Beasts and Saints

For August, it was an exceptionaly cool night. The crickets seemed to have taken notice, and abandoning their nightly chourus, chose instead to rest quietly. Even the beasts who hunted nightly sought out warmth in spite of their aching stomachs, leaving their pray to live one more night. Although nature was sleeping and begged all to do the same, there was one within the forest who chose to ignore the plees as she walked quickly and so silently thru the aburn fallen leaves of the Oaks and Maples wich surrounded her. Barely a sound was heared as she brushed against the trees on this cool,
moonless night of August. She walked a path wich few had in the years passed and few would in the years to come. Her mind was not on her travels or the history of this trail, but on her destination. Her thoughs quickening the beat of her heart more so than the exerting walk. As she neared the ancient Pine, wich marked a change in route, a sharp wind found its way bettween the thick trunks and stark branches to cut into her cheek. She squinted her eyes, doing little to prevent the sting as she turned and continued along the old and forgotten path.
Thru her slightly chapped lips a name was uttered only she could hear. The tall blades of grass in the field wich she now stood, entangled her denim clad legs, soaking them with pre-dawn dew. And she gazed apon the smooth, pale face wich was fixed with a seaminly pleasent smile, and glassy dead eyes...
