Prologue
A long time as the moon replaced the sun. The shadows of the night danced at the walls of the houses. The city looked completely deserted at this time of the night. Actually there was nobody on the streets. You were able to hear the contemptuous croaking of the Ravens, who were sitting at the steeple.
I did not know why, but something forced me, the night - at the very moment - , to walk through the lonely and abandoned streets of the city.
The moon looked at me with his sad expression. I walked through the streets, without knowing, where my way would end. The enormous bells of the steeple toll me that it was one o\'clock. Suddenly the Clouds pulled together, they were black like the feathers of the ravens. I did not feel comfortable, but I walked on. Step by step my naked feet touched the cold stones of the street.
It did not take long, till it started to spit. The black Clouds swallowed every single white ray of light of the moon. The raindrops fell even harder and stronger at the ground. Very fast I was wet through and through and I was cold. But my feet carried me on.
The deep rumble of the thunder joined the patter of the rain. Lightings flashed above the earth. My heart beat faster with every single sound of the thunder. The fear, which I felt, grew with every step that I made. The coldness ran through my whole body, but I still made my way.
Was it only that I forced myself to act like this? To walk through this old city, in the middle of this icy cold night? I stopped in front of a side street. Everything I saw was the darkness. It was very hard to made out anything. My fear weighed heavily on me. It was hard to breathe. Normally I would have run away much earlier, in a situation like this. But something held me. A voice inside of me said that I should, - no - ; that I must went into this side street.
What would expect me there? Only very slow my eyes got used to the darkness. Every second seemed to be a whole minute. Was I in something like a trance? No. I was not!
Suddenly I saw him.
I did not know who he was. I lost my breath.
He leant on the wall; his black eyes looked up to the sky. He said no word and it seemed to me that he had not noticed me yet. I saw how his blood mixed up with the puddles at the ground. His black clothes seemed to be very heavy.
He had pitch-dark wings.
Wings like an angel.
But did angels not normally have white wings?
I was so fascinated and shocked at the same time, that I frightened when he asked me: \"Who are you?\"
His look was still up to the sky. As I heard his voice, I started to tremble even more. I heard such a deep and velvety voice never before.
It was difficult for me to answer.
\"My name is Najade. What .... What is your name?\"
My voice was not louder than a whisper.
His mouth forced to a tortured smile. I never thought, that from this moment his name hunted me forever.
His name was.....
