Fred sat curled up on the sofa, wallowing in self pity, smoking his way through a packet of Marlboro reds. He’d been replaced. George had a new soul-mate; someone Fred could never compete with – a lover. He supposed it had been imminent that one of them would enter into a serious relationship before the other, and he’d expected to feel a little down about it. But that Fred was with a man, that was the bit that was difficult to take in. How long had George known he liked guys? And why hadn’t he been able to confide in his twin about it? Fred felt betrayed, he’d always told George everything. He didn’t have a problem with homosexuality, but they were twins – genetically identical twins – surely if George was gay, Fred would be too? But Fred was relieved to have no feelings whatsoever for anyone of the same gender.
It was certainly the end of an important era of his life. No longer would he be seen as joined at the hip with his brother, no longer would he be able to shirk responsibilities by claiming to be his brother, no longer would he have someone he could talk to any time of day or night.
He didn’t even know where he should be. He didn’t want to go back to the Burrow; he didn’t want to have to face the rest of the family on his own. He couldn’t even go to see George as he was staying at Lupin’s flat and Fred was concerned about how he might feel seeing the older man. So right now he sat on the sofa at the latest house to be named ‘Order of the Phoenix Headquarters’. It was an attractive detached property located in Surrey; not too far from Harry’s Uncle’s house. Fred’s dad had magically added a third floor to the house for extra room when meetings were called late at night. It was entertaining as the extension was not visible to muggles, and they kept staring in wonder as pigeons apparently stopped dead in midair and fell to the ground, when they flew into the building.
Fred had been staying at the house for the last couple of nights since George had explained his new relationship. The only people he’d seen wondering around on a regular basis were Moody and Tonks. Tonks had also been greatly inconvenienced by this latest turn of events – she had been living at Lupin’s, supposedly as his girlfriend. Fred felt enormously sorry for her; he’d heard her crying at night, and seen the unfocussed desperately miserable look in her eyes.
As if on cue, the door slowly opened.
Tonks shuffled into the room. The light was off and she couldn’t be bothered to turn it on. She felt like having a nice drinking session on her own in the dark. The room stank of smoke, and it was only when she was about to sit down that she realised there was someone else in the room.
“Alright?” Fred asked in a low voice.
Tonks set the bottle of whiskey down on the coffee table.
“Yeah.” She managed to reply, her voice was husky from the amount of crying she’d been doing all day. “Feel like getting plastered?” She helped herself to a cigarette from the packet Fred had left on the table.
“Sure, what are we drinking?” Fred picked up the bottle; there was just about enough light coming in through cracks in the heavy curtains for him to be able to read the label. “Huh, wouldn’t have had you down for a whiskey-chick.”
Tonks smiled slightly; whiskey had been her poison of choice since she was sixteen.
She hadn’t been expecting company on this particular binge, so she hadn’t brought glasses, but that didn’t seem to bother Fred too much as he unscrewed the cap and took a large swig directly from the bottle.
“Easy, remember to leave enough to drown my sorrows in.” She warned. What she meant of course, was that Fred should leave enough to knock her out.
“Mmm, well aged.” Fred squeaked, grimacing as the strong liquor burnt his mouth.
Tonks couldn’t help laughing, it was the first time she’d laughed since the love of her life had taken her to one side and told her that their relationship was never going to work because girls just didn’t turn him on. She took a long drag on her cigarette, and then took the bottle back from Fred, swallowing twice as much whiskey as he had.
“Yeah, that’s the stuff.” She sighed.
There was a slightly uncomfortable silence between the two of them for a few minutes, as they passed the bottle back and forth.
“I didn’t know.” Fred suddenly blurted out.
“Huh?” Tonks looked up and saw Fred staring at her apologetically.
“I didn’t even know George was gay, I swear to god, if I’d known he was trying to make a move on your boyfriend I would have told you.” The words were so run together that it took Tonks a few moments to digest the information.
When she did finally work out what it was that the boy had said, she took hold of his hand.
“I know you didn’t know.” She let go of the hand and took the bottle instead. “I should have seen the signs. He never even touched me.” She whispered the last sentence, then drank the last of the whiskey.
Fred didn’t know what to say. He felt a little embarrassed to be let in on the intimate details – or lack thereof – of someone else’s relationship. Suddenly he didn’t begrudge the happiness George and Remus had found with each other. The pretty young woman sat next to him deserved better anyways.
“I always thought Remus was too old for you.” He said, studying her profile as she stared straight ahead. “But I suppose he just likes them young…” He watched carefully as a smile broke out on her face.
“And pretty, obviously. I mean, I don’t have a problem admitting that George is incredibly handsome.” He teased, watching as Tonks’ smile grew into a grin. “Of course, you’re very attractive, too.” He added almost as an after-note.
“Cheeky bastard.” Tonks elbowed him in the ribs. “I need a smoke.”
Fred pulled the last cigarette from his packet, gave it too her, and then took out his lighter and lit it for her.
He watched as she smoked; Tonks wore dark eye make-up, but these days it had been getting a lot darker. He wasn’t sure if it was real make-up or just part of her appearance shifting abilities. Either way, it made her eyes look enormous and complemented the beautiful violet/amethyst colour of them. Her hair was dark and messy and unwashed, but somehow it was still alluring; the way it covered half her face and hung in clumps around her narrow shoulders. She was only wearing simple black jeans and a black hooded sweatshirt, but it suited the mood and made Fred feel comfortable with her presence. He inched closer to her on the couch.
When Tonks finally stubbed out the butt of the cigarette, she felt really quite light-headed.
“I think I should probably be going to bed now.” She said, standing up, worried that she was going to humiliate herself by doing something really drunk and stupid. But it was too late; her knees buckled and she flopped back onto the sofa in a fit of giggles.
“I’m drunk.” She observed, looking up at the attractive young red-head.
“No shit.” Fred grinned, “You want me to help you up to bed?” there was most certainly something suggestive in Fred’s voice, but Tonks was having trouble placing it, she cursed her low capacity for alcohol.
“Thanks.” This time when she stood up, Fred held her arm to stop her falling back down. She fell against his chest and Fred found his hands on her slim shoulders, holding her up. Tonks looked up at him and was suddenly struck by how manly he looked. His jaw was square and stubbled, and his eyes seemed so much more mature than usual. He was looking down at her with a pleasant expression of contemplation, when, without warning, he ducked his head down and kissed her deeply and passionately. Tonks felt like she was dreaming. And for the first time in his life, Fred felt like a man, as opposed to the boy he always acted like.
When he drew away, Tonks was breathless, she looked up at him with awe. Then she brushed his hands away from her shoulders.
“I think I could probably walk now.” She turned away from him and walked towards the door.
Fred looked somewhat disappointed, until Tonks turned around.
“Are you coming, or not?”
When they reached the room that Tonks had claimed for herself, they tumbled into bed together, clumsily removing clothes and kissing. They were both naked in a matter of moments.
Fred knelt up and surveyed the stunning naked woman beneath him. Her long slender legs passed between his knees, her hands rested either side of her head and she was looking up at him with an expression of want and trepidation.
“Are you okay?” He whispered, smoothing hair out of her eyes and trying not to stare at her perfectly formed breasts.
Tonks could only nod. It had been rather a long time since she’d had sex, and she’d certainly never had sex with anyone as attractive as Fred. His upper body was a work of art, probably sculpted from years of Quidditch training. His lower body was pretty damn impressive as well.
He reached down between her legs and gently explored her with his fingers, his gaze never straying from her face.
Tonks gasped as she felt a thick yet gentle finger enter her, she bit her lip and looked up into stunning green eyes, dark with lust.
Fred leant down and kissed her softly as he replaced his fingers with his erection.
They both moaned as he sank further into her, Fred couldn’t help latching his teeth onto her neck, gently biting as he concentrated on not exploding into her then and there. He felt Tonks’ nails digging into his shoulders, but he didn’t mind a bit.
He moved on top of her like a wave washing over the shore repeatedly with a calm rocking rhythm. As they made love, Tonks felt as though Fred was the only man in the world. And Fred forgot that he even had a twin.
The tempo slowly progressed from gentle to moderate as they both writhed in pleasure on 100% Egyptian cotton sheets.
Tonks adjusted the angle of her hips on the bed and they both gasped with delight. She pressed her hips upwards and wrapped her legs around Fred’s waist, giving him greater penetration, and allowing him to press against her g-spot.
Fred’s thrusts became more and more erratic, as did his breathing, and when Tonks cried out in utter bliss and contracted around his member, it was all he could do to stop himself screaming.
They lay together panting for a few minutes, then Fred rolled off her. He lay on his back and pulled Tonks onto his chest, smiling to himself as she snuggled against his shoulder. He pulled the sheet over them for warmth.
“’Night Sweetie.” Fred whispered.
End
A/N: Happy fluffy one-shot. what more could you ask? Please review! I know there wasn’t much to it, but I would like to know what you think. Sorry if I ‘Sue-d’ Tonks up a bit too much, I tried to keep it neutral.
