The Rescue

Chapter Nine - The Rescue

Snape and Fleur left their bags with Tom at the Broomsticks and left the bar.

“Professor, we will first apparate to a place near the Veela land and we will then walk to the location. We can’t apparate directly to the place because of their protection charms. But from there we can disapparate right away,” Fleur said

Snape nodded. Fleur caught his hand and concentrated and both of them disapparated with a crack.

They appeared on a barren land, the sky was gloomy and the air had a stench of fish. That place looked haunted.

“Dear Merlin” Snape breathed. The place totally stunk. He looked around and noticed dead trees and bones of animals. There was not a sight of a living creature around them.

“This is the effect of the Veelas” Fleur whispered to him. “They don’t want to attract much attention you see…”

Snape nodded at her somberly. And both of them began walking towards north.

One would’ve thought it would be difficult to reach their place due to all the wicked spells placed around. But the Veelas worked on a different level. They believe that appearance and emotion was the key to life. They just made the surrounding place look gloomy and dark thinking it would thwart visitors from their purpose.

“Mrs. Weasley, you were kidnapped by the Veelas?” Snape asked breaking the silence while they walked.

“They tried to,” she said.

“I assume it didn’t work out as they planned then…?” Snape asked.

“Of course not! They can’t put another Veela under their charms. The Veelas get along only because of their charms. Otherwise they are horrible creatures. Especially the male Veelas. They look as ugly as shit,” Fleur said.

Snape felt a hitch in his throat. He didn’t want to imagine what was happening to Hermione now. But one thing was for sure. He was going to fry the asses of those Veelas.

“Yes of course! What can you tell about the male Veelas? How do they operate?” Snape asked.

“I am not quite sure. But they mess around with you emotionally,” she said frowning a bit.

“Emotionally?” He pressed.

“I think they hypnotize you. Make you believe things that aren’t true,” she said.

“Oh I see,” Snape replied.

“We’re here” Fleur whispered. “Don’t make any noise.”

“Where? I don’t see anything” Snape replied looking around suspiciously, his wand held out in front of him.

“You will in a minute. Cast a disillusioning spell around us.” Fleur said and Snape cast it quietly.

After a moment, Snape’s jaw dropped in amazement as the barren land in front of them began to ripple and huge caves opened up surrounded by mountains. He could see movement at a distance which he divined it to be other Veelas. Walking towards them, he noticed that there were some Veelas who had their faces and body covered with shawls.

“Those are the male Veelas. You definitely don’t want to see them. The Female Veelas can’t stand the sight of them. That’s why they cover up” Fleur whispered.

Snape cast a silencing spell around them too.

“I thought they would have charmed themselves to look more acceptable,” Snape said.

“Yes they have. But you won’t see their charms because you are with me,” Fleur said and smiled.

“If you say so Mrs. Weasley,” he said.

There was an earth shattering scream from a nearby cave.

Snape and Fleur looked at each other.

“Hermione!” both yelled and ran in that direction. Vaguely Snape realized he had used her first name. Well, that didn’t matter now. Reaching the cave, he noticed Hermione on her knees covering her head with her hands as if trying to shake something off.

“Relax. Hermione. What you see is the truth. You are now a Veela. And you are going to help us survive. That… is your purpose from now on,” Morthan spoke in a hypnotizing tone.

“Shut up you son of a bitch!” Hermione screamed and clutched her head tightly.

Snape could see a silver light emanating from Morthan’s body.

“That bastard is increasing his charms,” Fleur hissed.

Morthan froze and turned and stared straight at the direction of Snape and Fleur. Snape and Fleur froze in their places. Morthan looked absolutely horrible. Like the Hunchback of Nottingam. Except Morthan had an even uglier auror about him. Both of them had their wands drawn out just in case. They were not sure if a pureblood Veela could see through their magic. But After a while, Morthan turned back towards Hermione.

“Eew! He is disgusting!” Fleur said grimacing.

“Open your eyes Hermione, look at this beautiful garden. Don’t you want to make love with me right here? Think about last night Hermione. How good we made you feel…” Morthan asked, his voice flowing like silk. Apparently only the voice was the only thing that was good in them.

“Fuck you! There was no last night you mind fucker! It was all an illusion!” Hermione screamed.

“What is she saying?” Snape asked confused.

“Exactly what she is saying” Fleur retorted.

Morthan walked closer to her and swooped low and licked her ears as an effort to arouse her. But Hermione gagged and vomited.

“EEww!!! You STINK!! Get away from me!” Hermione yelled at him.

“Their charms are not working on her. We better take her now Professor. Stun them all. We will disapparate with her,” Fleur urged.

Snape cast a stunner at Morthan who fell with a yell on top of Hermione. She pushed him off and looked wildly as she didn’t see or hear anything.

“Hermione!” Fleur screamed running to Hermione and dragging Snape with her.

She hugged the witch tightly with one arm.

Hermione struggled with the invisible figure, and managed to deliver a few blows onto her thinking it to be another Veela trick.

Snape immediately removed the silencing spell and the disillusioning spell.

“Stop it Miss Granger. We are here to help you,” he hissed.

Hermione let go of Fleur in a shock and stared at Snape.

“All right. We leave now,” he said and came forward and caught Hermione’s and Fleur’s hand and all three of them disapparated right into his bedroom.
