“What does “The Doors” mean?” Draco asked curiously before taking a sip of his coffee.

Harry, who just finished taking a bite of his crumpet, whipped his mouth and furrowed his eyebrows in confusion, “Huh?”

“The Doors, it was written on your shirt when we met at the Leaky Cauldron. What’s it mean?”

Harry’s confused facial expression quickly switched to that of amusement when he realized what Draco meant, “Oh!” He chuckled, “They’re a rock band from the late sixties, early seventies. Great band.”

Furrowing his eyebrows in confusion, Draco looked at Harry as though he said something ridiculously absurd, “What on earth is a ‘rock band’?”

Harry took a quick sip of his coffee before answering “A ‘rock band’ is a musical group - band, like the Weird Sisters. They play their own musical instruments and have a lead singer and so on. The reason for the slang “rock band” is because it is rock ‘n’ roll music. Rock ‘n’ Roll being a genre of music that originated in the 1950s, and my favorite type of music, I might add.”

Draco raised his eyebrows “So I take it you’re very fond of music. I never would have thought.”

“Yeah well, I’ve grown to have a certain love for music over the past few years. Actually since I’ve been out of Hogwarts and on my own. At the Dursleys I was never allowed to have any freedom to explore hobbies such as music or movies. I wasn’t even allowed to watch television, so I really didn’t know anything about music and such. Accept for, occasionally, what I would over hear on the Television or radio, which was very rare to say the least. So now that I’m on my own I’ve had my chance to explore these horizons” Harry took another bite of his crumpet, then added “even with my heavy work load.”

Draco raised his eyebrows with interest. He had come to learn a lot about Harry in the past few weeks and was astonished each time by the new things he learnt about his schoolboy rivalry.

Taking a sip of coffee to wash down the crumpet, Harry continued, “I’ve been to a few rock concerts as well.”

“Oh really, how were they?” Draco asked before taking a bite of his crumpet.

“Excellent!”

Harry scrutinized Draco for a second before asking, “Would you like to go to a rock concert with me?”

Draco swallowed the bit of crumpet that was in his mouth, “Yeah sure, sounds interesting enough.”

“Great! There’s one I’ve been meaning to see for a while. It’s next Friday. The White Stripes.” Harry excitedly informed.

“The White Stripes? The Doors, Do every one of these ‘rock bands’ begin with ‘the’?” Asked Draco, then snorted at his own pun.

“Not all of them. There are many without ‘the’ in the beginning of their names. Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Dead Kennedys and Nirvana just to name a few…”

Draco mused at the fondness in Harry’s voice on the subject of, rock bands. “How interesting.”

“Indeed. I’ll show you some music over at my flat later. Catch you up on what you have been missing.” Harry said with a cheeky smile.

“Sounds good.” Said Draco, then looked at his watch. “Well lunch break is over now, guess you’d better be getting back to the Ministry. Thanks for lunch.”

“No problem.”

The two men finished off the last bit of their coffee before getting up to leave.

Friday Night: The White Stripes concert.

Draco couldn’t remember when he saw so many people in one place. There were a lot of people dressed, as Harry was, a simple T-shirts and jeans, which was absurd to Draco since it was freezing out. Then there were the other people…who were just plain, weird.

Feeling a little out of place amongst the others, in his black blazer and dress pants, Draco was now beginning to regret not taking Harry’s advice on dressing down a bit.

Draco smacked his lips in annoyance, “Potter, you should have informed me how casually, not to mention weird and under-clothed people dressed at these sorts of events.”

“I told you to dress down.”

“I hardly see that as being informative to the dress code of this crowd, and besides this is dressed down for me.” Draco gestured to his clothing.

“Well you’ve seen what I’m wearing before we left, and I did offer you something different to wear when we were at my flat. But oh no, Mr. Malfoy thought my clothing were beneath him to wear.” Harry teased.

“They are beneath me!” Draco shot back.

“So why are you complaining? And…You’re going to get really hot in that blazer during the concert.”

“Are you kidding, it’s freezing.” Draco said and wrapped his arms around himself for warmth.

“Out here, yeah, but wait until we get inside,” Harry’s teeth chattered, “its going to be like an oven.”

“I’ll take my chances.”

Draco also noticed that there were a lot of people, mainly girls, who were wearing the colors red, white and black. How strange, he thought. Well at least he wasn’t so different in the color code department, seeing as his whole attire was black.

Suddenly the crowed began to move, Harry turned to Draco, “Okay, crowds moving, come on.”

“Finally!” Said Draco relieved.

When they reached the inside of the building Draco was met with an even bigger surprise and also warmth. It seemed that inside there were twice as much people than there were outside.

“Wow” Was all that Draco could say.

“Awesome, huh? Come on our seats are down here.”

Harry led the way to their seats, on the way bumping into a few odd people. Their seats were third row center.

“Well here we are, the band should be coming out on stage anytime,” Harry looked at his watch “Their instruments are already on stage.”

Draco noticed the peppermint design on the base drum, “What’s with the peppermint design on the drum?”

“The peppermint candy is like their gimmick and they have this thing with simplicity and the number three. Which is why they only wear the colors red, white and black. I read an article about them in an NME magazine before.”

“Oh, so that explains the colors.” Draco said looking around at the people who were wearing red, white and black.

“Yeah, I guess they want to honor the band or something. I think it’s funny.”

“Sure is a lot of people here.” Draco said eyeing the people surrounding them.

“Yeah, the White Stripes are pretty well known around here. Good music that’s why. I’ve been dying to see them live.” Harry said, moving back a bit to allow a few people to pass.

Draco noticed how few instruments there were on stage, “Shouldn’t there be more instruments? What do the others play?” raising his voice a little above the crowd.

“There’s only two people in the band.”

“But I thought there were four or five people in bands?”

“Yeah, usually, but it’s not a rule.”

“So this much people for only two people?” Draco said looking around at the crowd of people.

“Yup. I told you, it’s because of the music.”

Draco shook his head in disbelief, “I hope we can hear the music over these people,” he said getting annoyed with how much noise the other members of the audience were making.

“Oh, you’ll hear it.” Said Harry grinning devilishly.

With that, the two band members made their way on stage and the crowd began to cheer. The female sat behind the drum kit and the male took the guitar.

Draco then turned to Harry and shouted “That man is wearing the most hideous out fit I have ever seen!”

Harry laughed, “That’s Jack White! The drummer is Meg White!”

Before Draco could say anything more about Jack White’s hideous attire, the band began to play.

The sound of the guitar and the drumbeat that followed, as well as the cheering from the audience, was immensely loud that Draco covered his ears instantly.

“This song is called ‘Black Math’!” Harry informed.

“You call this bloody music?!”

“Yeah, great isn’t it!”

To Draco, this music was by far anything he would consider great. It was absolutely terrible in his opinion. It sounded like a bunch of racket a child would make and Jack White’s ‘singing’ was even worse.

“I can’t believe you can stand this noise! How long until it’s over?!” Shouted Draco with his hands over his ears.

“A few hours!”

Draco gapped at Harry opened mouthed. A few hours?! Oh God kill me now!

“I can’t believe people actually pay to be here!” Draco cried. In return all he got was a laugh from Harry, who continued to enjoy the music.

--

As Harry predicted, a couple of hours had passed, equipped with a lot of shouted complaints and whining from Draco through out the show, the concert finally ended.

Both men were now walking down the street to find a place where they could Apparate discreetly.

“Sorry you didn’t enjoy yourself tonight, Draco.” Said Harry who didn’t sound sorry at all, but amused at the sight of the blond with his pinky jabbed into his ear.

“WHAT? Sorry I can’t hear you, there is a buzzing in my ear and it won’t go away!”

“The buzzing will be like that for a while!” Harry said loud enough so that Draco could hear, “I was like that after my first rock concert too!”

“How long?!”

“It should subside by tomorrow!”

“TOMORROW!” Draco cried.

Harry laughed at the sight of bemusement upon Draco’s face and nodded.
