Chapter 1: Sadness

She hadn’t seen him in so long. They had sent him away, far away from her. Bad influence on the family and on hery hay had told her. They wouldn’t let her even write to him not one letter. They even forbid her caretaker, a friend of the families, to make sure she stayed there over summer holidays from now on leading her to believe that he came home on summer brake from where ever he was.

Hope dawned on her two night prior to her getaway. He was home right now in that little house on privet drive with their aunt and uncle. Home were she could see him, talk to him. It had been 5 years since this strange fate they had been subjected to had been put into play. Five long years of sadness. How could your own relatives keep two siblings apart, why would they.

Not seeing her brother for 5 years was hurtful and she knew that somehow he was trying to get a hold of her but knew full well her uncle and aunt were stopping eve every idea just like her caretaker was doing to her.

An elaborate plan she put into play that night. A fully thought out plan. After saving up money for school books and buss fair for months she decided that her brother took priority. She took that money and her plan and left her home to make her journey to London. It would be a long journey but it would be worth it in the end.

The only thing she could hope is that when her caretaker alerted her relatives, the Dursleys, that they would not send her brother harry away before she managed to see him first.

Harry sat in number five Privet Drive thinking on what he could do. His aunt and uncle were watching tv, Dudley was most likely beating up kinds smaller then him and his summer home work and study was done already, with a little help from Hermione’s letters.

He wasn’t due to go to Rons house for another two days and he knew that he had to be extra careful around his aunt and uncle least they not let him go on account of bad behavior. The phone rang jolting Harry from his thoughts.

His uncle answered and turned to glare at Harry. “Its for you boy.” He said handing over the phone.

Harry took the phone and smiled slightly as his uncle walked away. “His Hermione.” He said before listening to the voice.

“How’d you know it was me?” She said from the other end.

“Its always you, Ron doesn’t call anymore, not after last time.”

“His first and last time you mean.” Hermione corrected him. “Ron just don’t wanna get you in trouble again. He’s afraid you wont make it to his house it he do.”

“I know. So what’s up you never call unless you have news of something.”

“Oh yeah well seems school is starting earlier this year. I think Dumbledore wants all students in the safety of Hogwart. Something must have happened but we have no real information yet. Sorry Harry but I thought I’d phone just to, you know, warn you. I mean its odd for Dumbledore to assemble the student so early I mean school is not for another month. Something is going on and it scares me.” Hermione voice was shaking slightly.

“I understand thanks Hermione.” He said sighing.

“No problem. So with that aside for now how has it been for you at home? Treating you well I hope.”

“Well as good as expected from my aunt and uncle.”

“How about you bully of a cousin?”

“Oh he’s to scared to come near me. Told ‘em that when I turn sixteen I was able to do magic anytime I wanted and he ran with his tail between his legs.” Hermione laughed.

“Harry its not nice to lie like that.” Hermione said getting serious. “What if he had told his parents?”

“At the time I was angry and didn’t care but he never told them or at least not that I know of.”

“Well that’s good to hear. But anyway Harry I better go. See youRonsRons?”

“Sure thing.” Harry said before hanging up the phone.

“Hope your not up to anything funny boy.” His uncle said just as he hung up.

Instead of answering him Harry went upstairs to his room to polish his broom for the 3rd time that day.

“Hey boy we’re going out to a real important event you better behave yourself in this house when we’re not here.” Vernon reminded him again. Harry didn’t answer. He waited and listened for the door to close and the car to leave.

Ms. Vandershmit, glared at the phone. She had tried to call the Dursleys to tell them that bad news but three times she tried and the phone was busy. Probably Petunia gossiping again. She waited and picked up the phone one more time and dialed.

Harry was lying on his bed in thought once more when the phone startled him. Hoping it might be Hermione with more information he ran downstairs and grabbed the phone from its place on the wall.

“Hello?” He said.

“Hello, Dudley?” She said before continuing, “This is Ms. Vandershmit calling is your mother or father there?” Harry swallowed his original reply of he wasn’t Dudley and took a deep breath. The only reason she ever phoned was to tell his Uncle bad things about his sister.

“They’re gone on a weekend vacation.” He lied.

“Really without you?” She sounded surprised.

“Well what with school and boxing I said I wanted to stay here and practice for my next match.”

“What dedication. Anyway is that boy there?” She said harshly.

“No, he was sent to his weirdo friends house seems his school starts up earlier this year or something.”

“I see no worries then. Don’t need to tell you parent I called then. I see everything will be fine.” She said with what sounded like a sound of relief.

“Will do Ms. Vandershmit.” Harry said before hanging up the phone. There now lets see you tell on Julia. Wonder what she supposedly done this time? Harry thought to himself. How he wished he could talk to her but if he had asked for her she would knew who he was right away. His being separated from her ever since he started Hogwarts was hard but once heame ame a strong wizard and the treat of Voldemort was gone he would go find her and take her with him far away with his friends.

He wished she could be with him at Hogwartt not no one even knows she was alive. She died in the hospital two days after his parents died but the doctors in that muggle hospital revived her but not before word spread in the wizarding world. She was released four months later to the Dursleys.

‘Bet Dumbledore knows the truth.’ A little voice in Harry mind said. “But if he knew why would he not have sent her a Hogwarts letter when she turned 11 one year before him?” That was the question he had asked himself from day one. Why didn’t Julia ever get a letter.

Early Thursday morning, Uncle Vernon left for work. Soon after Aunt Petunia left for early morning coffee with Mrs. Finchley, Dudley accompanied her. Harry was left alone again. He didn’t mind though it was good to have no annoying relatives around watching his every move.

Today was a special day. Today Ron’s and his father would be picking him up to go to their house and get ready to go back to Hogwarts. He had stayed up most of the night making sure he hadn’t forgotten anything. He left his old schoolbooks that were no longer needed under his bed and also left his quidditch throughout the ages book as he had already read it three times over and knew that he had to pay close attention to his studies more this year the to being a seeker not too mention Voldemort has put a real damper on things at school. All trips to Hogsmeade had been cancelled the year before and would most likely be cancelled this year as well.

Harry didn’t dear use his clock to go to hogsmeade. After Voldemorts last attempt on his lift he decided to follow the rules no matter how much he craved Butterbeer. Harry sighed and lay on his bed going over his lists of things to bring to make sure he got it all. The last thing he needed was to leave something critical home were he wouldn’t be able to get it till the end of school year. Harry slowly drifted into sleep as Hedwig pecked at her food.

Now was her chance. Julia had been hiding in the hedge outside number 4 Privet Drive since 7:00am that day. She had left the inn early to make sure she saw everyone leave before daring to go up the house. So far there had been no sign of Harry at all which made her frown. Surely Ms. Vandershmit had phone in advance but still she hoped that someway somehow Harry was there.

There was only one way to find out. She left her hiding place and walked up to the door. Taking a deep breath she knocked. No answer. She knocked again a little harder this time. Still no answer.

Standing on tip toe she looked into the front window but saw no sign of life in the building. Julia then walked around the back checking all window along the way in hopes one might be open even a crack but she had no such luck. And as expected the back door was also locked.

Feeling like she wanted to cry in frustration she began her walk back to the inn. It was time for plan two.

Harry woke to the door closing. Aunt Petunia was home. He trudged downstairs and noticed Dudley was not with her. Probably off beating up some little k Pet Petunia looked up at him and walked to the kitchen. It wouldn’t be long now and the Weasleys would be there to get him. He walked into the living room and turned on the TV. He flipped through the channels several times before Petunia came in and shooed him off the couch and began to cover things in their plastics coverings.

Ron and his father were arri by by floo power meaning that they would once again blow the wall open but with a twist of Mr. Weasleys wand it would be all back to normal but his aunt was not convinced of that and complained about left over dust last time. Harry had rolled his eyes. She never had anything good to say about anything having to do with magic.

“It’ll be time soon. They better be on time. I have guests coming later I don’t need you around when they arrive.” Petunia said harshly.

“Yes aunt Petuni Har Harry replied helping cover things.

Harry was just finishing covering the TV when someone knocked at the front dor. Aunt Petunia jumped.

“Not a word.” She warned him going to get the door so she could shoo away whoever was on the other side.

“Where’s Harry.” A voice said sternly.

“What are you doing here.” Aunt Petunia said in half shock half anger.

“I came to see Harry. Were is he.” Julia replied pushing past aunt petunia to catch sight of harry in the living room. She made a run for him when suddenly the wall came crashing down. Bits of wall flew everywhere and Julia fell backwards in shock knocking Aunt Petunia who was right behind her.

“Harry!” Julia cried getting to her feet. “Harry are you alright.” She said noticing Harry standing right were she had seen him before. He walked forward and helped her up and then Aunt Petunia who glared at him.

Julia scream and grabbed a lamp from sideside table she through it at Mr. Weasley who was just walking out of the broken wall. It hit him square in the head. “Julia no.” Harry said grabbing the plant she was about to pick up.

“Har Are Are they not braking in?” She said confused.

“No.” Harry sighed what was he suppose to say. He wanted so long to see her and now that she was here he dreaded what might happen to her if she got involved with Hogwarts. He didn’t want Voldemort to hurt her, he had wondered what he would do if such a thing were to happen. He never thought it really would. “Mr. Weasley, can you give me a minute.”

“Blimey Harry. I never knew you had another cousin living here.” Ron said as he shook dust from his hair.

“I’ll explain later Ron.” Harry looked not at Ron but at his father who was examining the inside of the lamp were the cord attached. He looked up at Harry and he could see that he knew full well who she was. He gave him a half smile.

“No problem. Take your time.” Mr. Weasley said. Harry took Julia upstairs. Explaining things was not as hard as he thought. Until Julia laughed.

“Your funny Harry.” She said. Shaking his head Harry opened his trunk and pulled out the album the Sirius had given him and passed it to her.

Julia opened it and it took a moment but she looked up her eyes watery. “I don’t remember them really.” She saouchouching the picture. “Your not lying are you?” She said closing th

“No. I’m not.” He replied sitting down beside her.

“That’s why the contact between us was broken when I was 12 and you 11. You had gone to Hogwarts and they were trying to keep me from knowing. Harry nodded. “I understand everything now. She paused and as harry feared Julia next words were just as he thought they’d be. “Take me with you.” She said looking up with a smile. “I want to know magic as well.”

“Julia there are things you still don’t know.” He said after leaving out most everything involving Voldemort.

“Like what.”

“You can’t go.” He said getting up and leaving the room. He hauled his trunk behind him.

“What! Why? Harry don’t you walk away from me not like that. Harry.” She chased him over the stairs. He dug into his trunk again.

“You’ll only be in the way. Your better never being known in my world.” He said regretfully. He paused her another book. Read this. You’ll come to understand one day. Go back home Julia. Have a good life.” Harry turned and walked into the wall were Ron and his father were waiting. He took a handful of dust.

“HARRY!” Julia cried trying to run to him but was grabbed by her aunt and held back. “NO HARRY STOP. COME BACK. HARRY! HARRY!” He was gone. Petunia let her go. Julia hit the floor and cried as her aunt made an angry phone call to Ms. Vandershmit.
