Life for some people often means an easy cruise through life; they sail through always winning the battle and living happily ever after. But some people strive each day just to make sure that they will wake up tomorrow. Many walk around with scars, most of the time scars that can’t always be seen, scars that will never be seen. For some people they will never get their happily ever after, some lucky just to get an ever after whether it is happy or not. Some people walk around this world not knowing what it feels to have a tear wiped from their face by someone whom loves them. To be ill and have someone there by their side to nurse them back to health. Some people do not even know what is it means to love someone and to have their love returned.

So this story isn’t going to be one with a happy beginning, middle and end, it’s going to be one full of hurt, pain, grief, mourning but in the end two lost souls will learn the definition of love. For they will learn what it means to love and what it means to be loved unconditionally by another, but I can promise that there will be a happily ever after.

Remus Lupin sat in Sirius’ bedroom, the bedroom belonging to the one person he thought he had left from the old gang. James had been killed back in 1981 along with Lily…….. Lily was the girl who had captured his heart so many years ago, back when he was but a teenage boy with more hormones then he knew what to do with. The nights they had spent together, the early mornings and all the time in between he had fallen for her. But…….it was never destined to be as she only ever had eyes for one person and that wasn’t him.

It hurt him a lot more then he would ever like to admit, the fact that she unknowingly broke his heart by going out with his best friend. But nothing could prepare him for the heartbreak of when they finally got married. He had always thought that they would have broken up, the amount they had always argued, they where always at each others necks. But they shared a love, a love he was so desperate to feel but when she died along with one of his best friends James, it was like part of him died along with him. It was only Sirius that kept him sane, but when Sirius was accused of causing their death by betraying their secret, then that was what hurt him the most.

He knew Sirius was innocent, he wouldn’t have told a soul anything. He knew this because over the years Sirius had become his confidant, he told the man everything about his life from the smallest worry to the biggest fear and not a word of it had ever passed his lips. He had known from the word go that when Sirius had told him he was innocent, he believed him more then 110%. But when Sirius had been taken away to Azkaban, which was when he learnt the true meaning of what is what to be lonely.

He picked up the last of Sirius’ things and put them into a box, he hated the idea of changing his room at all. But there where just somethings that had to be done, especially as his room was needed for a Order Members to stay in when they where hurt. He knew somewhere deep down inside of his heart that as wrong as it all seemed to him right now, that it would have been what Sirius would have wanted.

He could mentally see Sirius there telling him to stop being such a girl and to get the junk shifted. But he couldn’t bear to get rid of a single item that Sirius had once owned; it seemed to wrong and there where far to memories in everything. He picked up a leather jacket that was laid on the bed, Sirius’ favourite leather jacket that he had gotten back in his school days in a game of poker with a seventh year. Since that day, it had barely been off of his back, always being worn, except of course when he was in jail but that was against his will of course.

Then in a very quiet voice Remus said the words that broke his heart. “Goodbye my friend”, with that he stood up and walked out of Sirius’ room turning off the light for the last time as Sirius’ room and walked the short but painful walk to where his room was.
