HOGWARTS: THE LEGACY
by Josh Cohen
Author\'s Introduction
Some of you may have seen some of my other stories, most notably \"Untitled Ravenclaw Story\". That one started out ambitious -- it was supposed to follow a Ravenclaw who started school at the same time as Harry Potter, occasionally crossing into Harry\'s world. I enjoyed writing it, but it became a little too Mary-Sue and moved too far away from the original topic. When I stopped it, the main character had just returned to Hogwarts for Fourth Year, but I realized at that point that (a) it would be better to wait for Book Six before continuing and (b) I really didn\'t care to fight with the existing plotline anymore.
But I decided also that it would be a shame to waste all that writing I\'d done.
So, one day, I wondered what might happen in the future. After the Voldemort Wars. Several pieces on AFF have gone into this, but usually in the context of a single character or life-after-Voldemort for Our Heroes. I, on the other hand, wondered what things would be like for the next generation, the one who spent the bulk of their time after the war.
I thought about my life after Desert Storm. I spent a lot of time thinking about it while it was going on, but once it wasn\'t on the news anymore, I sort of stopped letting it occupy any space in my mind. And my late uncle was over there (he came back; his death was in the late 90s) -- I should\'ve spent a lot more time considering the implications. But I was 12. I didn\'t have the faculties to do so.
Though the wizarding world is a grand and glorious place, some things remain the same throughout. One of them is that kids who aren\'t directly affected by something will tend to forget it exists. With the younger characters in this story, the Voldemort Wars aren\'t even an issue. The older characters remember them, but even now they\'re starting to fade into the background.
One other thing: you may take issue with the maturity of some of the characters. However, the main part of this story begins in 2012. Kids are getting more and more mature at younger and younger ages. Also, the kids in this story attend what is basically a boarding school. At ages 13 and 14 -- which is how old the main kids are through the first 20 or so chapters -- these kids have begun experimenting with sexual relations, both on themselves and with other people. Fumbling, bumbling experiments, but experiments nonetheless. I have tried to maintain character.
A Few Warnings
This story contains adult content. Lots of it. Sex -- in company and in private. Bad language. Bad behavior. Mistakes made by the characters. More sex. A little kink. If you cannot handle these things, please close this page immediately.
This story also contains positive themes, like love, healthy relationships, trust, and friendship. If you cannot handle these things either, you know what to do.
It also contains exciting scenes of Quidditch. I hope you enjoy them.
Finally, this story contains character death. MAJOR character death. Be prepared.
Updates
I plan to update at least once a week, but we all know how hard it is to keep to that schedule. I\'m writing at least five chapters ahead, though, so that should help.
Recycling
I have recycled names, character descriptions, and in one case, almost an entire scene from \"Untitled Ravenclaw Story\". Don\'t hold it against me if something seems so familiar that you swear you\'ve seen it before. You just might have.
Many names are familiar. After all, we read a lot on AFF, and all the authors read each other\'s stories. If you feel I have stolen an idea of yours, or if you feel that you deserve credit (and I haven\'t already mentioned it at the end of the chapter), let me know as soon as possible, and I will make appropriate changes.
Contact
I thrive on reviews. Please leave me some. However, if you feel uncomfortable about posting things publicly, or you just want to talk to me privately about some aspect of the story, you may e-mail me using the address in my Author Page. I respond to every e-mail, except for the ones I don\'t respond to.
Enough already!
