Rebirth of Merlin

{Snape Manor}

Lucas had been having the time of his life. He now had a Father and his Mother was the happiest he'd seen her. Christmas had been a crazy time for him, with his parents acting all 'silly'. He just didn't understand why they were always touching. James and his Mama never did much of that, so it confused him. But he wasn't complaining, for when the pretty wrapped boxes had come out his parents silliness was forgotten.

Lilly & Severus knew that Lucas thought their touching was silly. But they figured the best way to insure Lucas that this was the normal way of parents. During the Christmas gifting they both watched as the child's face lit up over everything from candy to the small child broom.

Lilly had laughed when Lucas first sat on the broom. Because his little face wrinkled in confusion, for the broom didn't go more than her knee level. And knowing Lucas like she did the boy was disappointed. His Levitation chair went higher than that broom.

Seveus loved the sight of his son unwrapping everything with joy. This was what he had missed desperately. Lilly was his now and so was Lucas and after their private ceremony after New Years. He had decided to take both of them to Paris for a family honeymoon, they just didn't know it yet.

James Potter and Jamie were having a good Christmas. Little Jamie was having a ball with all his gifts oblivious of his Father's thoughts. James had given all the gifts he felt his heir needed with as much candy as possible. Even though he was waiting for the other shoe to drop so to speak. Since Lilly had left he hadn't heard a word. She didn't even send Jamie a Christmas gift. That he thought was odd in itself. He wouldn't understand the reason of no contact until after the New Year, and then he would regret ever messing with the contract between Lilly & Severus Snape.

Albus Dumbledore was inwardly chuckling, soon one of his favorite students would have what he was denied. He had always felt Severus was a son to him and Lilly a daughter. And know he would be able to have that. As well as Lucas and hopefully the second half of the prophecy wouldn't come to pass.

Minerva McGonnagil was descretely watching Albus while the holiday feast was underway. She felt as if something was a miss the man was acting like he held a secret. A secret
that held the most happiness for him that it was raidiating off him in waves.

{Snape Manor}

The day after New Year the whole Manor was a buzz. The House-Elves were scurring about with a purpose and a sense of uncontrolled happiness. Cleaning and moving things while preparing for some large celebration.

Lucas was watching them with confusion, while he sat in his Levi chair. He didn't know what was going on. First he was gotten up by a house-elf and then dressed by one as well. Now that wouldn't have bothered him, only the fact that he hadn't seen his Mama all morning. Not even at breakfast, and now it seemed as if the elves had lost their minds.

" I'm gonna look for Papa? " Lucas whispered shakin his head at the little creatures, as he willed his chair toward the study.

Lilly was a mess, she was trying to get herself dressed for the ceremony. But all she could think of was Lucas. Was he going to be happy? Or would he be angry at all the deception? Could he and Severus get along after this?. Those were some of the thoughts running through her head as she donned her white gown.

Severus was in a right state, first he had fought the Ministry about the new Marriage contract. Then he had to get Albus to not come early so that he could get Lucas dressed at the last minute. The thought of Lucas floating around the Manor at this moment made a shudder go down his spine. He was sure that the boy was confused with all the hustle and bustle. He was jolted out of his thoughts when a loud banging of his study door was heard. "Enter" was all he got out before the door was slammed open and Lucas came barreling in with a look of pure terror.

" What's wrong Lucas?"

Lucas studied his Father with narrowed eyes. The man was wearing silver/green dress robes and his hair was tied back. Now he knew something was going on with out his knowledge. And he didn't like it. Not one little bit.

" Wrong? Yes, the elves are acting crazy and Mama is nowhere to be found?"

Severus raised a brow at the boys words. He was about to speak when Lucas opened his mouth again.

" What are you hiding 'Father'? "

" I'm hiding nothing Lucas. Come we need to get you dressed in robes withing the next 10 minutes or we'll be late." Severus replied slowly as he motioned for the boy to follow.

" Late for what? Has this got something to do with 'My' missing Mother?"

Nodding Severus went down the hall in a quick pase only glancing at times to make sure Lucas was following behind him. Inside he was in termoil. Would the boy be angry when he found out what was really happening between his parents. He sure hoped not, but he was marrying Lilly not his son.

After arriving in Lucas's rooms, he then proceeded to dress the child in dress robes of silver/green and pull his hair into a clip of a snake. If Lucas didn't know for sure that something was going on before then he would now. When they were finished he placed the boy back in his chair and told him to stay clean and meet him back in the Parlor in the next five minutes.

Albus Dumbledore had just flooed into Snape Manor and was being lead to the Parlor. Upon entering he saw Severus standing at the fireplace with a worried look.

"Severus, is everything alright?"

Severus snapped his face toward the voice and sighed when he realized it was just Albus.
"Lucas has no idea what's going on today, Albus. Lilly and I wanted to surprise him. But now I feel as though I have lied to my son."

"Ah, A lie by omission, Severus my boy. Lucas will understand when it's all over. I'm sure he's just confused at not seeing his Mother and then you as well as himself having dressed for a party."

Severus nodded as he motioned for Albus to sit as they waited for Lilly and Lucas to enter the parlor.

Lucas was still sitting in his Levi chair in his room. He was confused, not to mention alittle scared. First the elves and then no Mama, and to top it all off his Papa was dressed to party and so was he. Oh he knew it had to do with his Mama, because his Papa had admitted to that. But what it was he didn't know. His first thought was his Mama had left him. But he knew better, so it had to do with the way they were dressed maybe there was some party they had to attend and it was a surprise for him. That had to be it so with that thought he headed for the parlor.

Lilly had finally made it down to the parlor and entered with a smile when she thought about what was going to happen. But her smile left when she saw Lucas was missing.

"Where's Lucas?"

Severus and Albus stood up at the sound of her voice. They both knew the boy should have been there by now. Severus was about to go looking when said child hovered through the door with a yell.

"MAMA!!" Lucas yelled as he hovered toward her. His eyes widened even more at the dress she was wearing. Not to mention Grandpa Alby was there too.

Lilly smiled brightly as she saw her little man coming toward her. She knew that the morning had to way on his emotions. When he was beside her she bent down and kissed his cheek.

Lucas giggled at the kiss. He was glad his Mama was there. But he didn't know what was going on and so he asked. "What's going on Mama?"

"Well Lucas, Severus and I are going to get married." Lilly answered with a smile as she moved to wrap her arms around Severus.

Lucas just blinked thinking 'Did I just hear Mama say the word marry?'. The he looked up at Grandpa Alby and said in a whisper, "What?"

Albus could feel the slight tremble of Lucas's magic when he heard his mothers words. And when the little one looked up and him with innoccent eyes and whisper what. He froze, the child seemed to be confused and alittle hurt.

"Lucas your parents are going to make your family offical. So that they can be with you and raise you together." Albus explained softly as he moved closer to the child.

"Ok" whispered Lucas as he nodded his head in understanding. While inside a raging storm was brewing. He didn't understand why they were doing this so fast. Don't get him wrong, he was happy for his Mama. But with everything going so fast, his little mind was racing. Sure he was beyond intelligent, a prodigy his Grandpa called him. But he was still alittle kid and said kid was wondering where he fit into this little situation.

Inside Severus was beginning to doubt getting married. Lucas looked as though he was beyond confused. 'Damn I should have explained this to him.'

Lilly wasn't doing much better, she wanted to grab Lucas and tell him everything was going to be fine. 'Maybe we should have waited alittle longer.'

"Excellant! Now what I want you to do Lucas is either hover over beside me or you can stand beside me." Albus started as he watched Lucas lower his chair and start to climb out. When the boy was out his walked slowly over to stand beside his Granpa clutching his tiny hands to the man's robes.

"Lilly and Severus I want you to stand beside each other and hold hands. Then I'll begin."

Severus and Lilly shared a look and did as bid. Neither one of them glanced at their son. They were going through with the ceremony and then after they would explain everything to Lucas.

Albus began chanting as a golden rope of magic began to form around the couple. Indicating they were soul mates. He didn't stop until the bond was formed and the golden rope had entered them both.

Lucas couldn't understand all of what Grandpa Alby was saying but he got the important peices. Words like 'bind';'soul';'eternal love'. He watched as the golden rope of magic entered his parents and wondered what they were going to do with him now they were married. James and his Mama were married and James didn't stay around much. His Mama was always with him, while James was never. Thinking did that mean his Papa would just toss him aside too? Was his Mama still his Mama? Did his Papa still want him?. He was knocked out of his thoughts when Grandpa Alby said you may kiss to seal your union. He then looked up to see his Mama and Papa kissing and a glimmer of gold caught his vision.
'When did I miss that part?' he thought as he held frozen in place, beside his Grandpa.

When they broke apart, Severus picked Lilly up swinging her around saying,
"You're mine, finally you're all mine!". Neither of them noticing the single tear that ran down Lucas's face. But one person did, Albus had watched Lucas out of the corner of his eyes as Severus began swinging his wife around and saying the words.


Lucas couldn't help the single tear that trailed down his cheek at his Papa's words.
'you're all mine' was all he heard over and over in his head. He finally just lowered his eyes to the floor. He felt as if he was losing his Mama. To a man that was his real Papa, but one that he didn't really know. He didn't even register that he had been picked up and carried from the room by his Grandpa. He was to lost in the thought of losing the only person that was ever a constant in his life.

Albus could feel the termiol in Lucas and just picked him up. Carrying him out of the room without even backward glance at the newly wed couple. He knew that they would soon realize that they were alone and come looking. But he had to get Lucas somewhere so he could figure out what had cause the rift in the boy's magic. It had begun wavering in a manner that scared the old mage, more than he was willing to admit. And after telling one of the elves to let the Lord and Lady of the Manor know were the two would be he flooed quickly to his office at Hogwarts.

It was another twenty minutes before Lilly and Severus realized they were alone. And as one they asked the other. "Where's Lucas?"

At that Litty the elf popped in and informed them that the old mage had taken the child to Hogwarts. And stated that the child looked alittle ill. But she couldn't understand why.

Severus and Lilly listened to the elf, contray to what many believed the Snape's had always listened when one of their house-elves spoke to them. For it was a good thing when said elves were usually silent and hidden.

"Oh Sev, what have we done?"

Severus didn't know what to say. He just held his new wife as she cried, as he moved her toward the fireplace in the Grand Room. Before flooing them both to Hogwarts, something was wrong with their son. And for the life of him, he couldn't place what would have caused it.

{Hogwarts Headmaster's Office}

Albus had succefully flooed but he and Lucas to his office and sat down. The child felt like ice. He wanted to know what was going through the boy's head, so he called for Fawkes. When the phoenix flashed in it went directly to the child.

:Child of Light, what troubles you?:

Lucas looked upon the pheonix with dead eyes. :Mama married Papa today.:

:And that's a bad thing?:

Lucas just shook his head no. Confusing Fawkes causing the pheonix to trill loudly.

:The what is wrong, that causes you to feel so dead?:

:Papa said Mama was all his. He said "You're mine, finally you're all mine.:

Fawkes trilled in understanding.

:You feel as though he has taken your Mother from you Child of Light? (At Lucas's nod, he continued.) But that is not the case?(Lucas snapped his eyes wide at the pheonix) Your Father was just expressing his happiness at having your Mother as his wife, which should have been his from the beginning.:

:So he's not taking her away from me? And his still going to be my Papa?:

Fawkes trilled :Yes:

Lucas sighed as a bright smile lit upon his face. Before he hugged Fawkes in thanks before said pheonix flashed out again.

Albus didn't know what they were saying because it was coming out as trills and clicks. Another thought hit Albus that little Lucas was possibly a beast speaker if not he would have to eat his wizard hat.

When Lucas's body began to heat back up and his magic regain it's normal patterns. Albus had to inwardly sigh in happiness. And when said child's face lit with a smile he too had to smile softly.

"Are you alright now Lucas?" Albus asked after Fawkes had left them.

Lucas nodded as he turned to snuggle into the man's robes. He felt alot better about the whole marrige thing now. And just wanted to be held by his Granpa and feel the old man's magic as it hummed around him like a waterfall.

"Do you want to tell him what happened back at the Manor, childling?"

"Everything was going so fast Grandpa." (Lucas paused as he looked into the man's eyes and was glad to see understanding in them.) "Mama and me left James and then were in this new place. With a man that is my real Papa." Lucas sighed as he closed his eyes before he continued. "Then Christmas and then today I couldn't see Mama and Papa was acting strange and so was the elves. And I guess when Papa said what he did about Mama being all his I just didn't know where I stood is all."

Albus listened to his grandson speak like a child beyond his years. It was hard enough for a child of going on eighteen months when things changed. But for Lucas being a prodigy child and far to intelligent for his age it was even harder. For the boy was trying to analize every little thing.

"And now you do?"

Lucas looked at him with eyes mixed with confusion and sadness. "Not really," he said as he closed his eyes again before drifting off to sleep. Not even hearing the floo activate reveiling a sobbing Lilly and scared Severus Snape.

Albus had to close his eyes to keep the tears from coming. He faintly heard the floo come to life before he slowly opened them to see the faces of Lilly and Severus.

"Severus/Lilly we need to talk." Albus stated with sad eyes as he shifted Lucas closer to him. Before nodding his head toward the chairs in front of his desk.

Severus and Lilly sat down in silence. They both could sense that something wasn't right. But they knew that Albus would explain.

"Lucas doesn't know where he fits into to all this." Albus started and raised a hand when they both began to speak. " He's confused and scared. Now Fawkes talked to him and made him feel some what better. However the two of you need to let this child know that he is loved and what his place is now that the two of you are married."

"I don't understand Albus, he knows we love him." Lilly whispered as she moved to sit on Severus's lap.

"Lilly's right Albus, we've told Lucas that we love him and he was our son." Severus stated with a sharp nod. Before wrapping his arms around his upset wife.

"Lucas feels that everything was going to fast for him.(Having to raise a hand to silence them again.) I know that you both love the child. And that you wanted to be married as soon as possible because you were both denied that years ago. But what you both are going to have to understand is that Lucas is not your normal eighteen month old child. He's not going to smile and laugh and let things go. He will need you both to tell him what's going on in an adult language. Not treat him as any ordinary child."

They both sat and listened to what Albus was saying. They had forgotten that Lucas was overly intelligent and was treating him as a normal child. That was their first mistake and one that they were just now having to acknowledge.

"We're sorry Albus, you're right we were just treating him as a normal child. Not one that was more intelligent. I was just seeing him as an ordinary eighteen month old with the understanding and control of his magic. I didn't think I was going about it all wrong." sighed Severus as he looked at the man with a sad smile. Lilly just nodded her agreement. She knew Lucas was by far more than any other child his age. But she still tried to treat him as such and it was back firing on her.

"Raising Lucas is going to be a hard thing to do. He is going to test the waters and when I mean test them. I mean he is going to really test them. There aren't many muggle children that have the intellegince Lucas does. And I can tell you with certainty that 'NO' magical child had every been born with this much intellegince. So we're going to have some bumps in the road. No make that craters, because as he grows we're going to be growing with him. After you all get back from Paris and things calm down some, come this summer I'm going to be starting Lucas on his magiacal studies. Because we can't let him grow stale. And I suggest you look into some of the muggle prodigy children in the next couple of years. Just so he can have some kids his own age if, and this is a big if I can get the Prime Minister's approval. " Albus paused in his lecture to make sure that they both had understood what he was saying and that it was sinking in.

"Alright, take Lucas and go on your family honeymoon or vacation. Whatever you want to call it. And make sure that by the time you come back that Lucas understands where is belongs in this new family of his." Albus stated as he stood up with Lucas before handing him over to Severus to carry.

He watched as Severus flooed out and as Lilly began to leave, she stopped at looked up at him with red eyes. "Tell me it's going to be ok, Albus. Tell me, because I don't want to make a mistake and Lucas turns his back on us all."

"Don't worry Lilly we're going to try our hardest to make sure we don't make a mistake."
Albus said with a smile that didn't quite reach his eyes. But he watched as Lilly nodded before flooing out.

When she was gone, he collapsed in his chair behind his desk. Before placing his face in his hands, he whispered. "Dear Goddess guide us true, for we can't afford to make a mistake with Lucas or all maybe lost."
