Closer

Barely a week had passed before Hermione was packing her trunk. She was so excited about getting out from under her parents. She knew they were just trying to help but they were smuttering her.

She had her trunk open on her bed and was tossing her things into it. There was a knock on her bedroom door.

"Come in," she said as she started to empty her closet.

The door opened and her father walked inside.

"Hi daddy," she said stuffing her clothes inside the trunk.

"Hi pumpkin," he said leaning against the wall. "Almost all packed?"

"Nearly there," she said loading her books inside.

"Are you sure you want to go?" Hugo asked.

"yes," she answered closing the trunk. "I have a job waiting for me."

"Are you doing it for him?" he asked.

"No," she said shaking her head. "I'm doing it for me, him, and the babies."

"I'm not going to try and stop you from going," he said. "I just want you to know you can always come back here."

"Thank you daddy," she said walking over to her father.

He pulled her into a tight hug. Hermione didn't know how long the hug lasted. She didn't want to let go of her father. She knew she would miss him a lot.

"I have to go," she said pulling away from him.

"How are you going to get there?" he questioned.

"I'll take the knight bus to Hogsmeade," she explained pulling out her wand. "From there I'll walk up to Hogwarts."

"All ready to go?" he asked.

"Yep," she said pointing her wand at her trunk.

The trunk started to float a few inches off the bed. Hermione took the trunk by the handle and led it out of the room and down the stairs. He father was right behind her.

When Hermione reached the front door she found her mother waiting for her.

"I'm going to miss you baby," her mother said in a weak voice.

"I'll miss you too," she said hugging her Mum. "Don't worry. I'll be fine and I'll write you."

"You better," Jane said and laughed slightly.

Hermione said goodbye to both of them again before walking outside with her trunk. The street outside was dark, quiet, and empty. She held out her wand hand. She was nearly knocked out of her feet when the bus appeared.

The bus stopped in front of her and the door opened. Stan appeared at the door.

"Welcome to the knight bus," he said smiling at her. "Where can I take you?"

"Hogsmeade," she explained heading onto the bus.

Stan pulled the trunk in behind her and sat it next to one of the beds.

"That will be eleven sickles," Stan explained. "For an extra two sickles you get hot chocolate-"

"I don't want anything else," Hermione said cutting him off. "I just want to go to sleep."

Hermione handed him the money before crashing on one of the beds. It felt so good to be heading to Hogwarts.

Severus didn't know why he was nervous. Ever since Hermione had sent an owl saying that she would be coming to Hogwarts in two days he had been nervous.

Only he and Minvera knew she was coming. He couldn't help but wonder how the rest of the staff would react to her joining their ranks. Hermione had always been loved by her teachers but none of them had ever had an assistant before.

Hermione was still uncomfortable with the idea of sharing a room with him. He couldn't blame her. Everything was changing fast. He just felt like his life was up in the air.

She would be standing in a room near Minerva's room. It was one of the many extra bedrooms that were in Hogwarts.

Severus was hanging around that room all morning. He had a feeling Hermione would head there as soon as she arrived.

It was nearly ten o'clock before Severus spotted Hermione and Minerva walking towards him.

"Hi," Hermione said letting the trunk float still in the air next to her.

"Well," Minerva said smiling at them. "I'll let you get settled in Hermione. See you later."

Hermione nodded as she watched Minerva walk away.

"Couldn't wait to see me?" Hermione said with a chuckle.

"You know it," he said opening the door for her. "What do you say we go break in your new bed?"

"Let me unpack first," she said walking inside of the room.

She pulled her trunk inside with her. She waved her wand at it and it lowered it's self to the ground. Severus walked inside after her.

"Come on baby," he said pulling her into a hug. "Let's do it."

"I never would have guessed you were so insatiable," she said with a chuckle.

"You haven't seen anything yet," he growled nibbling on her neck.

"Ok," she said. "You win."

Severus led her through a doorway that led to her bedroom. It was pretty bare inside. There was a door leading off to another room, a large bed with green sheets, and a closet.

"I took the liberty of putting sheets on your bed," he said sitting down on the bed. "I figured you wouldn't mind."

"Of course not," she said sitting down next to him.

Severus leaned and planted a soft kiss on her lips. Hermione moaned kissing him back. Something about the way he touched her made her turn into jello. Hermione melted into his touch.

He gently pushed her down onto the bed and climbed on top of her. He planted little kiss down her next.

"Hermione Granger I never thought I'd see as a-" Pomona's voice came.

Severus looked over his shoulder to see a very surprised Pomona standing in the doorway.

"I'm sorry," she said quickly. "The door was open so I just came in. I'll go now."

She quickly hurried out and shut the door behind her. Severus chuckled rolling off of Hermione.

"Well that killed the mood," Hermione said with a sigh.

"All of Britian is going to know about us now," the potions master said. "She has the biggest mouth."

"Do you mind?" she asked in a serious tone.

"No," he said simply. "I don't give a damn what people think."

"I guessed that much," Hermione said. "Well I guess I better do some unpacking before I fall asleep."

"Need any help?" Severus asked.

"No," she said smiling. "I won't get anything done if you hang around."

"I guess you're right," he said getting up from the bed. "I'll see you later."

He gave her a quick kiss before heading out. Hermione sat on the bed smiling to herself. She couldn't believe she was actually happy but she was.
