Chapter 1: Freedom

Escaping was the easy part. How funny that sounds when you\'ve escaped from Azkaban. Only Black\'s done it so far, and they can count me now. With out the dementors around finding a portal out of there was simple... Unfortunately, and that\'s how most things have been going for me, I did not know where it would take me- nor did I have time to get my wand.

Maybe I was safer in Azkaban.

I certainately wouldn\'t be wandering around in an awful desert, with the sun scorching what ever bits of my flesh could be seen through my ragged prison uniform. How long has it been since I\'ve been free? Maybe a year now, I don\'t know. Haven\'t heard from Draco in that time either, but I don\'t blame the boy in the least. Even if he had tried to send me anything they would have taken it before I even knew. But I had failed. Failed my lord and master. I deserve to die in whatever place I\'ve escaped to- I only wish I could have seen Draco one last time. I could have warned him- sent him to Dumbledore. He would have protected him, saved him from being a Death Eater. I\'ve got to assume he\'s taken my place, and it makes me ill. I knew he would be come one later in life, but at 16? He\'s still a boy!

It made my heart ache to an impossible level. Or mayhap, that could be a heart attack. \"How fitting! How fitting to die of a muggle ailment!\" I scoffed loudly to no one in particular, but the various spiky green plants. But it couldn\'t be a heart attack, I was in fit condition before I entered Azkaban. Maybe dehydration- ah yes, that seems much more logical. Either way, I\'m going to die.

My eyes must be playing tricks on me, cruel, nasty tricks. Making me think that there\'s a... a... house... Oh, it looks so close... My body gave up- I can\'t go on any longer. I fell to the ground, my face burning against the hot earth.

...

Shawn Michaels, a local in the area, had bought the Lazy I ranch not too long ago as part of an retreat for children\'s charities. On his free time from the WWE he loved taking orphans from the San Antonio Children\'s Home for weekend visits. And this so happened to be one of those weekends.

He grinned to the pack of wide eyed kids and motioned them on. \"Come on, guys! The horses won\'t take off on ya! They\'re as tame as can be and don\'t spook easily.\"

It seemed to calm them a little, and timidly they brought their horses to a trot to keep up with Shawn. This was the kind of thing that officials from the orphanage loved to see- a wealthy, some what of a celebrity man helping out the less fortunate. And it always helped that Shawn was gorgeous- so many aids tried to sign up for this trip there was nearly a fist fight to see who would be picked to go along. The two that had one sat high on their saddles along the side of the group of children, hoping that Shawn would give them a look.

\"Hey, HBK! There\'s a man over there!\" One of the young girls shouted pointing off to a small lump of a man laying helpless several feet to the left.

Shawn stopped his horse, bringing his hand to shield his eyes. \"Cindy, Adam- Take the kids back to the ranch!\"

\"But HBK, what if..\"

\"Go! Get Dr. Hansen up and out of bed, if he\'s alive this man is going to need alot of help.\" Shawn said firmly. Crushed, Adam and Cindy rounded up the pack of curious children heading them back to the ranch.
Shawn frowned deeply, bring his horse to a gallop. He might be bringing back a corpse- not many people lasted this long in this kind of heat. The blonde haired man quickly came into view, Shawn nearly leaping off his horse to run over to the body. \"Hey... Hey...\" He said kneeling down beside him. The second Shawn put his hands on Lucius\'s shoulders, the taller blonde gave a jerk.

\"Dra..Draco...\" Lucius\'s eyes opened slightly staring up at Shawn\'s gray-blue eyes briefly before they shut.

Shawn frowned carefully lifting the blonde\'s body into his arms. \"You\'ll be alright...\" He murmured hoisting him up onto the saddle, swinging him up behind Lucius. \"I\'ll make sure of it, you\'ll be okay.\" He whispered into his ear bringing his horse into a gallop.

\'Poor man must be delirious.\' He thought as the ranch came closer into view. \'This sun\'ll do it to you with out the proper protection.\' Shawn let out a small sigh, shaking his head. \'Well pal, who ever you are, you\'ve picked a good place to show up at.\'
