Draco's Alliance

When Draco found Hermione later, it was as he expected. She was upset over Ron’s reaction. She felt that after all this time he should want her to be happy, even if it was with Malfoy. She certainly never expected it, but it felt real. Draco watched her pace back and forth. He wanted to tell her that he went to Dumbledore, but he felt it wasn’t the right time. He was also puzzled about how the child was important. Dumbledore had left his mind wandering in many directions. Draco finally convinced her that Ron would come around, eventually and she stopped pacing and sat on their sofa.

Later, after Hermione had gone to sleep, Draco took some floo powder that he had hidden from Hermione, and used it to go to the Malfoy Manor. Once he had popped through the fireplace he looked up into the expecting eyes of his father.

His father smiled evilly and asked, “So it is finished then, son?”

Draco smirked back at him and said, “It’s all going according to the plan.

replied, “So are you ready to have a visit with our lord?”

“Of course, I have been waiting to deliver this news to him all year, since he gave me this assignment,” replied Draco.

Then both father and son joined hands and apparated into the secret manor that was currently occupied by Lord Voldemort.

When they reached the manor, they were let in by Peter Pettigrew, or Wormtail as some called him. Lucius had never particularly cared for the man; however he exchanged pleasantries with him. Wormtail led them into the parlor that was decorated in silver and green, the colors of Salazar Slytherin himself.

Naturally this was a color scheme of most of the pureblood families that had also shared his house. When they entered the room, Draco looked to the green velvet couch which directed his attention to the bright red eyes of Voldemort himself.

“Welcome my esteemed servants. I trust you brought good news for me,” Voldemort hissed.

Draco looked proudly and answered, “I did as you asked my lord, I made the mudblood fall in love with me, and she is now carrying my child.”

“This is the wonderful news that we have been waiting for; you shall earn a great reward for completing this task that I asked of you,” Voldemort stated.

“Lucius, I had my doubts about your son, but no longer. He shall be included in my inner circle of followers, and so shall you as you have redeemed yourself to me.”

“Thank you my lord,” answered Lucius, as he bowed graciously.

“That is all now, I have much to think about, you may go,” answered the dark lord.

Lucius and Draco were ushered outside by Wormtail, and then they apparated back to Malfoy Manor.

When they arrived back in their own study, Draco asked his father, “Father, what am I to do now. Do I still have to pretend to love the filthy mudblood? Should I have told him that I spoke to Dumbledore?”

Lucius thought a moment and replied, “Draco, you must continue to act the way you have been. Our lord will inform us if anything should change. I will take care to mention that you spoke to Dumbledore when I next see him. In the meantime, go back to Hogwarts, and continue to remain attentive to Miss Granger. This child seems to be important to Lord Voldemort, so you must also protect the child at all costs.”

Draco nodded at his father and went back to the fireplace. He used floo powder and returned to their common room. He looked in Hermione’s room and she was sleeping peacefully with her hand on her stomach. He got in on the other end of the bed, so that she would have not noticed that he was missing, and he went to sleep.
