Prologue
Disclaimer: I own nothing. J.K. Rowling is ruler of this domain, I just play there. This story will contain slash in future chapters, if you don't like it, don't read it.
PROLOGUE
The weeks following Albus Dumbledore’s death were the most difficult that Harry Potter had ever known. He had lost the only person holding his sanity since the death of Sirius Black, his godfather. This was made worse by the fact that Dumbledore died on the first anniversary of Sirius’ death.
After returning to the Dursley residence, as he had promised Dumbledore he would when he was picked up the previous summer, Harry started to plan. He needed to gain enough power to end Lord Voldemort’s reign of terror once and for all and get the wizarding world back on its feet. Harry made a list of all that he needed to accomplish in order to save the wizarding world, not just to destroy Voldemort.
1. Train his body and his magic to reach peak fighting condition.
2. Find and destroy the horcruxes.
3. Kill Lord Voldemort.
4. Reform the Ministry of Magic.
5. Ensure that the magical community is kept safe from muggles and future dark lords.
He was currently working on the first task (at least the training of his body since he couldn’t use magic outside of school until his birthday) and was trying to determine if he should reform the ministry first, so that they could assist him in destroying Voldemort, or destroying Voldemort on his own. After several days of contemplation he decided that he would need all the help he could get as back-up. He would be too busy with Voldemort to worry about the remaining Death Eaters.
With that determined, he found that he would also need help in becoming an influential force in the current government before he could make the changes that he thought needed to be made. In order to do this he would need to become a public figure (even more so than he already was) and become knowledgeable in all of the current laws and customs of the wizarding world.
He already had an avenue to enter into the wizarding government. Rufus Scrimgeor had repeatedly asked him to help the ministry with its public image. He would take up the offer now. His only impediment to making a difference in the government was his knowledge of wizarding laws and customs; the purebloods that currently ruled at the ministry would not look kindly at his lack of knowledge.
He would of course also need a complete make-over; however, as he had never owned clothing that fit let alone looked good, he would also need someone with fashion sense to help him select clothing that would make him look good enough to be in the public eye. Thinking about all that he had to do to accomplish his goals he made another list, this one contained the traits he needed in a person that could guide his new political career.
He needed an associate that was elegant, poised and aristocratic, charming, had contacts in wizarding government, and had the knowledge of wizarding society he sought. He could only think of one person that fit that description; he even had knowledge of Voldemort’s thought process and maybe even some of his current plans. The only problem was that he was currently serving a life sentence for attempting to murder him and Death Eater involvement. That man was Lucius Malfoy.
