Preparing to Fight
“Can everyone please stand for a moment?” he requests.
More scraping noises are heard as we all comply. Then with a wave of his wand all the big tables vanish to be replaced with rows of chairs. I walk up to Harry and Ron, sitting with them as Lupin begins.
“I’m glad to see so many of you have stayed to help us and your friends. It is going to be a long and difficult day. As you know we have a source that verifies Voldemort is planning to attack the school tonight. His only goal is to get to Harry and end this war in his favor. Now none of us want that to happen so we are going to have to work together to stop him.” He stops to take a breath, looking at each individual face in the crowd. “Harry has been training you all in spells and defenses so I know you are prepared to use them. What you are not prepared for is how ruthless and uncaring the Death Eaters are. So I believe the best thing for you to do is try to indirectly engage in the fight. To do this you can spread out looking for holes to shoot spells through as the Order fights. Remember you can not use an Unforgivable. We will not have that hanging on any of your heads. Leave the Death Eaters deal with their conscious. Just do the best you can while trying to remain hidden.”
He began pacing around us all thinking for a minute before continuing.
“We are going to separate you into groups. Each group will be with an Order member. Do what ever this person tells you. Do not go off on your own. Each member has a location they are to watch so that is where you will be stationed. Tonight will be chaos so prepare yourselves as much as you can. Alright, let’s break up into groups. Harry you will be with Dumbledore. Ron, Hermione and Neville please come with me…”
As he called names everyone rearranged themselves to be with the person they were told. Then each Order member lead their charges out of the Hall to go explain what they were supposed to do.
Neville, Harry, Ron and I remained with Lupin and the rest of the Order. Mrs. Weasley came over to check on us.
“Are you sure you will be able to do this? It’s not to late to send you to stay with Ginny you know.”
“We’re fine Mum. We want to help. If my best friend has to face the man who has been trying to kill him all his life, the least I could do is be here for it.”
“He’s right Mrs. Weasley we have to be here to help Harry,” I agreed.
“Oh alright, but I can’t help worrying about you all.” She begins to shake as tears fill her eyes. Seeing this Mr. Weasley comes over to pull her away. But not before we all give her a hug, telling her we would be alright. It seems that we are all saying that a lot lately. I’m not sure why, since it doesn’t seem to make anyone feel any better.
“Harry, come with me please. We have much to discuss before things get started.” Dumbledore leads Harry to his office.
“Now let’s practice some spells you three. We have time and being on the front lines as you all have requested, against my better judgment I might add, we need to make sure you have everything down. Neville I hear you have made a vast improvement. I knew you had it in you. We just needed to bring it out. How about if we start with Expelliramus. The basics are still the best.”
