Rescuing the Dragon
Title: Rescuing the Dragon (Prologue included below the required warnings and disclaimers)
Author: Kiristeen ke Alaya
Series: I bloody hope not! LOL
Genre: Xover BtVS/Harry Potter
Pairing: Draco/Harry, Spike/Xander, Willow/Snape, who knows, Ginny-Draco friendship.
Codes: Slash, Het, Graphic sex, some violence and language.
Rating: NC-17
Disclaimer: Neither the world of Harry Potter, nor the world of BtVS belong to me. They belong to their wonde cre creators. No profit will be made from this story, and no copyright infringement is intended. It is for entertainment value alone.
Warnings: There be sex contained herein of both the het and slash variety -- male/male action as well as male/female. If you\'re not old enough to be reading this, don\'t. If the idea of it squicks you, look elsewhere. I love the thought of two guys together, and I\'m not a prude about writing it either. : )~
AN: When I first read the Willow/Snape pairing, I began with the attitude, \"I re don don\'t see it.\" but as I read several wonderful authors, that pairing came alive for me. Dedications to those authors will be made at the top of chapters as I re-find the stories that made me go . . . hmmmmm. : )
Summary: Draco\'s in danger, and he\'s going to need more help than Hogwarts can provide. A certain blonde slayer has a prophetic dream. On it\'s heels, the scoobies gather together and head out in search of the young man in such dire need of protection. What they don\'t realize is their search will lead them to discover an entirely new reality, one that has existed along-side theirs since time inmemorial.
Setting: BtVS set after season 7, with one minor change. Spike survived and didn\'t end up in LA, that and Sunnydale survived, though it now sports a 30 block crater at it\'s heart.
Harry Potter -- 7th year.
I\'ve read Lucius getting \'outted\' as a death eater and not getting \'outted\', and any combination of results from said \'outting\'. I\'ve simply picked a scenario and run with it. : )~
Credits: I\'ve heard that Echo was the first author to have Willow nickname Snape \"Mr. Cranky Pants\". Personally, I *LOVE*t nit nickname coming from her, and I\'ll probably be using it. LOL Thanks Echo, you\'ve left a mark on the Harry Potter fanfic world!

Prologue
**********
Buffy lurched up out of bed, launching herself to her feet. Nightmare images replaying themselves aaticatically through her mind as she gasped, desperately trying to catch her breath. Disoriented, but wide awake -- curtesy of the mother of all adrenaline rushes -- she pressed her hand to her chest, her heart pounding rapidly against her ribs.
Okay, yeah, she was used to the freakiness that was the slayer dreams, but something about this one was . . . off. Someone was going to die if she didn\'t find them, she knew it, but that wasn\'t what had her near panic. She didn\'t know what did, though, and that thought -- as much as any other -- worried her.
For several long moments she stood quietly, sorting through what she could remember from her dream -- not much really, which surprised her no end. All she could pull out of it was-- She frowned. A boy -- young man, really -- white hair.
She jumped, startled as her bedroom door flew open.
\"What is it, Buffy?\"
Despite her growing feeling of dread, Buffy couldn\'t quite stop the giggle as she took in her best friend\'s appearance. Willow\'s bright red hair stuck up in every which direction.
Willow frowned, her eyes narrowing. \"Don\'t you laugh,\" she mock threatened, \"I know where you keep your shampoo.\"
Buffy\'s eyes widened. \"You wouldn\'t!\"
Willow smirked and just waited.
\"You would,\" Buffy acknowledged, slumping. \"Dream.\"
Willow\'s eyes widened in concern as she stepped closer, automatically reaching out and laying a comforting hand on Buffy\'s shoulder. \"A real bad one, I take it?\"
\"No,\" Buffy replied slowly, shaking her head, \"not really, just . . . weird.
\"Was it. . . ?\" Willow\'s voice trailed off significantly.
Buffy nodded this time. \"Yeah. Slayer dream.\"
Wincing, Willow nodded slowly, turning toward the door, her mind obviously already set to work out the details. \"Tell me about it,\" she said as the two of them made their way down to kit kitchen.
\"It wasn\'t much really. I was in a . . . house, I guess, a big house, all fancy.\" Buffy frowned, and threw a glance at Willow. \"Kind of like I always imagined Cordelia wanting to live in.\"
\"Oh! So basically your everyday, ordinary mansion then.\"
\"Yup, pretty much.\"
The two were silent as Buffy absently began preparing coffee. She knew she, at least, wasn\'t going to go back to sleep. The dream, vague as it was, pulled at her, and somehow she knew that time was short.
\"What else?\" Willow asked finally.
\"A blond boy, well, not boy really, I guess around 16 to 18, chained to an alter looking thingy.\"
\"Not good.\"
\"No. The thing was, everything was pretty blurry *except* him, and I could sense this . . . aura of evil all around me.\" She shuddered. \"I don\'t know, Wills. It was like the house itself was evil.\"
\"You\'re not thinking haunted houses, are you?\" Willow asked suddenly. \"Cause I gotta say, my one encounter with that was pretty much enough for me. Please say that\'s not what you\'re thinking.\"
Buffy laughed. \"No, I don\'t think so.\"
Willow sighed in exaggerated relief. \"Well, good then. So,\" she continued, \"are we starting on this right away, or is it a can wait til morning thing?\"
\"I don\'t think it can wait, Wills.\"
Willow nodded decisively and jumped up from her seat at the island counter. \"Okay, then. I\'ll round up the gang, and you can write down everything you can remember about the guy in your dream.\" Willow smirked then, waggling her eyebrows suggestively. \"Your dream guy, Buffy, you kinky thing you.\"
\"Willow!\" Buffy exclaimed, blushing instantly. \"He\'s a kid!\"
Willow just giggled and skipped out of the room.
Buffy sighed, turning her attention back to her dream as she poured the now finished coffee.
**
Willow sat back with a frustrated sigh, pretty much growling at her lack of success. Only half listening to sounds around her, Xander turning pages. Buffy taking her frustration at having to wait out on the punching bag in the training room, Giles murmuring softly to himself as he too searched for any possible upcoming prophesies, Willow tried once more to refocus her energies.
Willow stood suddenly, slamming the crystal she held onto the table. The locator spell wasn\'t working properly, and yeah, she knew her location spells\'d had *something* go wrong with them each and every time, but she\'d hoped just this once to be able to take the easy route.
\"Not working, huh?\" Xander asked, looking up from the text he was browsing.
Willow almost laughed as she realized he was grateful for a reason to stop -- even if it *was* because she was frustrated.
\"He\'s in Scotland. That\'s all I can tell you. Something\'s interfering with the spell.\"
A confused expression crossed his face then his eyes widened as he let out an amazed whistle.
Giles looked up crossly. \"What is so amazing about Scotland, Xander?\"
\"Nothing, G-man,\" Xander replied, shaking his head, utterly ignoring the look of irritation that crossed Giles\' face. \"It\'s just this poor kid must be in some *serious* trouble if his best hope is half a world away from him.\"
Silence reigned for several moments while the implications of that sank in.
\"So,\" Buffy said quietly, but firmly, striding further into the room -- Willow hadn\'t even realized she\'d been listening. \"I guess we\'re headed to Scotland then.\"
Chaos erupted, everyone voicing their opinions at the same time. Buffy and Willow laughed.
\"Scotland may not be as big as the US,\" Giles admonished drily once everyone quieted down, \"but it would still be impossible to locate a single person being protected against scrying. We shouldn\'t go haring off until we know more -- at least until we can pinpoint a smaller geographic area -- a town perhaps.\"
Buffy instantly shook her head. \"We can\'t wait. We\'ll split up. You research here, and we\'ll go. We can call as soon as we get there to see if you\'ve come up with anything.
Willow grinned at Xander as the two of them watched Buand and Giles argue. She already knew who was going to win the argument. She suspected they did as well, but argued out of long established habit.
\"Fine, then! Just take Spike with you. I don\'t want him left here with me.\"
Buffy blinked at Giles\' sudden capitulation. \"But Giles!\"
\"No. He\'s going with you.\"
Grabbing Xander\'s arm, Willow started back toward the door. \"We\'ll go pack, and I\'ll take care of getting us all tickets.\" Just as she opened the front door, she grinned. \"You get to tell Spike,\" she said, and dashed outside.
She noticed Xander was quick to follow.
