Star-crossed Lovers

Disclaimer: I don\'t own any of this, and I\'m not making money off of this.

Warnings: Just angst, and a little profanity.

A/N: This is just a short little one-shot I thought up today. It has nothing to do with any of my other fics. Hope you enjoy.

“Why are you acting like this, Harry?” Draco shot out coldly. He was covered in sweat as he sat in the bed next to his raven-haired lover.

“Draco, this wasn’t meant to be. I’m sorry, but it’s just not,” Harry said after he handed Draco a glass of water to cool him off.

Draco gulped it down furiously and chucked the glass against the wall, shattering it into oblivion.

Harry lowered his head in shame. “Just look at us. We come from two different worlds. Our paths are too different. I’m with the Order, and you are a Death Eater…” but Draco cut him off.

“Who gives a flying fuck, Harry?! I love you. Isn’t that the only thing that should matter?!” the blond pleaded.

“Sometimes that’s just not enough,” Harry said emotionlessly.

“Why, Harry? Why are you doing this to me? To us?” Draco asked as tears welled up in his silver orbs. He tried to give Harry a hug, but Harry moved out of the way and off the bed.

“I’m sorry, but we just can’t be together anymore. If this continues, you or I or both of us could wind up dead. I care for you too much for that to happen,” Harry said in almost a whisper.

Draco stood from the bed and tried to embrace him again, but once more Harry moved away. The young Death Eater began to cry.

“Harry, please don’t do this. If you care about me so much then you won’t do this to us.”

Harry just shook his head. \"It’s not like it matters anymore, anyway. What’s done is done.”

“What do you mean?” Draco asked through red-ringed eyes.

“I’m sorry,” was all Harry could manage.

“Harry, what did you do?” Draco got down on his knees and begged.

Harry looked to the smashed cup that Draco had thrown earlier. “The water I gave you, it wasn’t just water.”

“What?” Draco’s mind went racing.

“It had a potion in it. It’s called Star-crossed Lovers. It puts you into a deep sleep, and when you wake up you have forgotten all about the person you are not meant to love,” Harry said with water in his eyes now, too.

Draco curled into a ball on the floor. “No. You couldn’t have. I would have tasted…”

Harry cut in. “No you wouldn’t have. It’s colorless, odorless, and tasteless.”

Draco bawled harder. “Harry, I love you so much. Why? Why?”

“I’m sorry, but this just isn’t right. I love you too, but we can’t be together anymore. I’m so sorry,” Harry said with his head held low.

“But you haven’t taken any yet. You didn’t drink any of it. If you don’t drink it, then I won’t forget,” Draco’s look showed promise.

“It doesn’t work like that. It is already starting to take effect on you,” Harry pointed out as Draco yawned. “Once you go to sleep, you can’t wake up until I take the other half.”

Draco shook his head and sniffled. “Please say it’s not true. I love you, Harry. Don’t do this.”

“It’s too late. Don’t worry about this. When you wake up, you won’t remember anything about me. It’s better this way…” Harry trailed off. He hated to do this, but he had no other choice.

Draco was starting to nod off, and could barely keep his eyes open. “I love you and I’ll miss you,” he said groggily.

“No you won’t,” Harry said as Draco fell into the deepest sleep of his life.

Harry picked him up from the floor and placed him on the bed. He pulled the covers up and tucked Draco in. “Goodbye.” He leaned down and kissed him one last time before Disapparating to his own little flat in Muggle-London.

He threw himself onto the bed, and pulled a small glass vile out of his robes. He looked at it for a moment and sighed. “Let’s get this over with,” he whispered to himself as he uncorked the potion. He took it down quickly and rolled over.

He thought back to all the great times he had with Draco. When they were together, those were the best times of his life. He couldn’t imagine forgetting all of them. But soon, his lids began to get heavy. His breathing leveled out. Darkness found its way around him. And for the final time, he thought about his Draco.

A/N: Again, just a little one-shot piece with nothing to do with my other stories. It’s kind of sloppy. I might come back later and rewrite it, but just had to get it down for now. Please rate and review.

Thanks bunches,
