated him. He was thankful at least that every summer now, while it was safe, anyway, Harry would spend much of it with him. The days were spent companionably and Harry learned as much from Lucius as Lucius did from Harry.
Then it happened, one day Lucius was talking about Harry’s father. Lucius was telling a story about a fight that broke out after Quidditch. It was the first time that Lucius had been alone with James and they kissed. Lucius left that part out of the story, of course.
Harry gazed at Lucius thoughtfully. “You loved my father didn’t you?”
Lucius was shocked at this. “Yes,” he started almost afraid of what he would say next. He had to get some damage control taken care of and quickly. “You’re father and I had a secret agreement. We didn’t tell anyone about it, and you are the first to even question it. May I ask why?”
“It is just that you have a different look on your face when you talk about him. You face softens and I see a smile in your eyes. The smile fades quickly, though. I just wondered,” Harry said looking up into Lucius face.
Then Harry did the unthinkable. He leaned up and kissed Lucius. Lucius felt all the self-control he had leave. He pulled Harry in closer for a deeper kiss. “Harry, we can’t do this,” he murmured when they broke apart.
“Why not? It isn’t like I don’t know what this is. You want me. I have seen it in your eyes. Just as long as you know, I’m not my father.” Harry said all of this while wrapping himself around Lucius.
“No, never your father. You are so much more than he ever was.”
Lucius pulled Harry in for another searing kiss. This was too much. He had no control. Dumbledore would be most displeased.
Lucius tried to remember the boy was the same age as his son, but he couldn’t. Harry was so much more mature. Harry was already a very strong and powerful wizard. He couldn’t deny the boy anything, even if he tried.
That kiss began a two-week adventure both in bed and out of bed. Harry had his way with Lucius. He could do whatever he wished to the man, and Lucius was putty in his hands. Their affair grew hotter and hotter, but they both knew that soon they would have appearances to keep up. Neither of them wanted to leave the sanctity of the Manor and face the world. They both knew that it would drive stakes through their hearts every time they have to face each other across a room, let alone a battlefield.
They parted ways almost as quietly as they started. A tear ran down Harry’s face as he watched the man he had come to love Apparate from his uncle’s house.
Uncle Vernon true to his word to Dumbledore made sure and put bars up on Harry’s windows. Beyond the little things that any child would be yelled at for, Uncle Vernon left Harry alone. He was informed of what would happen if he were hateful to the boy. He had to keep up appearances, but other than that he must treat the boy as his son. That was hard for the man, but he managed to do it.

“May I see the scar? It is legendary,” Lucius purred.
Harry stepped back, knowing that he was facing Lucius for the first time in public. He had to make it real, that he really did not like the man. Ron was getting indignant. That helped him to remember he had a part to play.
It was hard, this confrontation. All Harry wanted to do was take a step forward and wrap himself around Lucius.
Lucius had the look in his eye that he gave Harry just before he would pull him in for a kiss, but then he stepped back. There were too many witnesses. He had to cover the emotions he was feeling. Perfect, Arthur Weasley was just coming over. Lucius went into his evil overlord mode as he faced his adversary.
