Chapter Nine
(Sorry it’s taken so long, I have up to chapter 19 written roughly on paper, and I need to edit some chapters in-between nine and that a LOT, to the point where the story is going to change a bit when it comes to later chapters. I have been trying to write chapter 20 without editing the rest of them… not a good thing. Haha)
“Where were you last night? Didn’t I say I would wait up for you? Then I go to McGonagall and she has this conversation in the fire with Snape, I can’t hear anything. And she looks back at me like she angry with me and so I start trying to explain! After everything she tells me she wants to talk with me during lunch break tomorrow!”
“I don’t know about all of that, but I didn’t want to see you last night. At all. So I found somewhere else to sleep. Simple.”
“Where? With who!” Suddenly Ron was even more angry.
“Where I felt SAFE Ron, and I didn’t ‘sleep with’ anyone,” she said, matching his anger. Furious that after what he did he would accuse her of having sex with someone.
“Then why not come to my room where you normally sleep,” his frown softened slightly, but he still didn’t look like Ron. He looked like some angry, obsessed, insane Ron.
“I feel perfectly safe in your _room_ Ron, I just don’t feel safe with you anymore,” She said, looking up at him, her eyes looking straight into his, her voice getting stronger with every word. “Now move and let me go up to my room. Now,” she said as she tried to brush past him.
He grabbed her shoulders harshly and pulled her closer to him, looking down at her as though trying to show his power, “And why, Liz, don’t you feel safe with me? Your boyfriend!”
“Ron! Just let me go upstairs!”
“Lizzy! I don’t understand any of this!” Ron half yelled, half whined.
“We are over Ron! You are not my boyfriend! You tried to rape me! You WOULD have raped me if Snape hadn’t heard me screaming and come running. You would have raped me! How do you not understand THAT?”
Ron let go of her and took a shocked step back, “I… no… your breaking up with me because we almost had sex. Your being crazy. That wasn’t rape at all, you know I wouldn’t ever rape you…”
“No Ron! I was fucking SCREAMING for you to stop. You didn’t!”
Ron, who looked as though every possible emotion was flowing threw him at one time and he was about to explode. He brushed past her quickly and walked up the staircase thinking, ‘At least no one will believe her, I mean, the thought of a Gryffindor, a Weasley Gryffindor, a Weasley Gryffindor who is best friends with Harry Potter raping someone… it’s absurd. It’s absurd because it didn’t happen. Of course, she is obviously cheating on you and she wants everyone on her side- so she led me on and then screamed when she heard Snape and claimed rape to get everyone on her side. Because she knows that everyone likes me better. That’s it. She cheated on you and is trying to turn everyone at Hogwarts against you! That bitch! I’ll just have to get to everyone first with a more believable story…’ Ron planned in his head until he fell asleep, so consumed with the lie that he blocked out all thought of him actually trying to rape Elizabeth.
Meanwhile, Elizabeth went up her staircase, tears forming in her eyes and she got into the shower and turned the temperature dial to the hottest it could be. She undressed and got in.
Forty minutes later she turned off the water and pushed the curtain aside. She had been crying the entire time and she grabbed a towel and caught a glimpse of herself in the unfoggy mirror. Hogwarts just worked like that, you could take the longest, hottest shower and the mirrors would be as clear as ever when you got out.
When she saw herself, she let out a small gasp. Her skin was a dark shade of pink, some parts of herself looked like she had gotten a very bad rug burn and were emitting small bits of blood. She hadn’t realized she had been scrubbing her body that hard with the washcloth, she just wanted to get the feeling of Ron’s touch off of her.
She walked closer to the mirror and realized how strange her eyes looked. The whites of her eyes had turned red from crying so much, which looked very weird next to her icy blue eyes- making them look even lighter.
Her hair dripped on the ground, looking much longer then when it was dry. The water pulling it straight rather then the normal wavy brown. She waved her wand and it was dried straight; a spell that her friend Becky, who had graduated the year before, had taught her.
She then put on a little bit of makeup, and then took it off. Realizing that she didn’t feel like looking pretty. She then took a hair tie and put her hair up in a messy bun.
She then looked at herself in the mirror and shrugged her shoulders and walked out into her room. She got out her school uniform and put it on, buttoning the shirt to her neck, and let her skirt fall all the way down to her knees; instead of magically hemming it.
Elizabeth didn’t look at herself again like she normally did, and she walked down the stairs. Right past the trio, who were walking by one of the fires in hushed voices. She didn’t even notice Lavender and Parvati looking at her strangely.
She hoisted her bag more on her shoulder, and started to head to the Great Hall and realized that she wasn’t hungry at all. So she started to just walk around the school, waiting for the bell to ring.
She looked at her watch and realized that the bell wasn’t going to ring for another forty-five minutes so she sat herself down in a corner and straightened her backpack up and found her sketchpad. She hadn’t had time to draw since before Ron and her started to date. So she pulled it out and a drawing pencil and started to draw a random person. But the more she worked on it, the more it ended up looking like Professor Snape.
After about a half an hour she looked down at a perfect replica of her potions professor. Any student at Hogwarts could have looked at it and known who it was in a couple of seconds.
“Draven, what are you doing without Weasel attached to your lips?” said the pompous Draco Malfoy, who was without Crabbe and Goyle- or any girls- for once.
Elizabeth in turn tucked her sketchpad in her bag and rolled her eyes. “I happen to be an individual person Malfoy. Plus, I’m not always with R… him,” she mumbled the last part.
“It has not been common this year to see you two apart,” Malfoy commented, smirking at her comment, “and when I said ‘not common’, I mean never. Then again, I’ve heard whisperings that there is a reason for that.”
“Just sought off Malfoy,” she said, turning her eyes away from him.
He didn’t go though, continuing to look down at her with an even more annoying smirk on his face, “Weasel broke you heard then, huh?”
“In a manor of speaking,” she stood, and started to walk away from him.
He placed a hand on her shoulder, not painfully, but still hard enough that she wouldn’t move.
“What are you doing Malfoy?”
“Shhhhh,” he whispered in her ear and moved closer to her.
Elizabeth frowned deeply, “Get away from me now,” she commanded.
“I don’t believe I will Draven,” he told her, his voice soft and yet smug in her ear.
Elizabeth pulled away from his hand, spun around to face him, and took a couple of steps back. She looked at him, it was almost annoying how good looking he was. His blonde hair falling over his piercing silver eyes. His face angelic, but handsome. And his body………
She shook her head from those thoughts with the simple reminder that he was one of the biggest asses she knew. She slapped his hand away when he tried to move a piece of her hair, which had fallen out of her ponytail, behind her ear
“You know, I’ve had an interest in you since 5th year. And now that you’ve gotten some experience with Weasel, I can show you what a real man is like…”
“Stop it now!”
“No,”
Elizabeth groaned, ‘yet another guy who was never taught what the word ‘stop’ was’. She then slapped him hard across the face just as the bell rang.
“Aww come on Draven, your not being any fun at all!” he called after her.
“I’m not here for your amusement Malfoy,” she called over her shoulder and went to Charms class and sat down.
They had a pop quiz, and she could barley concentrate.
---
When the bell rang for lunch to begin, Elizabeth rushed out of the classroom and was one of the first to the Great Hall and picked a random seat and sat down. She got a pumpkin juice and sipped on it.
No one sat around her as the hall filled up, no one said hi, no one asked why she looked so depressed. The only kind eyes towards her were Snape’s.
Elizabeth noticed none of this.
The normal few owls that came to late to deliver during breakfast came into the hall and started to drop letters and packages. One of them dropped a letter on her desk. It was a small dark tan envelope that was made of heavy expensive looking paper. It was sealed with green candle wax, that had a large “S’ sealed in it.
Elizabeth frowned and opened the letter with one of the knives on the table.
She frowned and tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear. She pulled a small card out of the envelope. It was on the same paper and written in dark green.
---Look Inside This Envelope---
She did as she was told and saw a button, like something that had fallen off a jacket and dumped it into her left hand.
A first year that had been sitting a foot or so down from her gasped as Elizabeth vanished from the table.
