A Dragon and His Kitten
Chapter One
The Hunter and His Prey
Night. A cold winter night.
The girl ran through the woods, trying to find an easy path through the deep snow.
She ran as if the hounds of hell were at her heels.
No, no dogs chased this girl. Only a dragon.
Only this dragon did not breathe fire and soar through the sky with his wings.
No, this dragon had a quick, sharp tongue and ran as if the chill in the air had no effect on him.
He had been tracking her since she escaped the dark circle. Once she fled, he asked his Lord for her, as a prize. To his extreme delight, he said yes.
Smirking at this thought, the dragon stared at the fleeing girl. He started to fall behind only to have a burst of speed, running even faster than before.
The girl, now breathing heavily and crying silently, fell. Her tears had blurred her eyes and she had not seen the bump in the snow, the knotty root of a great tree.
The dragon smiled his victory at hand. He pulled out a smooth, wood object, murmured foreign words and the girl was bound in rope, floating in the air. He finally came upon her, looking at her unconscious face.
He touched her cheek gently, tracing a wound he had left there not even a week before. His silver eyes studied her spell altered features.
\"I found you, Kitten,\" He whispered into the night, \"And now, I\'ll never let you go.\"
