Chapter One: Fate of Hogwarts
It was a nice day for all but the woman who stood against the wall in the ministry of Magic office. Her hair was pulled back in a tight bun and her eyes burned with concern behind her square shaped glasses. She was dressed in a black robe. Her hand tightly griped her pointed black hat. She smiled at the balding red haired man heading her way. \"Ah, Arthur Weasly, are you going to the meeting too?\" she asked solemnly.
Mr. Weasly nodded. \"Yes Ms. McGonagall. The decision that is made will effect my family.\"
Ms. McGonagall sighed. \"I hope all goes well. I don\'t want Hogwarts to close.\" She said rather solemnly. Mr. Weasly nodded in understanding. He knew what that would mean. He was going to say he hoped all went well but a loud chime resounded through the office. “It is time for the meeting. Let’s just hope all goes well.”
They walked to a office twenty-two and entered. There were a lot of people all ready taking their places. Chat broke out over what the fate of Hogwarts should be. The Prime Minister Scrimgeour walked in looking very exhausted he took his place in the front of the room. “Silence.” He said loudly. Everyone looked at him and the room grew quiet. “Now we are here to decide if Hogwarts is safe enough to continue teaching students. We will here from Adalie Adward.”
Adward a small plump woman with a small button nose wearing a scowl stood up. “I think it should be closed for the students own safety. My own daughter would’ve been attending, however with the occurrences of last year, I do not want her there. It isn’t safe for anyone to be there.”
Pr. McGonagall held her lips tight as another woman stood up. “I am Susan Sanders. I do not wish the school to continue. Dumbledore didn’t run it very effectively.” A lot of murmurs of agreements broke out.
Scrimgeour frowned. “Now we will hear from Pr. McGonagall the headmistress of Hogwarts.”
Pr. McGonagall stood up looking quite dignified. “The dark lord is back, as such no place is one hundred percent safe. However Hogwarts is the safest place in England for the students. However I believe that it should be the students and their parents or guardians who decide weather or not Hogwarts should continue. Not the Ministry of Magic. With all due respect Prime Minister Scrimgeour.”
Mr. Weasly spoke up next. “I am Arthur Weasly a proud worker for the ministry of Magic and a parent of seven children all who attended Hogwarts. My son and Daughter both wish to continue. I believe and agree with Pr. McGonagall.” Scrimgeour called for silence. They voted and decided that there would be a vote in two days for the students, Parents and teachers to decide the fate of Hogwarts.
Mrs. Weasly was surprised at the turnout of the meeting and was torn with the decision herself. While she did agree it would be a safe place and that Ron and Ginny should finish out there year she didn’t want her kids so far away. She was a worry wart. Ron and Ginny were excited and happy by the news. Ron had run upstairs to write and tell Harry the news. And Ginny wanted to tell her friends. “Don’t worry dear.” Mr. Weasly told his wife and kissed her cheek. “It will all be all right.”
Two days later Mr. and Mrs. Weasly along with Ron and Ginny waited at the fire place for the headmistress of Hogwarts to tell them the outcome. Pr. McGonagall stepped into the living room looking quite tired. “Sorry that I’m late, I had….important matters to attend to.” she said wiping dust from her robes.
“It’s okay. Would you like some tea?” Mrs. Weasly asked already going into the kitchen to fix it.
“Thank you. The vote will be out in the Daily Prophet tomorrow. Hogwarts won’t be closed. Ron will be able to finish his last year.”
Ron smiled. “That will be great.”
Pr. McGonagall nodded. “It will be a crazy year.” she stated. “I hope that you are up to it. Perhaps you should go and write to Harry. He voted and I’m sure he will be relieved to here the news.”
