RAVENRIN & SLYTHERCLAW – Chapter 9
Over the next few days Argenta was busy sending birthday greetings to her father and Severus, well he was her Head of House and now her lover. Meanwhile Honeysuckle was sending Mr Weasley a birthday card to only receive a thank you note from him and Molly. Argenta’s ‘detentions’ continued with Severus, who was finding the smallest of excuses to have her visit him after school hours, and both were beginning to enjoy themselves too much for comfort and had nearly been caught twice by Moody and Malfoy, but at separate times. Honeysuckle was spending more and more time writing to Charlie in Romania and receiving letters in return too. Each letter passed between the two were growing more and more intermit and adoring. On the morning of the second task Honeysuckle not only received another letter from Charlie, but one from within the confines of the castle itself. Looking at the handwriting carefully before opening the wax sealed letter, Honeysuckle had no idea who in the castle could be writing to her, rather than talk to her. She soon found out the letter was about. In it she found the details for a challenge prank set by the Weasley Twins, who were now craning their necks at the Gryffindor table to see if she had received and opened the letter. Honeysuckle grinned mischievously as she read the letter.
Honeysuckle,
This challenge, if you chose to accept it, is as follows.
To break into Snape’s office, without being caught, paint the walls a lovely vibrant, neon pink, fill the air with pretty butterflies and write the following on the board.
‘I love you Snapey-Poos. Don’t worry, your sparkly, purple thong is safe in my desk drawer.
Kisses from Mummsy xx
If you do get caught, your forfeit is to dance to ‘Little Butterfly’ on your House table, whilst dressed up as a pretty, floaty butterfly. We await your reply and counter forfeit for us if you manage to pull off this monumental prank.
Yours Foolishly
Messers Fred & George Weasley Esquires
Honeysuckle dove into her bag and pulled out a slip of parchment and a quill and began to write the Twins’ forfeit back.
Messers Fred & George Weasley Esquires,
Your forfeit if I Honeysuckle Blonde, should perform the challenge without being caught is that you must dance on your House table, dressed in the New Romance style and to the track ‘Prince Charming’ by Adam and the Ants (They’re a Muggle 80’s band). I will teach you the dance that goes with the song, so please accept this note as my agreement to the challenge and shall set to it straight away.
Yours Prankicality
Miss Honeysuckle Blonde, Queen of Pranks, Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry- Well until I leave!
Pleased with her answer, Honeysuckle folded it tightly and whispered instructions to the owl, who had hanged around, hopped off the Ravenclaw table, circled the Hall a couple of times before plunging to the Gryffindor table and stopped in front of the Twins. Honeysuckle showed Argenta the challenge note, who laughed hard at what her friend had to do and offered her help. Honeysuckle welcomed the offer but turned it down as she knew she had to do it on her own. She decided to perform the challenge that morning, during the first half of the second task when everyone would be down by the lake. She made her way down to the dungeons and eventually managed to break through the wards on the office. She entered and set to work by changing the walls to a blinding pink straight away and was filling the air with various butterflies when she heard someone at the door.
“Miss Blonde! Just what are you doing?,” boomed Professor Moody, who crossed the office and take a couple of vials off a shelf before turning to face her and hear the explanation. Honeysuckle was silenced by fear so handed Moody the letter instead and waited for the booming voice to tell her off and give her detention. But he laughed instead, quite joyfully too.
“You may finish your challenge Miss Blonde. But be sure to tell a certain pair of red- heads you were caught and therefore have to perform your forfeit. I will, of course help you, by writing on the board. The art of disguising your own handwriting is a very tricky business. Good job I’m an ex Auror!”
“Thank you Sir,” Honeysuckle managed to stutter and turned her back to the professor and continued to conjure the butterflies.
“I am always willing to help make a certain escaped Death Eater’s life hell. I detest Death Eaters, especially the ones that get away,” Moody muttered as he wrote the message on the board, but not low enough for Honeysuckle to miss.
‘I must warn Argenta,’ she thought once everything had been completed and Moody was now leading her out of the office, casting wards back on the walls before they both walked to the lake and to the task. Honeysuckle detached herself as soon as she could to go and find her friend in the crowd.
