Busy Little Elves

Answer to the Holiday Season Challenges. Combining the two challenges.

Challenge 1: Character “A” makes a wish for someone in particular on the Christmas star which is overheard by Character “B”, who is shocked by the admission. “B” then sets out to make sure that “A’s” wish comes true. (The relationship can be between either “A” & “B”, or “B” could merely be facilitating the relationship.

Challenge 2:The final battle occurs, and Albus Dumbledore expends great amounts of magical energy. He has fallen into a magical sleep, but is expected to make a full recovery. However, he will not awake in time for Christmas. This causes a BIG problem for those who know his secret...because Albus is, in actuality, Father Christmas. “A” and “B” are forced to work together to make Christmas happen. (The plot can involve any number of pairings and characters, but at least one major slashy happy ending!)

Disclaimer: A/N: I own nothing, it all belongs to J.K., except for the challenge, that belongs to the webmasters at TSS. I am making no money from this, I do it for my own pleasure.

Thanks to Tarallynne for the beta work.

Chapter 1

October 31, 1998

Severus watched his mentor fall to the ground as Harry Potter cast the spell to destroy the Dark Lord once and for all. Harry turned as the spell hit Voldemort, and out of the corner of his eye, saw Dumbledore fall. He quickly canceled the spell that allowed him to share the Headmaster’s magic. Severus headed toward the staggering hero, intending to help him back into the Castle. He was joined by several of Harry’s classmates, all bruised and bleeding from their injuries. As they reached him, Harry collapsed. “I’ve killed him,” he sobbed.

Ron and Draco each grabbed an arm and supported Harry’s limp body. Fred and George Weasley rushed over to the Headmaster and picked him up. The group rushed to the Great Hall and placed the two unconscious wizards on cots.

After the injured group had been treated, they gathered around the Headmaster’s bed, waiting to find out if he was going to be okay. They had already seen about Harry, who was going to wake up as soon as he had rested.

Madam Pomfrey walked over to the group. “He has fallen into a magical sleep. Lending his power to Mr. Potter has drained his magical reserves. Mr. Potter is much younger, and is able to recover his reserves much quicker. As soon as the Headmaster’s reserves have recharged, be will be back to normal,” she explained.

Hermione stepped forward, “Madam Pomfrey, how long will it take for him to wake up?” she asked.

The medi-witch put her hand on the young woman’s shoulder. “It will be at least two months. Albus is an exceptionally strong wizard, but his age is why it is going to take so long. He is over 150 years old, so I wouldn’t expect him to wake before January,” she answered.

Ron looked around at the shocked faces. “What about Christmas?” he asked.

“I’m afraid that he will be unable to complete his duties this year.” She patted Hermione’s arm and went back to treating the injured.

They took turns sitting at Harry’s bedside. It was around midnight on November second, Ron and Draco were sitting next to the bed. Draco had his head lying on Ron’s shoulder. “Ron, now that the war is over, what are we going to do?” the blonde asked.

Ron ran his fingers through the blonde locks. “Well, we could get married and start a family,” he answered.

Draco lifted his head and stared into his lover’s eyes. “Do you really mean that?”

Ron kissed the tip of his nose. “Yes, you silly git. Will you marry me?”

Draco threw his arms around Ron and kissed him passionately. “Yes!” he answered.

A groan from the bed had them both leaning forward to check on Harry. “I think he’s waking up, go and get Madam Pomfrey,” Ron said.

Draco jumped up from his seat and ran for the medi-witch. Ron stepped up to the bed and took Harry’s hand. “Harry?”

His body hurt, everywhere. Someone was rubbing his hand and whispering to him. He fought to get his eyes open, groaning he cracked them open to see a halo of red. “Who’s that?” he asked.
Ron chuckled and gently placed his glasses on his nose. “It’s about time you woke up. You’ve missed the first two days of celebrations.”

Harry looked around the room. “What about the Headmaster?” he asked.

Ron smiled and brushed Harry’s fringe back. “He’s sleeping. Madam Pomfrey said that he’ll completely recover.”

Harry sighed in relief. “I thought that I had killed him.”

Ron brushed a kiss across Harry’s forehead. “He’ll be fine, Harry. He won’t wake up till at least the beginning of January. We don’t know what is going to be done about Christmas, but I’m sure that Madam Pomfrey will decide who will take his place this year.”

Harry laughed and then groaned from the pain. “I still can’t believe that she’s been married to him for over sixty years. I always thought that Minerva was his wife, that shows how much we knew.”

Madam Pomfrey rushed into the room with Draco close behind her. When the blonde saw Harry’s green eyes shining with mirth, he rushed over and hugged him.

“Take it easy Draco,” he grunted. “My whole body hurts.”

Draco wiped tears from his eyes. “I’m just happy that you’re okay.”

Madam Pomfrey gently pushed him away from her patient and waved her wand over him, checking to see how he was doing. “Well, Harry. You seem to be okay. I’ll give you a potion for the pain and have a house elf get you some lunch. After that, I can see no reason for you to stay here.”

Harry looked up at the medi-witch. “How is Albus?” he asked.

She smiled at him. “Albus will be fine.” She propped him up on his pillows. “At dinner tonight I will let everyone know who will be taking his place this year. I’ve got it down to two people, I just have to decide which one to assign this monumental task to.”
