Love Songs by Taran

Peeves was in a hurry. He had just seen the most amazing thing and couldn\'t wait to tell his favourite professor all about it! As he whistled through the halls, he let out a loud shriek. The students dived out of his way, covering their ears as they did so. He ran his ghostly fingers through the walls, leaving trails of ectoplasm.

As he swooped to follow the stairs down to the dungeon, he flew over Harry Potter\'s bent head as the young man was making his way up the stairs. When he looked up, Peeves noticed Harry was blushing bright pink and seemed out of breath. Peeves paused long enough to give the student a knowing smile and wink, then continued on his way.

As he neared Snape\'s office door he gave an extra burst of speed and went straight in.

\"Sevvie,\" he called out. \"Oh, Sevvie...? You\'ll never guess what I just saw!\" The ghost started laughing as he taunted the man sitting at his desk looking flushed.

\"Get out, Peeves!\" Severus Snape yelled. He was most definitely not in the mood for the pranking poltergeist. He was tired and still had work to do before he could turn in. Harry... err... Mr Potter\'s detention had run longer than he had planned.

\"Come now, Sevvie! You\'ll want to hear about this!\" Peeves continued to tease. This bit of gossip was far too juicy to let slide. He couldn\'t resist its sheer novelty. This was not something he was likely to find again and wasn\'t about to give up the opportunity to use it against the intimidating man.

\"Peeves, if you don\'t get out this instant, I shall brew an Undead Potion that will make it possible for me to capture you and drop you into a very smile vial and hand you over to the Bloody Barron!\" Snape was fast losing what little patience he had.

Peeves floated over Snape, ignoring the threat. \"Really, Sevvie, I just saw the most amazing thing. That Black dog had what appeared to be an old newspaper he was looking at in his rooms. There was an article. An article... about YOU of all things...\" He squealed with laughter.

Snape stood up so fast, his chair fell over. His face was white as snow. \"What article?\" he asked, his voice barely above a hoarse whisper.

Peeves knew he had Snape on the hook now. \"Oh, its nothing really... Nothing at all that would interest you. My mistake.\" He fluttered over to the door, pausing to look back at Snape. This was going to be more fun than he\'d first thought.

\"Come to think of it,\" Peeves looked thoughtful for a moment, \"it might interest that new young lover of yours.\" He watched as Snape paled further. \"I\'m sure you\'ve never told Potty about your singing days!\" Raucous laughter followed the ghost through the closed door and down the hall.

\"PEEVES!!\" Snape yelled as loud as he could as he yanked open the door and dashed after the fleeting poltergeist. He ran through the dungeons and up the stairs, just managing to catch a glimpse Peeves up several flights of stairs towards the chambers Sirius Black shared with Remus Lupin. He was grateful for a moment that the ghost wasn\'t headed for the Gryffindor common room until he realized that Harry was most likely with his godfather.

Snape was too aggravated by the ghost to stop and knock politely when he reached the door to Black\'s rooms. He turned the knob easily and marched into the large living room. He stopped short as he nearly walked directly into Harry Potter.

Harry turned around, startled. \"Se.. Sssnape!\" he recovered quickly. Harry still hadn\'t told his godfather that he was seeing his arch nemesis and had been for over a month now. He was as shocked by his Potions Professor\'s appearance as he was by the ghost, Peeves. \"What are you doing here?\"

Snape ignored Harry and looked around the room. Black was eying him dubiously while talking to Peeves on the far side of the room. Peeves was pointing at what appeared to be an old scrapbook laying on a coffee table near them. Snape strode purposefully toward the little table but before he could reach the book, Black swept it up into his arms.

\"What the hell do you want, Snape?\" Black asked darkly.

\"Give me the book, Black.\" Snape\'s tone was deathly cold and his glare was worse. He held his hand out, cringing internally at how much it was shaking.

Black raised an eyebrow questioningly. \"What the hell do you want with my old scrapbook?\"

\"Ooh,\" Peeves cooed, \"Sevvie doesn\'t want someone to see....\"

\"To see what?\" Harry asked as he approached the other men.

\"Nothing,\" Snape said sharply.

\"Snape, what are you so worried about anyone seeing in my scrapbook?\" Black asked, confused. \"It\'s just a bunch of old pictures and clippings for the old school paper.\"

\"School paper?\" Harry was mingming very curious about what could have Severus Snape so anxious.

Snape\'s eyes went wide as he continued to glare at Black, unwilling to make eye contact with Harry. \"Just give me the damn book, Black,\" he said menacingly.

\"It\'s the school paper he doesn\'t want seen...\" Peeves offered, inching further away from the irate Potions master. He was unsuccessfully attempting to muffle his snickering.

\"The school paper...?\" Black was thoughtful a moment. He pulled away as Snape tried to snatch the book out of his hands.

\"Black, give me the damned book! NOW!\" Snape was about to draw his wand when he remembered it had fallen under his desk when Harry was removing his robe. He hadn\'t had a chance to pick it up after re-dressing before Peeves had swept into his office.

Realization dawned as memories flooded into Black\'s mind. There were many different articles he had written so many years ago for the underground school newspaper he and his fellow Marauders had created. It had only run for one year, their sixth, before Dumbledore had shut it down. After a rather unflattering story on Professor McGonagall, the headmaster had declared the rag an \"unfit extracurricular activity\".

Black sighed happily as he recalled that particular article. It had been one of his best, next to the one about Snape sing... That was it! That was the article Snape was worried about someone seeing.

\"Oh! I know what you\'re worried about,\" he said laughing. \"It\'s the one about YOU! You\'re scared someone\'s going to out out about your enigmatic past!\"

\"Black, I swear...\" He trailed off, letting Black\'s imagination finish the threat.

\"What past?\" Harry asked suspiciously. He ignored Snape\'s low growl as he reached for the scrapbook. Black twisted away, clutching the book tighter to his chest.

\"Give it here, Siri!\" Harry snapped at his godfather. He was more than a little curious now about his lover\'s past.

\"No way, Harry! This is blackmail material and I want every knut and sickle its worth,\" he laughed.

\"BLACK!\" Snape hollered, but Sirius Black had already moved out of reach of both men, still laughing.

Harry glared at both men then turned his back and picked up his book bag from beside the couch. Unseen by the arguing pair, Harry pulled his ever present invisibility cloak out and pulled it over his head. He walked silently up to his godfather and yanked the book out his clutching hands.

\"Hey!\" Black yelled.

\"Harry, Mr Potter,\" Snape corrected himself quickly, \"give me that book at once!\"

Feeling secure under the cloak, Harry laughed. He was careful to stay hidden under the spacious fabric and began flipping quickly through the book. He circled quietly around the room, keeping a close eye on Black and Snape. While Snape was always rather pale in complexion, he was much whiter than usual right now, which worried Harry. He hoped the man would forgive his curiosity but he just had to see what the article was about.

Harry laughed at many of the pictures and the colourful headlines of some of the articles as he paged through the large book. He suddenly stopped in his tracks and gasped. There in full colour was a picture of Severus Snape. He looked to be about 15 or 16 years old at the time, his hair shorter, his body just as slim. It was unmistakably Snape! What was so shocking to Harry was that Snape was standing on what looked like a small stage with a microphone in his hands. As the picture moved, it was clear that the man was singing.

Harry looked at Snape as he groaned, his head lowering to his chest. Harry was sure the man was blushing. He flipped to the article accompanying the picture. He grazed his shocked eyes over it briefly, then began to read aloud.

\"SENSUAL SEVERUS SNAPE, SLYTHERIN SEX GOD, WOWS HOGWARTS STUDENTS!\"

He heard Snape groan again and Black started laughing with Peeves. Snape sunk down into a plush chair and buried his head in his hands. Harry continueadieading.

\"Older students from Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry were given a rare treat at last nights \"Sing Song Friday Night\" at the Hog\'s Head tavern. Severus Snape, a 16 year old sixth year Slytherin, took to the stage amid cat calls, boos, and cheers. Slytherin students, who had given him the nickname of Sensual Severus, cheered him on, while the rest of the crowd looked on skeptically.\"

\"Sensual Severus?\" Harry asked with amusement. Snape gave a deadly glare in the general direction Harry\'s disembodied voice had come from. Harry giggled quietly as he turned back to the article.

Choosing \'The Rose\' as his first selection, skepticism soon turned to captivation. Starting out soft and low, his voice slowly rose to a powerful crescendo. He soon had the crowd eating out of the palm of his hand.\"

\"The Rose? Isn\'t that a little sappy for you, Severus?\" Harry teased, moving around the room again as Snape rose from his chair.

\"At the end of the performance there wasn\'t a sound made. Even the Gryffindors were shocked into silence. As Sensual Severus took his bow, the audience erupted into roaring cheers. He had clearly become a crowd favourite.\"

\"Mmmm... Sensual Severus... I really like the sound of that...\" Harry was oblivious to the appalled look he was now receiving from his godfather.

\"Other students took their turns on the stage, many drunk and stumbling over their songs. A few were worth listening to, but none had the power of Severus Snape, the man dubbed \'The Slytherin Sex God\' for reasons as yet unknown to this reporter.\"

\"Oh my God! Did they really call you the \'Slytherin Sex God\'?!\" Harry was astounded by the article. It didn\'t sound anything like the man he had come to know and love.

He glanced up at Snape and was almost sorry he had read the story. Snape looked incensed and more than a little ill. Whatever colour had been left in his face was now completely washed out.

\"Well,\" Snape said, his voice wavering, \"now that you\'ve all had a good laugh, I\'ll be on my way. Thank you, Peeves. Goodnight, gentlemen.\"

\"Sev, wait!\" Harry yelled as he pulled the invisibility cloak off.

\"Hold on, Snape,\" Black called out, giving Harry an incredulous look at his use of a nickname to one of his teachers. He was beginning to strongly suspect something was going on between the teacher and student.

Snape ignored them both as he reached for the door handle. All he wanted was to get back to his dungeons and hide away from the humility he was now facing. He had the door open before Harry reached his side and grabbed his arm tightly.

\"Let me go, Mr Potter,\" he said savagely, his eyes blazing in anger.

Harry wasn\'t about to back down. He knew Snape was angry but if he just let the man stew, he\'d never get over it. Suddenly, Harry saw beyond the anger in Snape\'s eyes to the hurt and humiliation. He didn\'t know what to say so he smiled gently and leaned in to brush a kiss over the tense lips.

\"Don\'t, Harry!\" Snape turned away before their lips could meet. He pulled his arm free and fled quickly but gracefully down the hall, leaving Harry standing stunned in the doorway of Black\'s chambers.

Harry, closing his eyes and leaning back against the door frame, sighed heavily. He had really messed up without meaning to. He should have known better. He felt a cool breeze blow past him and opened his eyes to see Peeves floating along, following the same path Snape had just disappeared down. Feeling a hand upon his shoulder, Harry turned to see Sirius Black watching him sadly.

\"I\'m sorry, Harry. I hadn\'t realized the old greasy git meant so much to you.\"

Harry sighed again. \"He\'s not an \"old greasy git\", Siri. You just don\'t know him.\" Harry started to leave but was stopped by the hand. Black turned Harry towards him and looked him in the eyes.

\"If you care so much about him, don\'t let him go, Harry. He\'s damned stubborn, but so are you.\" Black smiled and pulled Harry into a tight hug. \"Go to him, Harry. Don\'t let it sit like this.\"

Harry returned the smile, then, as he started towards the dungeons, he stopped.

\"The article was written by Seriously Black for the Hogwarts\' Marauder Express. That was you, wasn\'t it?\"

\"Yes,\" Black laughed, \"that was me.\"

\"Was Sev... Was he any good?\"

\"Merlin, Harry! You of all people should know by now that Severus Snape has the voice of an angel!\"ack ack grinned widely. \"He couldn\'t have chosen a better song, either. He was incredible!\"

****

Harry smiled all the way to the dungeons and into Severus\' rooms. He didn\'t bother to knock, knowing the outraged man would only growl and tell him to leave. Severus had given Harry his password to the dungeon just the day before and Harry knew he wouldn\'t have changed it yet.

Entering the spacious chambers, Harry expected to find Severus pacing angrily about the room as Harry had seen him do before. He was surprised to find the room empty. There was no answer when he called out Severus\' name. Harry was a little worried that the man hadn\'t come down to the dungeons at all but had instead gone elsewhere to vent his frustrations.

He entered the bedroom, looking around, and saw a light from under the bathroom door, then heard the unmistakable sound of running water. Severus was having a shower. Harry beamed as he started to undress. He was going to talk to the man, even if it was in the shower with him.

Harry quietly opened the bathroom door and was immediately engulfed in a cloud of steam. He stepped lightly up to the shower stall and eased the door open. Severus was leaning on his arms against the front of the stall, head bent down, letting the water cascade down his back, which was facing Harry. Harry reached out his fingertips and lightly dragged them down Severus\' tense back.

Severus whirled around with a yelp. If not for the reflex of a top-notch Quidditch player, Harry would have been knocked onto his arse. As it was, he was able to easily duck under Severus\' flailing arms, tucking himself in next to the man\'s chest. He wrapped his arms around Severus\' waist.

\"Bloody hell, Potter! You nearly scared me to death!\" Severus yelled as he tried vainly to push Harry away.

\"Sorry.\" Harry said, sounding contrite. \"I\'m very sorry about everything tonight. I honestly didn\'t mean to hurt or embarrass you. Please forgive me.\"

Severus closed his eyes and leaned back into the hot spray. He was desperately tired now and he certainly didn\'t have the energy to fight with the young man. He wanted to forget the whole awful night completely. It was amusing to chase Peeves off when the ghost had tried to apologize but he couldn\'t do that with Harry. Harry wasn\'t so easily frightened.

\"Harry, I..\" His words were swallowed by a soft mouth closing over his. He could feel the weight of the slim body press against his and the need of his young lover growing against his thigh. Even through the steam he could faintly smell Harry\'s unique aroma. He groaned into the sweet mouth, pulling Harry closer still.

Harry broke the kiss and leaned back to look Severus in the eye. He watched as the last bit of anger drifted away, replaced with love and lust. Harry smiled happily, his hands tracing over heated wet skin. He kissed Severus again as he began to gently pull him from the shower, turning the water off.

Harry dried them quickly then led Severus to the bedroom and laid him on the large bed. He crawled up from the foot of the bed and over Severus, kissing and nipping all the way from toe to forehead. Reaching Severus\' face, Harry straddled his chest and started a slow sensual kiss that lasted several minutes.

When he finally came up for air, Harry whispered seductively into Severus\' ear.

\"I bet you sound like an angel when you sing. Will you sing for me, Sev? Just for me?\"

As they slowly, passionately made love, Severus, ever so softly, began to sing. Harry was awed by the power of Severus\' deep baritone voice. Severus stopped singing as he approached orgasm and Harry watched the deep obsidian orbs closely, trying to time it perfectly. With his own climax cresting, Harry took Severus\' hard member in his hand and pumped roughly, bringing them over the edge of bliss together.

As he lay on his back, Severus cradled against his chest, Harry let his mind drift towards sleep. Somewhere between dreams and reality, Harry heard Severus\' voice rise again, lulling him deeper into love.
