The Line...Crossed

Chapter One

Harry and his two friends were about to enter their 6th year at Hogwarts. Harry hoped that this term they would have a Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher that didn\'t want to hurt him, he still had the scars from Professor Umbridge. Ron had written to Harry that him and Hermione had gotten together and even though he was happy for them he wondered how stable Ron\'s mind was since the whole Brain room incident at the Ministry of Magic.

Since that time when Fudge had seen Voldemort Harry had to go before the Department of Magical Law and tell them what had happened when Voldemort had rose back to physical form. He told them that Voldemort had promised a return to their old ways and promised loads of victims for their sick pleasure. The Ministry was convensed and the Deatheaters that were caught in Dumbledore\'s Anti-Desaperation Charm went off to Azkaban. Harry returned to Sirius Black house which he had inharited upon his godfather\'s death. He met up with the Weasley who had somehow managed to get Mrs. Black\'s painting off the wall and it was now gone.

When Harry saw Hermione he saw a girl that had lost her zest in life. She wore long sleeve shirts and didn\'t smile at Harry like she use to. He asked Mrs. Weasley about it and she told him that Ron had said that she was just having some bad days. Harry had been around abuse all his life and he knew the signs. Ron was being controlling and he needed Remus help to save her from him.
\" Are you sure?\" Remus asked.
\" Positive,\" Harry replied. \" I mean you don\'t see her laugh anymore and she scared to be near him.\"

Remus was up for it and so they devised a plan with the help of Moody and Tonks to get Ron out of the house so that Harry could find proof that Hermione was being abused. Sure enough it worked and Ron said goodbye to his family as Moody took him to the Ministry of Magic to talk to a group of Aurors. Their O.W.L results hadn\'t come in and he was greatful for that. He walked up the stairs and opened the door.
\" Come in Ron,\" Hermione said. Harry opened the door to find her on the bed dressed in something that he knew that she would never of worn. She almost screamed when she saw that it wasn\'t Ron. \" Um Harry sorry I thought you were someone else.\" She went to cover herself, but not before he had seen the proof of what he liked to call \" Ron\'s handywork.\"
\" Hermione what\'s going on?\" Harry asked. Hermione shuffled her things around and didn\'t answer him. \" Hermione this is not you.\"
\" How do you know this 't m't me.\"
\" Well for one have you finished your work?\" He asked.
\" No, but I have time.\"
\" School is in two weeks and you normally have your work done by this time. What has Ron being doing.\"

Hermione didn\'t say anything, but Harry had an idea. He was abusing her and from how she was dressed and thought that he was Ron, that Ron was expecting a round of sex. Hermione was his friend and not someone that you used. Harry sat down on the bed and Hermione scooted away.
\" Look Hermione has Ron hurt you physically?\" He asked. Hermione shook her head. \" Hermione that is a lie I\'ve seen the bruises, and I don\'t like that at all. Why don\'t you tell him where to go and go to Dumbledore. He\'ll help you.\"
\" Oh ya and get Ron to use one of the Unforgivables on me.\" She snapped. She at once glasped her hand and then started to hit herself. It reminded Harry of Dobby and when he had been disloyal to the Malfoy\'s.

\" Hermione stop this,\" he told her, grabbing her hands to keep her from hitting herself. \" Stop this right how. I\'m not going to have you hurt yourself.\"
\" Then stay away from what Ron likes to call \" His,\" she told him. \" Please don\'t try and help me.\"
\" I\'m not going to stay away and you can\'t make me. I\'ll take this to the Ministry, I don\'t care. I\'m not going to let you get hurt by him.\" Hermione started to cry and then before Harry knew what he was doing he kissed her. It was a gentle kiss and suddenly it was filled with passion. He wanted to protect her and that fueled his desire for her. He ravished her mouth and she moaned. He removed his mouth and kissed her throat in a gentle gesture. She gasped and he started to move slowly. He wanted to show her that this could be gentle and not rough.

Suddenly the downstairs door opened and Moody\'s voice sounded. Harry broke away and kissed her gentlely on the lips.
\" I will always be here for you.\" He told her. He got up and closed the door behind her. Hermione wanted to cry, she had just responded to her best friend. And had liked it, what would she do if Ron knew that she was falling for her best friend.
