I do not own Harry Potter, nor any of the characters from the books or movies. I do not make any money from the writing of this story.
Blind to the truth.
(This story takes place in Harry’s, Hermione’s, and Ron’s fourth year. ^^) I do not own any of these characters. Feedback would be greatly appreciated. If anyone thinks there is anything I can do to improve, please, feel free to tell me.

A line of crimson ran down her arm. Blinking back the tears that threatened to spill from her large, chocolate coloured eyes, she ran the blade across her arm again in a swift motion. Her bushy brown hair hung messily about her face as she sat cross-legged on her bed alone in the dormitory.
It was times like this that she would wish she’d disappear from the world. It wasn’t like anyone cared about a ‘know-it-all’ fourth year student with top grades. She just didn’t belong. Sure, Hermione thought to herself, I have Ron and Harry with me, but I bet they think I’m just a tag-along…
The girl bit down on her bottom lip, drawing blood. Switching the blade to her other hand, she absentmindedly slid the sharp edge across her other arm, deeper than what she’d done previously. She hissed at the pain, though in her mind, she found it soothing, calming.
She watched the blood stream down her hands and onto her jeans and her clean sheets. She smiled knowingly to herself, content with the carved lines in her arms. They told a story of a tragic, lonely girl who was tired of putting on a show for everyone. It spoke of how the girl wanted to act herself, but was scared that she would be hated. The girl wanted to be accepted as more than just what she had pretended to be and she wanted him to love her…
Him. That one simple boy that had captured her heart. His fiery hair, his sparkling eyes, his humor. She was drawn to the boy whom had been her friend since their first year at Hogwarts. But Hermione was scared to tell the boy what her feelings were. She was afraid to confront Ron about how she felt, because she was sure that he didn’t like her the same way.
Turning her head to the right, the hangings of her bed overshadowing her whole body, she gazed out of the window. Grey clouds covered the sky and snow drifted heavily outside the castle walls. Standing up, the fourth year girl moved slowly towards the window, scarlet blood dripping down to her fingers and onto the floor.
Drip. Drip.
The sound was deaf to her as she stood, now leaning against the cold glass of the window. Her face showed no emotion now as her mind wandered off into the place where she kept all her secrets. She pressed her forehead against the cool glass and placed her blood soaked hand on the window frame.
“He’ll never see me as I truly am.. He’ll never love me like I love him…” Hermione whispered to herself, letting her hand slide down from the frame and onto the glass. Her fingers slipped down the slick surface, leaving a bloody trail in its wake. The snow outside swirled around her window, the wind howling loudly in anguish, leaving Hermione in her own, crimson, winter wonderland…

Downstairs in the common room, Ron and Harry where chatting together, trying to finish their essays for Professor Snape’s class.
“Blimey, Harry. I don’t know what any of this is. What was that potion supposed to do, ne’ways?”
Harry shrugged, flipping through his potions book. This was about the time he wished Hermione was around. She always knew how to help them, even if she did make them read through things and figure it out on their own, but she’d always been willing to guide them to the right answers.
Ron let out a small, frustrated sigh. “Where is Hermione when you need her?!”
“I was thinking the same thing.” Harry replied, then paused. “Wait, Ron, have you seen her at all today? It’s way past noon and she didn’t even go to breakfast.”
“Uh. I honestly didn’t notice she was gone.” His cheeks flushed as he looked guiltily at Harry.
“Ron! How can you ‘not notice she’s gone’?” Harry questioned, rolling his eyes at his friend. Ron never paid much attention when food was involved.
“Ah, don’t mention it to her, please Harry?” The orange haired boy pleaded.
“I wont even remember it, Ron.” Harry said lazily then yawned loudly.
Ron grinned at him, then turned back to his unfinished essay, determined to get some of it done before he had to seek out Hermione for help. She was usually down in the common room, working or reading some book, if not those, criticizing them on their own work but lately, she’d been avoiding them. She’d disappeared often without saying anything to them, but Ron had ignored it, thinking that all girls were like that.
He scribbled down two sentences about the use of the potion he was looking up, writing as big as he dared possible for Snape’s class, and was then absorbed in finding more information in his book, all thoughts of Hermione leaving his mind.
