Our story was quite different from other couples. We met each other for the first time as student and teacher. Our relationship was not a good one during the years that I attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. As I was a Gryffindor and he the head of Slytherin house, he was not very happy that I was better in potions than half of his Slytherin gang all put together. But today I know that we both loved each other very much even then, even though it did not seem like it.

Three years after I had finished at Hogwarts, I went to one of the parties they had there every year. I had been invited this year as Dumbledore’s guest—he was trying to persuade me to start teaching at his school. But I was not too sure that I wanted to be so close to Severus again. At that time, I didn’t know the nature of his feelings towards me. But, fortunately or unfortunately, we both drank a very strong love potion that night. Neither of us knew, of course. It worked like this: it would not create love, like many other love potions, but the love that you already felt for the other person would turn into obsession. We where bound together forever; we would not be able to function without each other. After some years we learned that it was Albus who had spiked our drinks, using one of Severus’ own potions and hiding the antidote recipe.

That night ended with Severus and I finding each other on the school grounds. We slept together, and I got pregnant. After a lot of trouble and other issues, we got married, and nine months after our first “meeting” on the school grounds, I gave birth to a little boy. We gave him the name “Tobias Prince Snape,” after Severus’ father. I took the job that Dumbledore had offered me. I started teaching six years before Harry Potter started attending Hogwarts. At that time Tobias had turned eight years old, and he was the heart of his father.

I had of course heard the stories of Severus, of what he was doing before he started teaching at Hogwarts. He had only told me what he felt was necessary, nothing more. He obviously didn’t like talking about it, and I didn’t push him into telling any more. Therefore, I didn’t know much more than most other people. But I trusted him. Something that was a big mistake, but I would not know that until six years after I started teaching.

Voldemort’s defeat eleven years before Harry’s first day at Hogwarts made us all believe that we were safe. None of us ever thought he would return. But he did, in some way, in Harry’s first year and second year. In the fourth year he came back in “full strength,” and the war had begun again. Somewhere amongst these happenings, Severus and I had another child, a girl by the name of, “Anitra Angel Snape.” I will tell you my story from the following summer and further on.

Dumbledore had called all his trusted friends and informed them of the return of the Dark Lord. Severus and I were amongst them. We reopened the Order of the Phoenix, which was the “anti-Voldemort” movement. Sirius Black had been so kind as to loan us his house for headquarters. This would be the place where everything happened—all planning, meetings and information. The children and I spent most of our summer at the headquarters. Severus was very busy doing undercover work, but he popped in every now and then, and when he did he usually stayed a couple of days.

Harry was brought to the headquarters a few weeks before start of school term. There had been some trouble at his muggle home, and he had been issued a hearing from the Ministry of Magic. He was not as safe in his muggle home as he used to be, therefore Dumbledore’s decision was to bring Harry to the headquarters. There, people would be watching him 24/7.

The night Harry arrived, there were some issues among the teachers, the parents and the rest of the order who actually was of age. It was quite a quarrel between the people who would like to tell Harry what was happening in the order, and the ones that were against it. Sirius, who, after all, was Harry’s godfather, demanded that Harry was to be updated on the Order’s work. Molly Weasley did not approve of this at all. He was not of age, as she said; it was outrageous.

“He is not James, Sirius!” Molly cried, slamming her fist in the table. “I will not have it!” Her face was a bright purple one and her eyes slightly watery.

Sirius stared at her with his mouth wide open. He was lost for words, no doubt. I could tell it would be wise not to take sides, so it was about time for me to leave the discussion. I was about to get up from my chair when Sirius, full of rage, caught my eye. This did not bode well.

“Alexis! You are the clever one of us, tell me what you think!” Sirius demanded with hope in his eyes.

I stared at him, caught in the act. “No, I’m sorry guys, but I’m going to take the kids to bed,” I said, feeling rather guilty. Of course the matter concerned me as well, and I did have my opinion of the case, but I didn’t really want to get involved. “It is quite late, you know,” I said, standing up.

Molly looked at me with an accusing eye. I leaned slightly over the chair and swallowed hard. “Well, if it really is necessary,” I started, “I think Harry has a right to know. This matter involves him just as much as it involves the rest of us. If it hadn’t been for Harry, we wouldn’t know as much as we actually do. Now, if you would kindly excuse me, I have children to put in bed.”

I found Tobias and Anitra with the house-elf, Kreacher. He was very bad company, saying a lot of very sick things—things that Severus actually could have said, I am afraid. But he never said these things in the children’s presence, even though I think it crossed his mind.

After I had gotten the children washed up and brushed their teeth, I put them to bed and read a story for them. After about half an hour, they fell asleep. I sat on the chair by the bed, watching them as they where sleeping soundly. Tobias had grown to look a lot like his father—well, at least, he had gotten his father’s good looking features. Only, Tobias had longer hair than Severus. The rest of his features he had obviously gotten from me.

Anitra looked very much like me—she had my curls, my blue eyes and my good mood. Tobias, on the other hand, had inherited his father’s bad mood. He was a lovely boy, but he had a tendency to get grumpy. Both Tobias and Anitra had a were intelligent, and their magic skills, their age considered, were extremely well developed.

At about twelve o’clock, Severus walked through the bedroom door. I wasn’t even aware that he was coming. He threw off his travelling cloak and sat down on the bed.

“Come, give me a kiss, darling,” he said tiredly as he reached out his arm, beckoning me over to him.

I sat down on the edge of the bed and kissed him lovingly. “I didn’t think you were coming until Monday,” I said, stroking his hair.

He lay down on the bed, obviously very tired. “Well, I have to be off in the morning,” he said, closing his eyes.

“Did they involve you in the fight downstairs? Or where they finished?” I asked, still stroking his hair.

“I don’t know; I didn’t talk to anyone.”

“I think maybe you should have a talk with Tobias, Severus,” I said, worried. “He’s becoming a very difficult boy. He spends too much time with you, and you teach him all these… these… well, he’s too much like you.”

Severus smiled, satisfied. “There’s nothing wrong with that,” he said, kissing me. “I am a very charming person.”

I looked at him with a raised brow.

“All right, all right; I’ll talk to him.”

When I woke up the next morning, Severus was sitting in the children’s room, talking to Tobias. This September, Tobias would start in the second grade at Hogwarts. He was a big boy now, and I was already afraid he might be too much like his father.
