Severus Snape was sitting in his cozy dungeon cottage that he\'d had rebuilt to look much like his potions dungeon only with a bit more air and light. Since retiring from Hogwart\'s he had chosen to keep a low profile in the United States... moving to a quiet suburb.
This littlel suburb was a quiet place to be, very religious, very suspicious and class conscious However, it wasn\'t a malevolent place to be so as long as he stayed out of their way, and they stayed out of his way.
He found several acres of woods and settled in there in his little cottage. Burglars weren\'t tempted because the old man didn\'t really have much to offer, and even if they did... the Snape wizardry security system was more than up to the task of keeping the undesirables out.
Snape sipped his tea and stared out the window, watching schoolchildren getting on their busses for another day at school. The thought of schools made him melancholy. Who would be taking over his classes at Hogwarts? Would they impart the subtle art that is potion making properly? Would the school burn down?
But these were no longer his concerns. He was retired. He did his own little magics here and there, but for the most part he was a free man.
After the bus passed, out of Snape\'s window, he saw a fairly attractive man pull up in some American brand of vehicle that obviously went out of its way to appear unmarked. Snape was shocked that the man was heading for his home. He had been very quiet, stayed completely under the radar and yet... look..... here\'s the official-looking man.
Snape snapped open the door after hustling around the corridor before the man even had a chance to knock.
\"Hello Mr... Snape? I am Special Agent Mulder of the FBI and I have a few questions for you.\"
-----
Snape was floored. What would the FBI want with him? What would have led the FBI to him? Even if he had been brewing potions, there was hardly a Federal statue that could\'ve been broken with that. Sure, the Ministry of Magic would be upset... but the FBI?
Agent Mulder presented Snape with his wallet and badge. \"What is this about?\" demanded Snape.
\"There have been reports of occult activity in this area and I\'m questioning people in the surrounding areas... particularly people living in semi-isolation.\" Replied Mulder.
\"Is wanting a bit of peace and quiet a Federal offense these days, Agent... Mulder?\" queried Snape.
Mulder chuckled a bit under his breath, he did have to admit that given the current political climate that anyone had a right to be suspicious of a sudden intrusion of a Federal Agent at their door. \"Mr. Snape, you are not being accused of anything. I just have a few questions about something you may have seen, and maybe not even realized you\'ve seen, in this area since you\'ve been here.\"
\"So if I\'m not under arrest, I do not have to let you in, correct?\"
\"No.. you don\'t have to let me in. But it would be better for the both of us if you just gave me a moment to see what you know,\" Mulder replied, he peeked in behind Snape, seeing if there might be something he was hiding, or something inside his home that Mulder could comment on to put the wary man more at ease. \"I see you have a lot of herbs in there... \"
\"I make tea,\" snapped Snape. \"Are you making a Federal case of that?\"
\"Mr. Snape, I would love a cup of your tea while we talk.\" Agent Mulder retorted.
Severus Snape sighed. It seemed that Agent Mulder wasn\'t going to let him off the hook so easily and that keeping him at the door was merely going to make him more suspect. \"Very well, come on in,\" said Snape and he stood aside to let the agent in.
\"This is an extremely interesting... place you have here. Sort of dungeony, though. Are you into that sort of thing?\" Mulder asked.
\"I am into peace and quiet, Agent Mulder. My ingredients for my... teas... are sometimes light-reactive and I need the dark,\" answered Snape.
Perhaps this Agent Mulder was just a bit too inquisitive. The fact of the matter is that Professor Snape really did practice magic on occasion for his own purposes. Someone might have seen something, like the house cleaning itself, grounds tending to themselves, who knows?
Snape showed Mulder into his living area and held his hand out to his couch, \"Have a seat, Agent, and we can chat about these \'magical happenings\' as you call them. I, personally, have not seen anything of the sort, but perhaps you have examples?\"
\"Just some rumors. The area has been full of them for many years lately the stories have become more specific, with quotes from actual incantations in Latin, reports of lodestones, strange smells of asphodel, and increasing amounts of wormwood being bought from stores in the area. All of these things indicate spell and potions magic, and not in the Judeo-Christian way, but in the actual, true ways of magic as practiced by Witches and Wizards for centuries. The people in this area are superstitious but not well learned in ways of real magic. Which is what brings me here today. I noticed on the way in that you have several bottles labeled with asphodel and also wormwood, not traditional tea ingredients, are they?\" said Mulder.
Mulder was a bit too observant for his own good. He certainly knew more than what Snape expected any Muggle to really know about actual magic. Furthermore, Snape suspected that Mulder wasn\'t really there to just question him in general. Though he wasn\'t sure exactly what Mulder would do if he found out that Snape was a Wizard, he couldn\'t really take the chance of anyone finding out who and what he was.
\"Mister Mulder...\"
\"AGENT Mulder, Mr. Snape.\"
\"Right then, Agent Mulder, in my searches for unusual herbs and ingredients I sometimes come across unusual items. I admit to also being a bit of a collector of the unusual. I do not have large stores of these items, but I could definitely speak to you about where I procured them. But first, some tea then?\" stated Snape.
Mulder smiled, \"Mr. Snape, I would love some of your... homemade tea.\"
Snape narrowed his eyes at Mulder for a moment and then turned on his heel and went into the next room with his herbs and remedies. He scanned the wall for his prepared tea-like remedies. Intelligus, Invisibilis, Amorus, Forgettorus, Flighterus... His finger went back to Forgetterus. \"Perfect, Forgetterus would give me enough time to get him back in his car and erase this afternoon and all that led him here, \" Snape thought.
\"Hey, Snape! I don\'t take to that cream or sugar crap in my tea, so don\'t worry about any of that!\" Mulder called after Snape.
Snape jolted at the sudden noise but grabbed a bottle off of the shelf, filled the tea ball with the herbs in it and put it into a tea cup. He poured the water he kept heated for his tea into the cup. He then prepared himself a cup of Earl Grey and brought both steaming cups into the living room. Snape set Meddler\'s tea in front of him and sat down with his own cup and immediately started drinking.
Mulder picked up his cup and put it to his mouth. He peered suspiciously at Snape but saw nothing suspicious in his activity, and, after all, Snape was also drinking. After taking a sip, Mulder found himself suddenly very thirsty and finished the cup. He couldn\'t remember exactly why he\'d come to this place now, but it seemed to have gotten very warm in the room.
Snape watched Mulder\'s expression change and saw him put down the cup. He had to admit that it made him smile that his potion worked so quickly and he had a hard time keeping himself from smiling. He had begun to think about where to leave Mulder and his car when he noticed the other man reclining on the couch, kicking his wingtips halfway off and dangling it from his toe.
\"So... Mr. Snape, this really is a nice place here. I love what you\'ve done to it, it seems homey even though it\'s a dungeon.\" Agent Mulder said.
His brow furrowed as Snape stared intently at Mulder. Certainly by now this man shouldn\'t even remember his own name, no matter where he was, nor should he be making observations about... well... anything! Maybe he needed another dose?
Mulder leaned forward, undoing his tie, \"So, has anyone mentioned to you what an attractive man you are? Really, I mean, normally I don\'t really go for men, but I have to say that I\'m having a hard time believing you\'re living here alone!\"
Severus\' right eyebrow arched in alarm. Was this some sort of unknown side effect of Forgetterus on Muggles? Was this man a mutant? Snape jumped up and ran back to his herbs and ingredients room. He stopped in shock when he reached the door and he felt his breath leave him and he felt very lightheaded.\"Dear God,\" he thought, \"I grabbed Amorus!\"
Although the Professor was in general against love potions, he\'d mixed up some Amorus for a lovelorn housewife some months ago who had paid him handsomely for it. The ingredients had to be bought in bulk, and to merely spice up a marriage one would need only a tenth of what he\'d just served to Agent Mulder. Snape stood in the doorway, supporting himself on either side with the doorframe and started desperately thinking what to do. Getting him to drink Forgetterus now would be difficult unless he could think of a seductive way to make him do that, and seduction wasn\'t really Snape\'s strong suit.
Mulder felt very lonely with Snape out of the room and after removing his tie and jacket walked over to where Snape was and began rubbing his shoulders. \"Mr. Snape, you\'re very tense, why don\'t you come back onto the couch and we\'ll see if we can work some of that tension out of you...\" Mulder offered.
Frozen, Snape tried to speak but words were failing him. \"A... ahhh... Agent.. I... well, you should... um....\" He tried to rationally think over his options while Mulder shifted himself very close behind Snape and began rubbing his chest, and feeling for ways to get under his hands under his vest.
Snape\'s mind started racing. \"Of course, it has been a very long time, and I have been out here alone, and I do have to make him forget everything anyways... I suppose my only choice is a charm and I\'lle toe to hope no one sees it... but then, he\'s under the influence of a potion, and that\'s not really fair. He\'s truly not himself. But then, he is a very tall, handsome man... and his fingers are so soft... and... \" Severus suddenly felt a very loose and cool breeze on his legs and realized his pants must be down, and something very soft, moist and wet was touching him in an exquisitely sensitive place....
----
Mulder woke up very early in the morning in a Wal-Mart parking lot in Houston, Texas. He didn\'t know what he was doing in Texas and certainly not at a Wal-Mart. Yet he felt strangely calm and satisfied. He went for his notes in the breast pocket of his coat and noticed his shirt was on inside out. Nothing in his notes indicated why he was in here.
He picked up his phone and pressed some numbers, \"Scully... there\'s something odd going on here.... I\'m at a.. uhh... Wal-Mart.\"
