I\'ve found a reason for me,
To change who I used to be,
A reason to start over new,
and the reason is you.

“You have arrived, my loyal servant.”

Severus Snape raised his head respectfully even as he remained prostrated at Voldemort’s feet, knowing that a reply was not expected. The tall, dark-haired man did not even look at him as the young Death Eater manning the entrance to his bedchamber announced Severus’ arrival. Instead, his eyes were closed and his head thrown back as he reclined in his chair, evidently enjoying the attention a naked muggle boy was lavishing on his cock with his painted red lips. As the boy finished his ministrations, the Dark Lord patted him almost absent-mindedly on the head and rearranged the voluminous folds of his robes. Another cloaked Death Eater came forward, and putting a leash upon the docile boy, led him away. From within the hood of his cloak Severus noted the glazed, almost blank look in the boy’s eyes.

Sycus , He thought. That would be the potion that had reduced this poor child to the level of a mindless sex slave, obedient and happy to obey any command. His disgust towards his “master” increased, and he tried to keep his face carefully blank. It would not do to have Voldemort suspect him of disloyalty when his increased trust in Severus, especially after Lucius Malfoy’s death, had allowed Dumbledore’s Order to cripple recent planned waves of terror on the wizarding world. For the first time since the War, it seemed that the side of Light had a chance. Severus was not going to wreck all that. Lowering his head back so that it touched the lavish carpet, he murmured in his most respectful tone.

“I came to you as soon as I received your summons, my Lord.” He knew that this sudden summons had something to do with Harry Potter’s capture just two days ago. Had he been summoned to be informed that Potter had been tortured into submission? That Potter had revealed his role as a spy? That Potter had been killed? He winced mentally at the last thought.

One slender hand suddenly rested on his cheek, and Severus forced himself not to jerk away in surprise and disgust as Voldemort trailed his finger down his cheek and tilted his chin upwards. His eyes met clear vermilion ones, untinged by any trace of lust or satiation remaining from being so recently pleasured.

“I’ve always thought it a shame you weren’t younger...”

Severus kept his face blank as Voldemort’s hand strayed to his lips, tracing the bottom lip almost thoughtfully. Thank god I’m not, He thought. The Lord’s lust for young boys were notorious, and he was grateful for the thirty-five years he had accumulated, which marked him as no young boy. He breathed an inward sign of relief as Voldemort’s hand fell away and he gestured for Severus to stand.

“I have great news, Severus. News that will ensure our almost certain victory in this tiresome war. News that will reduce Dumbledore and those children of his to nothing.” He sneered distastefully as he pronounced his nemesis’ name.

Severus’ insides lurched chaotically, even as he calmly replied, “ Really? And what is this great news?” What had happened? Had Voldemort really killed off Potter, the last hope of the wizarding world? Despite his dislike of the brat, Severus had to concede that his survival was necessary. Voldemort had killed too many magical talents- the young Hermione Granger, most of the Weasleys, Lupin, even Minerva... if Potter were killed as well the Order was sure to collapse.

Voldemort smiled at him, a slow, almost jubilant smile.

“Why, the great Harry Potter is now my servant. Isn’t that news to be celebrated?”

This time, he could not control his shock, which showed plainly in his eyes. Aghast at his loss of control, he steeled his features and spoke in the relatively unemotional voice that was usual for him.

“My congratulations, my Lord. May I ask how you accomplished this so quickly?”

“As you accompany me to his chamber, I will enlighten you on that,” Voldemort strode purposefully out of the room, ignoring the young Death Eater’s clumsy bow as he swept pass. Badly shaken, Severus forced himself to follow in his wake.

As they walked pass groups of hastily bowing Death Eaters and through the dimly lit hallways of Voldemort’s stronghold, Severus tried unsuccessfully to stem the rising tide of panic inside him. Voldemort had slowed to a stroll, and now sounded as if he was taking a walk as he talked to Severus in almost leisurely tones.

“It was so easy... I ordered intensive torture the first day, you know, but Mr Potter seemed actually to be welcoming it, so it was changed to threats of death.... But he seemed even happier at that. Than, I fed him Desiron.”

Severus almost came to a halt. Desiron. His creation. This potion took the unfortunate victim’s greatest desire and intensified it a hundredfold, making it unbearable. Voldemort had used this to pry information from his prisoners, promising that he would satisfy their desire in return. But of course, he simply killed them off after he had attained his information.

They came to a stop in front of a heavy oak door, Severus almost crashing into Voldemort.

“It’s not locked,” Severus frowned.

“Why, there’s no need. Anyway, as I expected, Desiron had no effect on Mr Potter. His magical resistance is simply too powerful.”

Severus released a breath he did not even know he had been holding.

“It was a pleasant surprise, however, when he told me he knew what I was trying to do, and,” Here the Dark Lord paused as he pushed open the door.

“And he told me what he wanted to strike a bargain.”

The massive door creaked as it opened, and in the dim light Severus was able to make out an opulently furnished room. A slim figure stood by the window, staring out the starless black sky.

“You know what he said, my Severus?” At that Voldemort turned to look at him. His burgundy eyes were cold and totally in contrast with his conversational tone. Severus found that he suddenly could not speak.

“He said, he would serve me, if I gave him you.”

Severus’ mind went blank. For a second he was incapable of thought, then, as he tried to collect his wits, the Dark Lord’s voice intoned casually,

“Petrificus totalus.”

He thought he saw a pair of emerald green eyes, and then he thought no more.
