In Search of the Truth
Harry walked through the halls of Hogwarts. He knew he had a problem, he just didn’t know what it was or what to do. Madame Pomfrey couldn’t help him on this either. The Headmaster was being elusive as ever so he headed to the one person in the school he could count on to be brutally honest with him. If he could get past the sneering tonight, he might have some answers and be able to figure out more of his life.
He shivered as he headed further into the dungeons; it was always colder down here than in the rest of the castle. Maybe that’s why the Slytherins always wore the heavier robes. He pulled his around him tighter and hurried his steps. He found the door to Snape’s rooms, took a deep breath trying to steel himself, and knocked in the pattern Severus had told him to use if he ever needed help. It was strange, but wars seemed to bring the least likely people together; he, Severus and Lucius were prime examples. Snape wasn’t a bad guy once you got to know him. It was true he was snarky and sarcastic, favored the Slytherins by force and was probably the only professor who could rattle the Bloody Baron. To be fair, he had a wicked dry wit, turned a blind eye when and where he could, was loyal to a fault and had always made sure to keep The Golden Trio from killing themselves.
Harry heard mumbling from the other side of the door as it was swung open, a hand reached out, yanked him in, closing, sealing and placing silencing spells up. He stared up at Snape and started to ask what the hell was going on, when he noticed Snape was not alone. He saw the blond hair falling to the top of the back of the chair and figured it was only Draco again. They had been getting along better since Lucius had been proven innocent and released from Azkaban. Their work together helped strengthen the friendship and when the time came, Lucius stood on one side of Harry and Severus on the other to face down the Dark Lord. Harry had only been sixteen at the time, but it seemed like a lifetime ago, when only it had been a year, actually it had been closer to fourteen months. Harry was considered legal in the Wizarding World and on the border in the Muggle World.
Harry looked at Severus. “If this isn’t a good time Professor, I can come back.” Harry glanced over to the chair. The blonde was perfectly still. Severus looked at him and sighed. “No sense in bothering me twice Potter. What is it? You can speak freely in front of Lucius.” It was then Harry moved closer to the chair and looked closer. He froze where he stood. There was a smell in the air he couldn’t identify, even among the potions and ingredients, it stood out and made him take notice. “Umm, Professor, Lucius, I need a little help. Madame Pomfrey can’t help me and the Headmaster is being secretive and twinkling again, telling me it’ll come to me soon enough. It feels like there is something wrong with me but I can’t describe it too well. It feels like there is something missing and I catch myself doing strange things like breathing deep when certain scents capture my attention. They usually pop up near Draco, but it’s fleeting and that’s it. It’s not his cologne, I’ve smelled it before and it never did this before. In fact when I just moved closer to Lucius, it hit me real hard and now it’s even harder to explain. Can you help me? Do you know what’s wrong or will you at least tell me where to find the information for myself? It’s distracting me from all my classes and I can just see me blowing something up in your lab and taking the rest of the school with us.” Harry knew that last line would get Severus’ attention.
Lucius sat in the chair, still as a statute. Severus prowled the rooms. Both older men were lost in the same thoughts. Should they tell Harry or give him the book they had worked on for years in case this ever happened. They looked at each other. Years of friendship had enabled them to communicate almost wordlessly. Lucius stared hard at Harry for minutes on end until Harry began shuffling. Severus walked over and pushed him down on the couch. He turned and looked at Lucius. Raising an eyebrow garnered a negative shake of the head. Lucius looked at Harry then to Snape. A sideways tilt and raised eyebrow received a nod back. It was agreed.
Severus cleared his throat and looked at the young man again. Where had the timid little boy gone that used to get on his nerves but whom he would have protected with his life? Somewhere and sometime Harry had grown up on them and was now a young man getting ready to embark on another path of his life and Severus and Lucius would have to see he got started on it the right way. Dumbledore was playing games again when it was time to be straightforward. “Harry, stay here with Lucius. I will be back in a few minutes. I have something that will help you.” Severus moved away with his robes billowing behind him. “How does he do that Lucius?” His only answer was a snicker.
Harry gently sniffed the air near Lucius where the scent was enticing him closer with each breath. He walked up to the side of Lucius and stood there, breathing deep. “Lucius, may I ask you a really personal question?” Harry waited in silence and anticipation. He had strange feelings flowing through him and had no idea how to control them. Lucius could see the inner turmoil and didn’t know whether to try to tease him out of it or just be himself. Without thinking, he reached a hand out and pulled Harry in closer to him, bringing him to stand between his legs. Lucius looked up and up. Yes, Harry had grown up quite nicely. “Ask me anything you want Harry. If it’s in my realm of experience you will get your answer.” Harry cleared his throat again, placing a steadying hand on the blond’s shoulder. “Lucius, do you and Draco wear the same cologne? It reminds me of his, but yours has a more subtle but alluring appeal. I know that sounds bad from one guy to another, but I can’t help it.”
Lucius looked up at Harry, moved him back a step and stood. “Harry, Draco and I do not wear the same cologne, in fact neither of us do. It doesn’t mix well with our personal chemistry. What has you bothered Harry? Talk to me, maybe I can help.” Harry stepped closer to him, bringing their bodies into full contact. “Lucius let me..” Harry couldn’t finish the sentence, instead he laid his head against the strong, wide shoulder, wrapped one arm around the waist to hold the man closer, enclosing the other hand in his free one. He stood there inhaling the scent of Lucius all the while new things were raging through him and they all centered on this man. He felt a raging passion, the deepest desire to closet the man away where no one could possibly touch or harm him and the feeling that this was not a passing fancy or fling. Something told Harry this was for life and for the life of him, he didn’t understand it.
Harry pressed his lips against the neck of the tall blond before moving his nose along the strong jaw and up to those sensuous lips. Harry feathered his across the soft lips and could only groan when two arms wrapped around him, pulling him in closer. The kiss had started out soft and gentle and went rapidly from there to heated and explosive. Harry broke the stillness in the room with a groan that sounded like it was ripped from his soul. He tried to hold the man closer to him, tighter, never wanting to let go. He released his hand, letting it stroke its way up the arm so his fingers could run through the luxuriant blond hair in the hopes of bringing their mouths closer and letting their tongues seek the answers he needed. Harry was past conscious thought as his hips moved against Lucius’ in an answering movement. They managed to align themselves, undulating together in a timeless rhythm.
The two were so in tune with each other, the consuming desires and increasing passions, they failed to hear Severus walk back in the room. Severus stopped and stared at the sight, totally transfixed on what was before him. Severus had seen his share of erotica in his life, but this was something that surpassed his experience. If the younger students had wandered in on this visage, it would have been reduced to cheap and tawdry with the catcalls, whistling and hooting. As it was, he could only stare at the two as if he was presented with a masterpiece to adore. He blinked twice, realized he was staring at an incredibly intimate moment that had been ordained at the beginning of time. The two halves did make a whole and it was radiating a peace from the joining.
Whether it was from jealousy or actual annoyance, Severus scowled at the two men abusing his hospitality. With a throat clearing noise that would have had students quivering in fear for their lives, Severus tried unsuccessfully to get their attention. He tried a loud, discrete cough. It failed also. Drastic measures were called for. He ambled over to the two kissing enigmas in his life. He stepped up to them, wedged his joined hands between and tried to pry them apart. Harry staggered back two steps and regained his ground while Lucius was trying to move back to him also. Severus stepped in the opening, placed a hand on each chest and still tried to move them farther apart, only gaining inches.
Harry looked at Lucius who was straining to get back to him and then to the object impeding their closeness. Harry inhaled deeply, standing straighter, squaring his shoulders as if preparing for a boxing match. The major difference was the fury etched into his face. Severus and Lucius looked at him again, cringing this time. He hadn’t looked this formidable when he had faced down the Dark Lord. “Get your hand off of him or lossse it. Luciusss, come back to me.” Harry was barely able to get that simple command out around his seething and the combining sounds of English and Parsel Tongue. Severus took the command to heart since he now knew what he had to deal with, but he wouldn’t move away. He placed himself between the two, not touching them, just creating an obstacle.
Harry’s anger did not abate. He was past rational thought; the only thing he could focus on was getting to Lucius. To get where he wanted, he had to remove obstacles. Harry grabbed Severus by the front of his robes and lifted him straight up. Severus now looked worried and said quietly “Lucius, move around me, touch him and talk to him. This could get real ugly real fast. Hurry you twit.” Severus had heard and read tales of these things happening and didn’t want to experience it. Before Lucius could reach Harry, Harry growled low in his throat, his fury still showing on his face, emerald eyes darkening to almost black, he swung Severus from between them and proceeded to throw the Potions Master across the room. Severus landed hard, slamming into the bookcase, sliding to the floor only to be buried in a pile of falling books. Harry continued to fume and growl, even as Lucius made it to him and wrapped himself around the younger man.
“Harry, Harry listen to me.” Lucius placed his hand against Harry’s chin and turned him to face him. “Harry, stop. Severus wasn’t hurting either of us. I know you don’t know what’s going on, but trust us. Trust me. We have to check on Severus. Calm down, Harry. You’ll know soon enough. Help me with Severus now.” Lucius held Harry’s hand and started walking backwards to the bookcase. The anger was slowly leaving the young man’s face and rational thoughts were returning. He looked around them and gasped at seeing Severus unconscious and covered with books. He hurried his steps, moving Lucius backwards faster. “Severus, Severus, can you hear me?” He fell to his knees, shifting books off of his friend as fast as possible. Lucius joined in and soon had the man uncovered. Severus groaned and before he could fall over further, Harry had slide to the side of him. “Lucius what did I do?” Panic was clearly taking root in Harry’s voice. Lucius tried to calm him.
“Harry, calm down. Let me get Madame Pomfrey to just check him over. I’m sure it’s nothing worse than what’s happened to him before. I’ll be right back.” Lucius sprinted back across the room and threw in a hand of floo powder. “Madame Pomfrey.” The Medi-witch’s head appeared immediately. “Yes, Mr. Malfoy?” “Madame, would you please bring your bag and come to the Potions Master’s rooms please? There’s been a little accident.” Lucius stood up and back as the Medi-witch stepped through the fireplace. Looking around for the problem, she gasped. “Harry what happened now?” She made her way to the two on the floor. Harry was looking contrite and scared. “I don’t know what happened. All I know is for some reason, I threw Severus across the room. Please help him.” Harry was close to the breaking point, the emotions warring in him and not being able to process them that fast. Madame Pomfrey turned to Lucius, “Help me get him to his room and I can work there.” Lucius cast the spell and moved Severus into his bedroom and settled him on the bed, stepping back to let the medi-witch do her job. Harry stood at the foot of the bed quaking, berating himself. What had he done to his teacher and friend?
Lucius looked at Harry, seeing the conflict. He moved around to the end to stand with the young man. “Easy Harry. He’s going to be fine. It will all make sense soon.” Harry unconsciously moved closer to the older blond, taking a hold on his hand. He stood there waiting for the verdict. For what seemed an eternity, but was only a matter of minutes, they waited. Madame Pomfrey finally looked to them. “Well, I must say I haven’t had to treat to many concussions from books nor the bruised ribs. I’ve healed what I could and will leave the potions for the pain. He will need to rest for a day or two but I’m sure he’ll be back in pure form in a matter of hours. Let him sleep now, he will be safe and it’s the best thing for him. I’ve seen him a lot worse Harry, calm down now. Do you want a calming draught?” Harry tightened his hand on Lucius’ and only shook his head. “Madame Pomfrey, Muggles teach not to let concussion victims sleep. Should he be sleeping? I’m scared for him and myself.” Madame Pomfrey walked to the frightened young man, placing her hand on his shoulder. “Harry, I told you I healed what I could. That’s one of the things we are taught early on. Relax a little. Go sit on the couch and listen for him to wake or put his books back on the shelves. If he’s not up and grumbling in 3 hours call me back. Now go, let him rest.” She herded the two men out of the bedroom and went back to her infirmary.
Harry went to the bookshelves and started picking them up one by one, replacing them on the shelves. Lucius watched until he was frustrated. “Move away Harry.” Harry stopped and stepped back. With a flick and swish, Lucius had the books replaced. “Harry come here.” Lucius walked to the couch and sat down being joined by Harry. Lucius tried to keep some space between them as did. “Lucius, what’s wrong with me? Why did I kiss you like that and then hurt Severus when he tried to move us apart? Why do I feel like there is a magnet pulling me to you and are you sure you aren’t wearing cologne? It’s driving me crazy.” Lucius could only look at the younger man in sympathy.
“Harry, I want to tell you, I really do, but Severus and I agreed years ago that if this day ever came and we were both alive, we would tell you together. So we wait for him, but I can tell you this. I am shocked too, not at your actions, knowing what I know. I’m just surprised and happy that it’s me causing these reactions in you. Stretch out now and rest. I’ll be right here and we’ll all discuss it when he wakes.” Harry moved around on the couch trying to get comfortable. It wasn’t working. “Lucius, what’s wrong with me now?” Lucius sighed, got comfortable and told the young man “Lay your head in my lap, Harry. You’ll sleep soon.” Harry did as he was told and fell asleep as the older man stroked his hair.
