to him, as the sounds rushing through his ears, reached his mind without any
recognition. He had subconsciously set his body to some sort of automatic
response behaviour to whoever addressed
him; some kind of defence mechanism, he figured.

as his usual cheerful self, but if anyone had listened slightly closer, they
would have noticed that his normally carefree chuckles had disappeared, replaced

facing the compartment window any other time; he did not have the mind to find
anything to say… and truthf, wa, was there anything that could be
spoken… was there really any word fit to describe his feelings?

chattering for several moments until finally, all the first years walked inside
the Great Hall, each of whom wore anxious, puzzled looks as they followed the
strict looking, stern faced Minerva McGonagall, Deputy Headmistress.

mso-ansi-language:EN-GB'>Harry’s gaze fell on the crowd of eleven year olds,
smiling as he remembered how he had felt in his first year. He had found
acceptance and friendship for the first time of his life in this castle; he
could not possibly begin to imagine a life without it any longer. His gaze
suddenly stopped on a taller head in the crowd… a boy… with dark shoulder
length hair… he looked just as much nervous as the other new first years, but
surely this one was not only eleven years old?

silent as they all gathered down to their respective House’s table. Harry would
have time to question himself about this new student later.

Headmaster exclaimed merrily, his beard just as long and white as ever. He
stood up from the Staff table, his eyes lingering longer than they usually did
as they observed each and every one of the students with fatherly affection.

mso-ansi-language:EN-GB'>The wise man then continued talking, announcing the
usually beginning of year warnings. Harry took it as his chance to search for
the new DADA teacher as he began looking around the staff table for a new face,
but he unfortunately found none… being that an empty seat was the only thing he
did find… an empty seat beside…

himself, the venom nearly rolling off his tongue as pure hatred filled his
every molecule.

mso-ansi-language:EN-GB'>As if having heard his name being spoken, the Potions
Master’s head shot in Harry’s direction, his dark, emotionless eyes narrowing
dangerously.

away coldly, averting his attention back to Dumbledore.

mso-ansi-language:EN-GB'>Somehow, his feeling of hatred did not seem to
diminish by much, for the Headmaster had himself greatly offended him, as well,
the year before. The emerald eyed boy decided to glance towards
emotions. He wanted this year to start with a cheerful tone, not in sorrowful
one.

mso-ansi-language:EN-GB'>The large, dark bearded man’s affectionate gaze seemed
to have the desired effect as their eyes met. The ground’s keeper then winked
at him, as he always did, and a large, goofy grin instantly spread across
Harry’s face.

mso-ansi-language:EN-GB'>The Potter boy nearly fell off his seat when everyone
around him in the Gryffindor table stood up, shouting and clapping cheerfully.

brightly as she sat beside Seamus.

begun and he hadn’t even noticed!

watching as another eleven year old sat down on the stool before the Staff
table, as Professor McGonagall laid the Sorting Hat upon his head.

mso-ansi-language:EN-GB'>“HUFFLEPUFF!” it exclaimed, causing the respective
table to erupt in loud, excited cheering.

mso-ansi-language:EN-GB'>The Sorting lasted several other minutes until
finally, one person was left; that older looking boy Harry had noticed before.
Everyone was now staring at him curiously.

mso-ansi-language:EN-GB'>“This school has always been very open to anyone whom
wished to learn the ways of magic and that is why, I present to you, Zachary
seriously at the students. “Even though he has never attended any
his family for nearly a decade and that is why, I invite you to show him as
much respect as you would to any other of your class mates,” he said
pleasantly, before nodding to McGonagall and sitting down once more.

sit down on the stool and put the Sorting hat on his head.

mso-ansi-language:EN-GB'>Harry was finally able to gaze freely upon the boy’s
face. His skin was immensely pale, yet the youth seemed in perfect health. His
eyes were of a sparkling emerald, his dark shoulder length hair, making them
seem even more so. Even with their similarities, the teen resembled Harry in no
way, unless perhaps, the personality which emanated from him.

the boy, for it took him several minutes to decide which house he should be
sorted in.

the mysterious boy’s head and shouted : “GRYFFINDOR, 5th
YEAR!”

included all stood up, cheering loudly for the new student.

mso-ansi-language:EN-GB'>The boy finally sat down, in the empty seat in front
of Harry, staring down at his feet almost shyly. Everyone on the table fell
silent as he sat down.

the new first years for a few seconds once they sat down, how was this any
different?

mso-ansi-language:EN-GB'>The teen in front of him squirmed discretely and Harry
blinked awkwardly, realizing he had been staring quite rudely at him for a
short while.

low voice. “Didn’t notice I was staring there, was a bit lost in my thoughts…”

mso-ansi-language:EN-GB'>The boy glanced briefly at him before looking back at
his knees, shrugging and smiling weakly, mumbling, “S’ok”
in a somewhat uninterested tone.

mso-ansi-language:EN-GB'> then stood up yet again. Many students (Harry
included) glanced up at the Headmaster expectantly, waiting eagerly for the
food to appear in their plates (Ron was almost drooling now), but
unfortunately, none appeared.

mso-ansi-language:EN-GB'>“As some of you have noticed, as seat has been left
empty at the staff table,” he began. Harry noticed several students crossing
their fingers and hiding them under the table.

greasy incompetent git…

mso-ansi-language:EN-GB'>“After the many events of this previous year, I regret
to announce that Miss Dolores Umbridge will not be
taking the Defence Against the Dark Arts position, for
I’m afraid she still has yet to recover from her regrettable… state…”
Dumbledore shook his head, taking an almost falsely devastated look.

suddenly cheered loudly, standing up from his seat as he held up his empty
golden cup in the air.

of the teachers seemed to have strangely come up with sudden fits of coughing.
Harry couldn’t help but grin even wider than he had ever in the last two
months.

Dumbledore said, bowing his head down slightly to glance at the Irish boy from
above his half moon glasses, but Harry did not miss the weak smile on the elder
man’s lips, nor the discreet wink.

mso-ansi-language:EN-GB'>“Alas, I must announce that a new Professor
will be taking Miss Umbridge’s place.” He turned to
his left, lifting an arm before him, as the door behind the staff table in that
direction opened softly, revealing a feminine figure behind it.

mso-ansi-language:EN-GB'>She was a lithe and well formed woman. She wore
material and a burgundy short skirt over it. Her stringed leather boots were knee-length
and also a dark red colour. The cloak she wore on her shoulders, its hood still
covered her face as her head was slightly bowed, went down to the middle of her
calves.

mso-ansi-language:EN-GB'>She then took a few slow steps towards her seat at the
Staff table, which was beside Snape, and finally
brought her red leather gloved hands to her head and pulled
down her hood.

mso-ansi-language:EN-GB'>A mass of dark purple, lilac and blue, long curly hair
cascaded over her shoulders and she finally looked up at the crowd of students
before her, smiling brightly.

time, recognizing their new teacher instantly.

lively woman interrupted in a very annoyed tone, glaring irritably at
Dumbledore before putting her hands on her hips and letting herself fall on her
chair besides the Potions Master, who was glaring at her in a most disdainful
way.

mso-ansi-language:EN-GB'>“Indeed,” Dumbledore chuckled, amused. “Professor
the Dark Arts teacher as of now.”

instantly sparkle with smiles, which only cause Snape’s
mood to change from bad to foul, but the younger witch seemed completely
undisturbed.

waiting…” he raised both his hands in the air, facing the students, “… let the
feast begin!”
