CHAPTER 9

"I see," Lt. Colonel Alton Murphy, Squadron Leader of Green Squadron, said as he looked at the men sitting across from him.  "And you now think this has been going on for quite some time?"

"Roark was not the first he approached, then refused to take no for an answer,"  Apollo told him as he sat at the conference table they all now sat around.  "It has since been brought to our attention that Flight Sergeant LeShawn DeAngelo has made it a habit of accosting the young men and women who come aboard."

"It has been determined," Lt. Colonel Aiden Durin spoke up, taking the file from Captain William Weasley, and handing it to him, "that there is enough evidence to warrant a full investigation into not only his actions, but those of his three closest friends, aboard this Battlestar, and others.  That investigation is to be started at once. Myself, my partner Sergeant Kaden, Captain William Weasley, and his partner, Lt. Samuel Melton, will be talking to those witnesses that have come forward, and looking for those that have not."

Looking up from the file he had been looking through with a deep frown.  "I had no idea he had been doing this."

"No one did," Apollo told him, "so don't feel bad.  He and his friends, it seems, have made something of a game of this.  Assigning points to what they managed to get from those they accosted."

Alton sighed, running a hand over his face.  "I feel responsible."

That got him a few arched brows.  "Why so?" Lt. Samuel Melton asked.

          "For not paying closer attention."

"You are not the only one at fault there, Al.  It's my job as Strike Commander to watch out for behavior unbecoming a Warrior, I failed in that myself, and now here we are."

"Where is Flight Sergeant LeShawn now?"  Bill asked as he wrote something in the file before him.

"Should be returning from his patrol any moment."

Nods.  "He is to be arrested as soon as he exits his Viper.  He will then be escorted to the brig, where he will remain until we have completed this investigation."

                                                                               cccVccc

Roark entered to silent launch bay, moving slowly through the vast bay and its lines of vipers, and shuttles, to where his viper sat.  Another three sectons had passed and they were mere days out of Cimtar, and the intended meeting between the Cylon's Imperious Leader, President Adar, and the Council of Twelve to discuss the terms of this Peace.

Raising his hand, his fingers traced over his name painted on the side.  During the last three sectons, there had been a few problems with DeAngelo's closest friends, only for them to stop when he and three of his closest friends had been arrested, and even now sat in the brig, awaiting the conclusion of the investigation.

He sighed deeply, thinking they were going to find that this mess was going to turn out to be a whole lot bigger than anyone had ever thought it would be.    "I'm going to make you a bet," he said late one evening as he and the two investigating teams met in his quarters for a late supper.

"A bet?" Kaden had asked, his green eyes wary as they looked over at him.

He grinned as he picked up his wine glass and sipped.  "Um hum," his silver eyes twinkled as he looked at each of them.  "This had been going on for far longer than anyone suspected, AND that it isn't only the Galactica."

"So...oo not taking that bet," Aiden had said a bit grimly as he handed over one of the statements they had taken.  "I've placed a call to Roark on the Solaria since this young lady is stationed there.  He said he would start looking into it."

"Commander Adama has contacted  Admiral Roark on Caprica.  We now have a full, Fleet-wide investigation." Bill sat back in his own chair, a mug of steaming tea in his hand.

Harry looked up from one of the statements he had been reading.  "Unfortunately, I think that may be a good idea.  I think we all know we're going to find this has spread as far as the Colonies themselves.  I mean, why WOULDN'T they do this when visiting other Colonies?  It was a game to them.  See how many of the new people coming on board they could coax into their beds."

"It wasn't just the new ones, Harry," Samuel said as he reached for his tea with a sigh, holding up a sheet of paper with his other.  "This statement is from one of the bridge officers.  He's been on board for nearly two yahren, working one of the targeting stations.  He says that DeAngelo promised he would make it look like he was the one who approached HIM."

"They also used couched threats to keep them from saying anything to anyone."

Tracing his name as he thought about that late-night dinner and brainstorming of the mess that had come from the investigation, he began to move once again, his fingers now sliding over the underbelly of his viper, heaving another sigh.  GODS DAMN but he missed Rodolphus.  Oh, he loved to fly, no doubt about that.  Loved being aboard the Galactica, but he wished Rodolphus were with him.

To be out there in the vastness that was space...Rodolphus had been right about that as well.  He had also been right when he had said that sex was the next best thing to flying.  He smiled suddenly, Rodolphus' face coming to the front of his mind.  He missed the times they would sit together at the end of their day to talk, or just sit snuggled together.

"That is a very nice smile, Captain Roark."
