A/N: This is a prose-like poem written from Draco\'s POV. I\'m not really sure what inspired it (maybe the muse that floats in my lava lamp...?), but here it is.


I Hated You Fer

I remember when I first met you.
It seems so long ago now.
In the shops, being fitted for robes.
I did not know you then, but you did not seem so bad.
But then at school, in front of everyone, you turned me away.
I am a Malfoy. I am a pureblood!
I will not be humiliated by some halfblood.
I will not be humiliated by you.
And so I hated you. I hated you forever.

Potty. Scare head. Stupid git.
You made me a laughing stock more than just once.
I canget get the snitch from your hands!
You put my father in prison!
You save the day every time.
And there is nothing I can do to grab attention.
And there is nothing I can do to make myself look better than you.
Because you are the best there is.
And so I hated you. I hated you forever.

You come out on top every time.
You put to right all wrongs.
The professors all love you. Even Snape does in his own way.
You are the best Quidditch player the school has ever seen.
Your skills in Defense Against the Dark Arts class is unparalleled.
You help your House win the House Cup every year.
And I am just a spoiled prat in everyone\'s eyes.
And so I hated you. I hated you forever.

You made me livid and you filled my life with fury.
Because I could never be like you.
Because I was spoiled.
Because I was a bully.
Because I was the son of a Death Eater.
And you were the Boy Who Lived.
And everyone thought you were the savior.
And I am forever in your shadow.
And so I hated you. I hated you forever.

When the War came, you were you.
You fought galiantly.
You fought without killing.
You made my father a failure.
The Dark Lord killed my father because of you.
And because I am his son, my life was in danger.
Because I was wanted dead for being a failure.
And it was all your fault!
And so I hated you. I hated you forever.

I ran like a coward because of you.
I ran into you and you held out your hand to me.
Just like the saint they always called you.
You did not care who\'s side I was on.
I was a victim like all the rest.
You said you would protect me.
Like I was some sort of weak child.
How could I trust you?
You were my enemy all my life.
And I hated you. I hated you forever.

Without question, you put full faith in me.
Without shame, you asked for my help.
Without reason, you let me fight at your side.
Without hate, you showed me you cared for even your enemi Wit Without a second thought, you gave me your friendship.
And unlike you did so long ago, I did not turn you away.
I gave into the friendship.
And I think my heart gave into you more.
And I had hated you. I hated you forever.

With the heart of a hero, you vanquished the Dark Lord.
You came back in victory.
Injured and bloody, but head thrown high.
You saved the world.
You saved me.
You were the hero everone said you were.
And everyone still loved you.
And you stopped and smiled at me.
And I think my heart stopped.
Then restarted again.
And I had hated you. I hated you forever.

But now I will love you for the rest of my life.
