Change Your Mind
Hey, Hey
Did you ever think
There might be another way
To just feel better,
Just feel better about today
Oh no-
If you never want to have
To turn and go away
You might feel better,
Might feel better if you stay
Yeah yeah
I bet you haven't heard
A word I've said
Yeah yeah
If you've had enough
Of all your tryin'
Just give up
The state of mind you're in:
If you want to be somebody else,
If you're tired of fighting battles with yourself
If you want to be somebody else
Change your mind...
(Sister Hazel-Change Your Mind)
At Grimmauld Place, the boys, George and Fred, threw him a wild party filled with drunken debauchery. Fred and George were dancing on a table while the other Weasley brothers, Bill and Percy, yes, Percy tried to pull them down, but to no avail. Harry and Ron were both in foul moods. Ron was moping around, not really able to enjoy the liquor and Harry, was worried about Hermione.
Lupin saw Harry and pulled him into the library. Harry remembered that Christmas two years ago and smiled.
“Now that is the first simile you’ve cracked since you came here,” the werewolf remarked.
“Oh. What?” Harry snapped out of his thoughts.
“What’s wrong Harry? I know I’m not Sirius, but you can talk to me.” He sat on the large couch by the fireplace. Harry padded next to him.
“Nothing’s wrong other than everything.” he said quietly.
“What happened?” Lupin inquired.
“I’m in love with Hermione,” he blurted out. He didn’t mean to do it. He didn’t know if the fire whisky got to him or it was just the burden of wanting to talk to someone that made in say that.
Lupin was not surprised. He, in his heart and along with everyone who knew them, had always believed that it would be Harry and Hermione. He was a little surprised when he had proposed to the youngest Weasley.
The Marauder merely nodded. “I suspected as much.” He patted Harry’s back. “Then why are you marrying Ms. Weasley?”
“She’s pregnant.” he had tears flowing down his face.
Harry was only nineteen, just a teenager. In the Muggle world, he would be at the university studying to be whatever he wanted to be. He would be getting sloshed, but no. That’ snot the way the Magical world worked. After magic school, witches and wizards had certain responsibilities. Most got married.
‘Nineteen is too young for marriage. He’s just a boy.’ Lupin thought. “I’m sorry Harry.” he pulled him into a hug and Harry sobbed on his shoulder.
After several minutes, he took Harry back to the party. They ran into Fred and George. “Where’d you go? Lupin giving you tips on what to do on the honeymoon?” they slurred.
“Something like that, boys.” Lupin pushed Harry through the crowd.
It was a sea of familiar faces. There were old classmates, Aurors, Order members, and even Mad-Eye Moody. Harry didn’t want to be there. He wanted to be with Hermione. Ron pulled him out of the crowd . They went out for some fresh air.
They sat on the front steps. “So, Professor Lupin knows?”Harry just nodded. “Yeah, ok. So how’s Herms?” The air was cool and crisp. It was a welcomed change from the mugginess inside.
“Nev went to check on her.”
“Hmph. Still, best if we check in on her?” Ron suggested.
Harry didn’t say anything for a while. Then finally, he turned to his best-man and brother of his future bide, “I can’t do it,” he whispered. His voice broke and was refusing to cry.
Ron didn’t know what to say. “That’s up to you mate. I don’t know what to tell you.” He patted him on his back. Ron just smiled sadly at Harry.
“Yeah. Thanks for your help mate.” Harry said sarcastically.
“No problem. I know nothing.” Ron let his hands up.
They slowly made their way inside.
