Chapter 1

AN: I own nothing.
-------------------------------------
The long black haired figure stood in the shadows once again. Watching the two pass the hall. He both loved and loathed the jet-black hair meeting the silver blonde hair.

Why did he love them? Simple. To him, they were perfection. They were what he had always wanted to be. Strong, stronoughough to stand up and face the world. Strong enough to stand up and tell the world what was in their hearts because he himself could not. The only thing stopping them was that they hadn’t recognized it yet.

He loathed them because he could not be one of them. But it wasn’t that simple. He didn’t want to just be with them. He wanted to be part of them.

Oh, how much he wanted to help the two. But he couldn’t, it was not his business to meddle in things like this. He had no business thinking he could come in on them and mess everything up. Well, not really mess up, more like clear up.

The only reason he even gave the raven-haired boy detention was so he could see him more. He always caught gses ses of the silver blonde but the raven-haired was not as notorious. He wasn’t so lucky as to be able to see that beautiful hair as well as the blone.

He stood there, waiting for the perfect moment. Finally it came, “Potter! What do you think your doing?”

“Malfoy pulled out his wand first!” protested the owner of the beautiful body of raven hair.

“I saw none of it. Detention for a week Potter. Seven sharp and I don’t care if it messes up with your QUIDDITCH practices either Griffindor captain.”

The raven hair glared at his most unfair professor, if only he knew how different the long black silky hair felt for him.

As the tall man in black robes turned to walk away he could hear the snickers of the Golden Boy of the Slytherin house and he couldn’t help but smile himself. He was happy that he had satisfied the silver blonde head.

*~*

“That was bloody unfair of him.” Shouted Ron

Harry didn’t say anything, just looked at the floor. It was just before dinner. Right after dinner he was to be on his way to those dark coal eyes.

“Ron, Harry shouldn’t have pulled out his wand. I warned him but he refused to listen to me.” Said Hermione

“But no Quidditch practice, our game is coming up soon, and it’s against Slytherin! The first game of the year Harry, the first game!”

“Shut up Ron! Don’t you think I know that!”

Ron didn’t say anything. He knew when he was being too hysterical where it annoyed Harry to no end.

Harry went up to his room to fetch some of his things, he had a pile of homework to do and with detention, and he wouldn’t have any time but now to do it.

Harry entered his room and rummaged through his things.

“Hey Harry, I think that owl’s for you.” Said Ron behind him; he didn’t know Ron had followed him up.

Harry shot his head up and looked at the window. There it was, an owl peering at him and tapping the glass impatiently, how had he not heard the owl earlier?

Harry quickly ran to the window and opened it allowing the owl to drop the letter in his hand and fly away.

Harry opened the letter addressed to him.

“Open your eyes and you will see,
Behind the hold of the enemy.
Look into the soul not just the skin,
There to your surprise you will find something within.
Look, peer and understand,
I know what you think but that’s not where you stand.
You think you know what is going on,
But everything you thought was absolutely wrong.
You look in those eyes and you think you see hatred,
You must look beyond those sneering faces.
When that is done, you will find,
A desperation that is just of your kind.”

“Harry mate, what is it?” Asked Ron approaching.

“Nothing.” Said Harry putting away the note and walking quickly out of the door. “I can’t do my work, I need to go for a walk. See you at dinner Ron.” And the Griffindor Golden Boy left the dorm room.

Harry practically ran out of the common room, avoiding anyone who came his way. He knew what the letter meant when he read ‘the enemy’, ‘sneering faces’ and ‘desperation that is just like your kind’. But who sent this? Certainly his beautiful gray eyeuldnuldn’t have.

Harry swept out of the school and made his way to the back of the lake still clutching onto the letter he had received, perhaps he could now get a chance to figure things out.

He settled himself just under the growing shadows and leaned against a tree, he had just a little under an hour to figure things out before dinner, then, detention.

*~*

Draco grinned stepping into the Slytherin common room. He should feel as his face showed but he didn’t. There was something else he was feeling but he didn’t know what it was.

Draco sat on a couch in front of the fire and Blaise came trotting by the blonde.

“Draco, I think you got an owl.”

Draco looked up, “From who?”

Blaise shrugged and handed Draco the unopened envelope.

Draco opened it and read to himself:

“You have been taught this way yourire ire life,
To hold and always forever carry strife.
You need to be strong and to always stand tall,
I have faith in you for never in my eyes have I seen you fall.
You are a golden mass of pure good light,
I know you will make sure everything goes right.
Hold on to what you’ve learned but learn something from that,
That you know what’s really right and that you won’t step back.
Don’t let go of the emerald green,
For I know what’s in your heart and I’ve seen what you’ve seen.
Keep up the faith and never give up,
For when things are in your heart no one can disrupt.”

Draco held the letter, who wrote this? Who had seen him watch the raven hair? But he found no answer.

“Draco, you alright? What was that all about?” Asked Blaise

“Nothing, I’m leaving. See you at dinner Blaise.” And the blonde ran out of the common room.

Draco fled the common room so fast you couldn’t say ‘love letter’ to his speed.

He didn’t stop; he just kept going, running up the stairs finally reaching the main floor. He paused for a moment to decide where he would go. //Take right// something in his head told him and he obeyed. He went outside into the courtyard and made his way to the shadowy blanket under the treehindhind the lake.
