Lavender Brown
Chapter 9 ~ Lavender Brown
”Lavender, what were you thinking?” Parvati asked her friend as she sat on her bed. Her nose was very red, as was the skin around her right eye. “You knew Ron was going out with Hermione. Why did you do it?”
Tears fell from Lavender’s eyes.
”Because, Parvati, I still love him,” she said softly. “He was my first, in everything. I can’t seem to forget that.”
”But he moved on, Lavender—he—doesn’t want you anymore,” the Indian witch said to her softly, “and now—everyone thinks you’re a slut. You shouldn’t have done it.”
Lavender wiped her eyes.
”You know they’re wrong for each other, Parvati. They’re too different. I overheard Ron talking to Harry about her, how Hermione won’t—she doesn’t meet any of his needs. I know what his needs are. I know every inch of Ronald Weasley.”
Parvati shook her head.
”Lavender, it doesn’t matter if they’re suited for each other or not. The fact was they were together and you should have left it at that, not tried to seduce Ron away from her. It was stupid, not to mention wrong,” she told her friend.
Lavender was so spontaneous, so fucking air-headed at times. Did she think a wizard would just forget about everyone else because of a bloody blowjob?
Lavender tried to explain her actions.
”I saw him at the Three Broomsticks without her, and after a couple of drinks I figured I’d make a go at him. Remind him of what we had, what I was willing to do for him. Parvati, he responded to me. He liked what I did. He even said he missed it,” Lavender told her.
”He missed getting a blowjob, not you, Lavender. There’s a big difference,” Parvati replied, starting to brush Lavender’s hair as she sat beside her, to calm her.
Lavender was quiet for a moment.
”He must have told Hermione. He was always so honest about everything, even when it hurt,” she said, leaning her head slightly and closing her eyes as the brush moved through her hair. “I didn’t think he’d do that. I was going to send her an anonymous note about it.”
Parvati shook her head.
”Lavender, no wizard is worth what’s happened to you,” she said softly.
Lavender didn’t seem to hear her.
”He was my first in everything, Parvati. Everything I know about sex I learned being with him. I never let anyone touch me before Ron. And gods, he was so . . . explorative. He wanted to try everything and I was willing to do it, because I loved him so much. But—although he told me he cared about me, loved what we’d do together, he never told me he loved me for me . . .”
Parvati paused, feeling Lavender’s pain, then continued drawing the brush through her long hair.
”I got this crazy idea that if I did that for him, he’d realize what he was missing and break it off with Hermione,” she said brokenly. “I wanted it to be something sexy, like out of Playwitch. You know how wizards like that, Parvati.”
”They’re all pigs,” Parvati responded, scowling. “If he didn’t want you to do it, really didn’t want you to, he could have stopped you, Lavender. He didn’t. So, somewhere inside he wanted it to happen. And then—and I can’t believe this—you told Draco of all people. Why did you do that? You should have known he’d spread it all over the school.”
Lavender shook her head.
”I don’t know, Parvati. I was in pain, and feeling horrible and he sounded so concerned. I guess I just needed to talk to somebody,” Lavender responded.
”Hermione must have hit you in the head pretty hard to make you believe you could trust Draco,” Parvati sighed, shifting around the witch and sitting behind her, so she could get to the back of her hair. “Now, you’re the slut of Hogwarts. Wizards are going to be saying things and asking you to do all kinds of things now. And the witches—forget it.”
Lavender didn’t say anything at first.
”But I won’t do it. I only want Ron like that,” she said softly. “He’s the only wizard for me, Parvati.”
”That won’t make a difference,” Parvati told her.
”I don’t care. Most people think I’m an airhead anyway because of my belief in divination. But I saw what was going to happen to Ron if he went with Hermione back in my fifth year, in the tea leaves. He was going to be in mortal danger. The signs were so bad, Parvati. I didn’t think he was going to live. After we started going out, he’d get mad at me when I’d warn him. I knew he liked Hermione even then, but I thought I’d make him forget about her. But he didn’t. One day he just told me it was over. That he couldn’t stay with me feeling the way he did about Hermione. He was honest even then. I cried buckets, Parvati. Buckets. I haven’t gone out with anyone since.”
”Maybe you should have,” Parvati said. “Maybe you should have just gotten back on the broom. There are plenty of nice wizards, Lavender. Even nicer than Ron, who would appreciate you.”
Lavender shook her head.
”I know he doesn’t want me, Parvati, but I can’t see myself doing anything with anyone but him. It would be like—like cheating on him,” she told the witch, who raised both eyebrows at her.
”Lavender, this isn’t healthy. At all. You’ve been attacked twice today because of what you’ve done, and—and you’ve ruined your reputation as well. You’ve got to let this go before something even worse happens to you. I’m—I’m kind of scared for you.”
Parvati was afraid that Lavender would get so depressed over this, she might hurt herself. It was extremely bad judgment to do what she did, and now she had to deal with the aftermath. It might get to her if it became too bad.
”Don’t be scared, Parvati. I took a chance and failed. But, there might be more opportunities. I’m pretty sure Hermione and Ron broke up about this. He’s by himself now,” the witch said, a bit of hope in her voice.
Parvati stopped brushing her hair.
”Lavender, leave Ron alone,” she said warningly. “If they are broken up, he probably hates you right now. He cared about Hermione. He really did. Everyone could see it.”
”But no one saw she didn’t care about him, did they?” Lavender snapped venomously. “The way she talked down to him, always calling him ‘idiot’ and ‘git’ and putting other things ahead of him, like exams and studying.. Do you know the reason she wasn’t with him that night was because she was with Professor Snape, learning something? Imagine, leaving your boyfriend alone on a Friday night to—to study. What kind of girlfriend does that? Not to mention refusing to sleep with him. She’s wrong for him, all wrong. She’ll never take care of him, Parvati. If he married her, it would be the biggest mistake of his life, because he’d never be first with her. She’s bloody selfish! I’d do everything I could to make him happy. I don’t mind cooking and cleaning. I know how to take care of children. I was raised to do that. My mum is a stay-at-home mum. She does a little healing on the side, but she’s always taken care of home and family first. That’s the kind of world he comes from, Parvati. That’s the kind of world I come from. Hermione’s not from that world—she thinks she’s too brilliant ‘just’ to be a wife and mother, as if that’s meaningless. I see it clear as day, if no one else does.”
Parvati didn’t say anything, but knew Lavender was right in some respects. Hermione Granger was destined for greatness. She was already a hero and had the highest marks Hogwarts had seen in years. Ron was a hero too, personable, fun, and not stupid, but he wasn’t on the same page as Hermione Granger.
Hell, he wasn’t even in the same book.
“Lavender, you aren’t the guardian angel of Ronald Weasley. You’ve got to get that through your head for your own good. You should have left him alone that night and you should leave him alone now,” she told Lavender, who was fuming now, her blue eyes slitted.
Hell, she had risked everything to take a chance at Ron. Now, she was all beaten up, the castle slut and probably hated by more than a few people. But one good thing had come out of it. Hermione and Ron were no longer together, and that was what she really wanted. She had been successful at least on one front.
Would a normal person think what she’d gone through was worth it? Probably not.
But, an obsessed person?
Yes. Definitely yes.
And at that moment, Lavender Brown’s already skewed cheese slipped neatly and completely off its cracker. She wasn’t going to give up. Fuck what Parvati thought. Fuck what anyone thought. There were ways to make reluctant wizards become more cooperative. Even ways to make them fall in love.
Ways that involved . . . magic.

A/N: Just a short Lavender Brown chapter. I thought it was necessary to round it out somewhat. Everyone has a point of view, even witches that would shove a wizard into a bathroom stall and give him a blowjob. Sounds like things are going to get interesting in several areas in this story. Well, we’ll see. It's set up for plenty of action and suspense I think. We’ll see how it unfolds. Thanks for reading.
A/N/N: I made a little manip of Hermione whoopin' on Lavender. Not a great one, but fun anyway. You can see it on the front page of theburningpen.com :)
