Chapter 1: Lunch Time
Lunchtime at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry had almost become a spectator’s sport. All the staff seated at head table waiting anxiously for the two absentees’. Just like clockwork it was. First Severus Snape, Potions Master would come storming in, scowling. The in fluttered Sybil Trelawney. Sybil moved slowly, her reasons for the laid back pace were to create an aura of complete calmness. The Inner Eye worked wonders when surrounded by a calm aura.
Severus had only just seated himself next to Minerva McGonagall, when Sybil arrived. There were no words needed to express his feelings towards the woman. He hated her. Not as much as Potter, but he did hate her. He hated the way she would gravitate around him in the staff room, the way she always seemed to be floating near him. She didn\'t need to speak to him to annoy him. Just being present was enough.
Every lunchtime Sybil would drink her tea, then announce that Severus was going to either die or have a bad day. Once he was thankful for not being seated next to her. Minerva was always seated in between them. This always gave her the opportunity to allow herself a smirk whenever she heard the \'seer\'s\' predictions. Both Minerva and Severus believed Sybil to be a fraud. That was probably one of the only things they did agree on.
Having Minerva overhear the predictions was bad enough but on Severus\'s other side was another damned female, Sancia Sinistra. She also seemed to take delight in poking her nose into other peoples business. Severus sometimes wondered what he had done to Albus Dumbledore to make him sit in the middle of the most infuriating women on the planet. Next to Sancia sat Nevaeh Hooch, Sancia\'s partner in crime. Nevaeh was the practical joker, always up for a laugh. Usually the laughs came at Severus\'s expense and usually started with Sybil’s predictions.
Everyone was eating in an almost silence. That silence was soon broke when Sybil started one of her predictions. Severus was sure that no one else was listening and carried on eating his meal.
\'...The Dark One will find his soul mate...\' Muttered the seer.
Minerva snorted at the very idea of Severus finding a soul mate. Nevaeh heard Sybil’s prediction as well and nudged Sancia who lifted her head and looked in Sybil’s direction. The next words to come out of Sybil’s mouth brought a wide grin to Sancia\'s face.
\'...Those in league with the Dark One may laugh...He has many positive attributes...\'
Sancia prodded Severus in the side and pointed at Sybil. Severus glowered at Sancia and then at Sybil in return. Nevaeh was trying her hardest not to laugh out loud. When she had finally controlled herself she decided it was time for her input.
\'Severus your soul mate wouldn\'t happen to be your reflection would it? \'Cus if I was you I\'d get a refund on the mirror\' Nevaeh\'s comment earned her an icy glare from Severus and a few snickers from around the table. She was going to say something else when Sancia told her to shush. Nevaeh looked back at Sybil, who hadn\'t quite finished.
\'...At night time the Dark One for fills his full potential...\'
Nevaeh howling with laughter cut the rest of the prediction short. She was laughing so hard she almost fell off her chair. Everyone else started to giggle, everyone else except Severus, who sat there with his arms crossed and a sour expression across his face. When the laughter died down everyone went back to finishing his or her meal.
\'Severus?...\' Whispered Nevaeh from across the table. Severus ignored her.
\'Severus?...Severus!\' She whispered again, this time Severus turned to glare at her.
\'Ah good you\'re paying attention. I just wondered...\' Nevaeh said smirking \'If you were an animagus...would you be a donkey? \'Cus that would fit in with Sybil’s predictions\'
once again Nevaeh earned herself a glare and a few sniggers. Since the final battle and the downfall of the Dark Lord, Severus had mellowed slightly. Instead of arguing back he just ignored them. Removing himself from his seat, he stood up. As he stood up he could feel the eyes of Minerva, Sancia, Sybil, Nevaeh and all of the other female members of staff staring at his crotch. He sharply turned around and left them all sniggering at his expense.
Sancia watched him leave. A slight pang of guilt swept across her. Sure the man irritated her at times, but he didn\'t deserve the humiliation, he had to suffer at the hands of Nevaeh and Sybil. Sancia sat and watched the door where Severus had stormed out of for several minutes. Nevaeh watched her friend struggling with guilt. Sancia was always the one who felt guilt for her friend’s jokes.
\'Earth to San! Whoa thought we\'d lost you there luv\' Nevaeh said cheerily, Sancia turned to look at her and smiled a small smile.
\'Jeese San, he\'s a big boy...too big if you believe Sybil’s predictions,...he can take care of himself. It\'s like water off a ducks back\'
Sancia rolled her eyes at Nevaeh\'s implied statement. After that she soon forgot about feeling guilty and followed her friend back to the staff room
