The Final Battle

Author’s Note:

Thank you for your wonderful reviews. This next chapter describes the final battle against Voldemort and his Death Eaters. I’m sure you’re all wondering if Severus has indeed decided to switch sides. Is it a set up, or was he telling the truth, and what was the deal with that kiss? He’s sure full of himself, isn’t he? Slytherin arrogance…you’ve just gotta love it.

Now for clashing swords and angry hordes!

Enjoy.

Amelia

Randi carefully placed several throwing stars and poisoned darts into the pockets in the front of her denim jacket, and then picked up a light, Japanese sword that sat on the table in front of her. As she sheathed the sword, she cleared her throat to get everyone’s attention. “Alright, people, listen up! According to Severus, the ground at the mill is very muddy. We’ve had quite a bit of rain over the past couple of days, so watch your footing.” She then turned her attention to a map of the area that lay opened on the table. Pointing, she gave her instructions, “I’ll take out the two guards with poisoned darts. Group A will subdue them and take them into custody. I’ll go in first and use a freezing spell I know on Voldemort and his badly dressed flunkies” This line got smirks from some of the Aurors. Randi paused, then continued, “Since it’s a rather large group, I doubt if the spell will last very long, so as soon as you see them able to move again, I want you all to charge in. Group B, your job is to surround Mr. Potter so that no one can distract him from doing his job. Group C, you’ll help me take care of the rest of them. If things go badly, or if something happens to me, do whatever the Minister tells you. These men will be armed with wands and swords at the very least. If there are women present, I expect you to treat them no differently than you would the men. From what I’ve been told, they’re equally as vicious. Are there any questions?”

A young Auror slipped his hand up and nervously asked, “Yes, Ma’am. Who exactly are you, and why are you leading this raid?”

Randi flashed the Minister and Severus a knowing smile, and then looked back at the Auror darkly. “Tonight, I’m vengeance. If there’s nothing else, let’s get this done. Good luck to you all.”

The Aurors began to apparate out of the room to just outside the mill’s grounds. Severus came over to her, holding a very wicked looking kitana in his hand. “So now you’re vengeance, and you call me arrogant!” he smirked.

She gave him a sinister look and replied, “Fuck you, Severus.”

“Now now, dear, business first, pleasure later.” He taunted then apparated away with a pop.

When everyone was assembled, they split into their groups and Randi cast a soundproofing spell on them. Severus gave the Aurors each a bottle of strength and stamina potion, then handed one to Randi before drinking one himself. They slowly made their way around the mill to the back. The two guards were standing on opposite sides of an opening in the tree line.

“Damnit!” Randi cursed softly as she retrieved two darts from her pocket, “They’re too far apart.”

Severus immediately took one of the darts out of her hand and whispered, “I’ll take the one on the left. On the count of three, alright.”

Randi nodded and aimed her dart carefully at the neck of the guard on the right. Softly she counted down, “One…two…three!”

The darts went whizzing through the air then hit their marks. The two guards collapsed into unconsciousness, causing Randi to breath a sigh of relief.

“You can thank me later.” Severus smirked.

She gave him an irritated look then waved her hand at the others, “Let’s move!”

Everyone rushed as quickly as they could towards the tree line, being careful of the mud as they ran. They all stopped at the tree line and four Aurors grabbed up the two fallen guards and apparated away with them. Randi took a deep breath and focused as hard as she could, imagining everyone in her sight going rigid.

Voldemort sat in a chair, looking at the campfire nervously. It wasn’t like Severus to be late for a meeting. What could be keeping him? He’d told him the location last week. Was something wrong that he wasn’t privy to? Suddenly he saw a dark figure walking towards him. He squinted to make out who it was. No, it wasn’t Severus. He was taller than this figure. Everyone else had arrived already. Who was this walking into his meeting, an unsuspecting muggle?

Slowly the light of the full moon and the campfire brought the slow-moving figure into view. Suddenly, the figure shouted out something and began to move more quickly towards him. He tried to draw his wand, but found that his limbs were no useless. He couldn’t move anything, not even his head. The men he could see around him were also immobilized.

Randi approached Voldemort with a dangerous gleam in her eyes. “Having a little party, are we? Well, I hate to break it to you, but I’m afraid it’s going to be your last.”

She drew her sword with her right hand and bent down to Voldemort. “You’re going to die tonight, you son of a bitch! My only regret is that I won’t get to do you in myself, you mangy, pathetic, poor excuse of a wizard!”

Voldemort sat there stunned. Randi looked at Bellatrix LeStrange, who was standing beside his chair to the left then smacked her hard on the face with her free hand. “And you, you miserable little bitch, you stand by and watch what these men do to your fellow women? I’m afraid I’ll have to kill you first just on principle.”

Suddenly, Voldemort’s arm began to twitch. Randi signaled for the rest of the group to come in and said, “I don’t think so, little man.”

With that, she thrust her sword into Bellatrix’s midsection and made an upward cut. The Witch made no sound as she fell dead upon the ground. Group B surrounded Harry while Group C went around them to trap the rest of the Death Eaters. As the men regained their movement, the fighting began. Hexes began to fly everywhere and swords started to clash. Randi backed up a couple of steps and glared at the masked wizard on the other side of Voldemort’s chair. “Come get me, if you’ve got the guts!”

The man drew his wand and yelled, “Cruxio!”

At the same time, Randi conjured a sphere of white light that surrounded her like a bubble. It didn’t stop the curse, but it slowed it down enough so that it fell unused in front of her, the ground soaking up its energy.

She stared at the wizard’s eyes and extended her free hand.

“Randi, behind you!” she heard Severus’s voice yell from a distance.

Immediately she dropped down and swung her foot around to trip the Death Eater that had snuck up behind her. The first wizard muttered, “You filthy mudblood!” then came rushing at her. She jumped onto the back of the wizard she had just tripped and did a hard front kick to the first wizard’s chin, stunning him but not knocking him off his feet. “Lie still if you know what’s good for you!” she hissed at the wizard who was on the ground beneath her, before jumping off of him and taking a swing at the first wizard’s head with her sword. The man stepped back and clutched his throat as the blood poured from it.

Voldemort raised his wand and yelled, “Avada…”

Before he could finish the killing curse, Group B reached him and made an opening to let Harry out. Randi wanted to watch him, but two more Death Eaters she could hear coming up from behind her quickly took her attention away. The Aurors in Group B, stayed close to Harry, and fired hexes from their wands to keep the Death Eaters away.

She turned and ran towards the three Death Eaters, who now had their wands aimed at her. There was no way she was going to go for the one in the middle. That would then leave her open from attack on both sides from the other two. She decided to take out the one of the left, and luckily, the Minister ran up, fangs bared, and began to fight the one on the right. Her sword cut off the Death Eater’s arm, and he screamed in agony. She made a final thrust to his throat then quickly turned toward the one that had been in the middle.

Out of the corner of her eye, she could see Severus engaged in a heated swordfight with a blonde wizard. “You filthy traitor!” The wizard hissed, “I’m going to enjoy killing you!”

“I don’t think so, Lucius!” Severus grunted as they each pushed their swords against the others, “You’ve never been able to beat me on your best day.”

Randi groaned in annoyance at their typically male power play, then swung at the remaining Death Eater with her sword. He jumped back, just missing the edge of the blade, but the Minister quickly grabbed him. A wicked smile came to her lips as she watched the vampire pull the Death Eater’s head back then bites his neck viciously.

The rest of the battle was intense. She fought her way over to Severus who had just finished driving his sword into the blonde wizard’s chest. She stared down at the now dead wizard and shrugged. “Too bad. He was pretty.”

Severus rolled his eyes then turned his attention towards two Death Eaters coming up on his right, with wands drawn. Randi lifted her hand towards them and yelled, “Expelliamus!”

Suddenly the wizard she had aimed the spell at was knocked back by a burst of energy that came out of her hand. She rushed at him and quickly dove to the ground to grab the wand he had dropped. He kicked her in the side hard. She winced, then brought up her sword and thrust it up into his groin. Severus quickly slashed through the other Death Eater’s midsection then thrust the sword into his abdomen. He then looked at what Randi had done and shook his head, “Remind me to stay on your good side, will you?”

“I never said you were there to begin with.” She teased, and then ran back over to help the Minister, who had three Death Eaters on him. One of the Aurors rushed over to help them.

“I wouldn’t do that if I were you.” She said darkly. The three men turned around and after a moment of hesitation, dropped their wands. The Auror kept his wand on them as she and the Minister ridded the men of their weapons. Three more Aurors ran over and took the men into custody.

She glanced at Harry and Voldemort. The group of Aurors now surrounded both of them in a circle, facing away from them. Her attention was quickly taken away by a sharp, stabbing pain in her side. She dropped to her knees and began to vomit violently. Severus saw that she had been hexed and ran over to her. “Damn!”

“Stay with her, Severus.” The Minister ordered, and then followed the Auror towards the Death Eater who had thrown the hex.

Severus placed a comforting hand on her shoulder and caught his breath. “Stay still. You’ve been hexed. We need to get you to the hospital.

Randi was unable to speak for the vomiting, but she could hear a young voice scream in the background, “Justitia Deorum!” It was shortly followed by a shriek of terror. She felt like hell, but she could tell their mission had been accomplished. Lord Voldemort was dead.
