Teddy Bear

Severus stared up at the Potter\'s house. Almost a year before, James and him had buried the hatchet. The reason for their animosity for so long was the fact that they were both veela\'s, and they had smelled something odd about the other\'s scent. They weren\'t mates, but it was something like it but neither of them could quite place it.

Sometimes James would come and visit Severus at Hogwarts where he taught potions class. They enjoyed going for a drink every now and then. They were becoming friends. Not once had Lilly and James invited him over to their home. For some reason, they did for tonight.

They had just told him to wear something comfortable and come on over. He was standing in front of their house, wearing a pair of pants and a loose shirt. He heaved a sigh, and walked up to the door and knocked sharply. The door opened and Lilly beamed at him.

\"Severus! You arrived!\" She cried and threw her arms around him. She was one of the only other person who knew that he was a veela besides James. He had never told anyone and didn\'t want to. James had never told anyone that he was a veela either. He had only told Lilly after they were married.

\"Hello Lilly.\" Severus said, and kissed her lightly on the cheek. She siezed his hand and dragged him into the house where they had set up a dinner. They ate lightly, laughing and talking. It was rare times like this when Severus was truly happy.

\"Mama?\" A soft voice asked. Everyone turned to see a baby Harry standing in the doorway. Severus had never seen Harry before, and when he did, a scent hit him. A scent that would drive him crazy. James smelled it too and quickly looked over at Severus to see how he was reacting.

\"Harry, how did you get out of your cradle?\" Lilly demanded, standing up. Harry wasn\'t looking at her anymore, he was looking over at Severus.

\"Mine!\" He yelled, ran over to Severus and attached himself to Severus\'s leg. Severus stared down into a pair of green eyes. \"Mine.\" Harry said a bit more softly. Harry fell back asleep in minutes, and Lilly collected Harry and carried him off to bed, apologizing to Severus.

\"Oh! She forgot Harry\'s bear. I\'ll be right back.\" James said, picking up the bear and disappeared. He returned with Lilly.

\"It\'s late. I\'ll let you two go to bed. I apologize for keeping you up this long.\" Severus informed them. They bid him farewell, and after collecting his cloak, Severus returned back to Hogwarts and to his dungeons.

He couldn\'t sleep. How could he? He had just found his life mate and he was only a year old, if even that! He paced around his room and finally collapsed into his favorite chair. He then caught his mate\'s scent and looked around, surprised. He then felt the lump in his cloak, and reached into one of the pockets.

He pulled out a teddy bear with emerald eyes. It was baby Harry\'s teddy bear. There was a note pinned to the bear.

Severus stared at the note before he smiled. He hugged the teddybear against his chest, and inhaled his mate\'s scent deeply. He relaxed and went to bed, happy for the first time in years.
