Chapter Nine
“So What Now?”
Harry groaned as he finally returned to consciousness. His head hurt and his mind was groggy. The feel of a slight breeze brought all the memories crashing back. Pictures of Draco running behind him as they raced through the corridors, the wind tearing apart the hospital wing, Dumbledore and Madame Pomfrey shouting to them, Draco helping him reign in his magic, and....Oh My God! DRACO’S PREGNANT!
At that thought, his eyes snapped open and he bolted up in his bed. Unfortunately for Harry, that sent the blood rushing to his head. His eyes blurred at the pain and he slumped back down, his mind still going a mile a minute. He couldn’t believe what was happening. Draco was pregnant. ‘How the hell is that even possible?’ he thought. ‘It’s not like he has the anatomy to bear children.’
Harry sighed in frustration and once again tried sitting up, this time at a much slower pace. It wasn’t until he sat up did he finally notice the room he was in. The simplest way to describe it was...amazing. The walls were a pale blue color, but running through that blue were several different shades of darker blue. The spirals of the darker blue kept moving over the walls. The carpet was a dark midnight blue, and the ceiling, like the one in the Great Hall, had been charmed to show the weather outside. Harry himself was sitting in the middle of a large four poster bed. Like the carpet, the hangings and the comforter were a dark blue.
“Where in Merlin’s name am I?” Harry asked, eyeing his surroundings. “And where the hell is Draco?”
Pushing aside the covers, he slipped out of bed, his feet sinking into the plush carpet. Grabbing his cloak that was laying over the edge of a chair, he headed for the door, but stopped just before it. There was no door handle. He could clearly see the outline of the door but there was no door handle.
With a look of bewilderment, he reached out and placed his hand on the door. To his surprise, the colors on the door began to swirl at an increasingly faster pace. Stepping back, he watched as a small hole appeared before him, gradually growing bigger until it was big enough to let him pass through. Stepping through the wall, he found himself standing in a familiar looking room.
“Harry!” Ron cried, jumping up off the couch. “What happened? Are you alright?”
Harry was about to answer when Hermione’s voice cut him off.
“Of course he isn’t alright.” she sighed, coming through a door to Harry’s left. “He just came into his power and he’s been out for over a day.”
“A day?” Harry gasped. “It’s been a day?”
Hermione nodded.
“Where’s Draco?” Harry asked, slightly worried that he hadn’t seen or heard from him yet.
“He’s in that room over there.” Hermione replied, pointing to Harry’s right. “He hasn’t woken yet.”
Without another word, Harry headed in that direction.
“Um...Harry, I wouldn’t do that if I were you.” Ron called out, wincing as he continued to watch Harry walk in Draco’s direction. He knew what was coming.
“Why n...OW!” Harry cried out, rubbing his forehead. Instead of reaching the door, he had walked head first into a rather powerful barrier.
“That’s why.”
“Why is there a barrier here?” Harry asked, turning back to Hermione.
“It’s because of our magic, Harry. At the moment, none of us can stabilize our magic.” she explained. “The room has been divided up into four parts and each one of the parts belongs to one of us. I can’t leave my area, just as Ron can’t leave his.”
“Damn it.” Harry yelled in frustration. “I need to see Draco. I need to see if he is alright.”
“A little shocked, but other than that I’m fine.”
Harry spun around at the sound of his boyfriend’s voice. “Draco!”
Draco smiled and headed for Harry.
“No, Draco!”
BAM!
Harry winced as Draco rubbed his forehead.
“What the hell was that?” he cursed, glaring at the space preventing him from getting to Harry.
“Barrier.” three voices chorused.
“Oh wonderful.” Draco yelled. “First I’m pregnant, and now I’m a prisoner!”
“You\'re...what?” Ron gasped, causing Draco to blush. He hadn’t meant to let the cat out of the bag yet.
Draco sent Harry an apologetic smile. “Sorry.”
“They were bound to find out anyway.” Harry replied, sitting down in one of the armchairs in his section of the room. “Are you sure you’re alright, Draco?”
“Yeah.”
“Hello!” Ron shouted. “Could someone kindly tell me what the hell is going on?”
“Draco’s pregnant.”
For a second time in five minutes, Ron gasped.
“What? He’s a guy! Guy’s can’t get pregnant!”
“Honestly Ronald, you’ve lived in the Magical world all your life and you didn’t know about male pregnancies?” Hermione scoffed. “Given, they don’t happen very often, but they do happen every once in a while, mostly with powerful wizards.”
“Well excuse me Hermione!” Ron replied. “I have never seen a pregnant wizard.”
“Well you’re about to.” Draco interjected, tired of being talked about as though he weren’t in the room. “And could we please stop discussing this. We have more important things to the discuss than my health.”
Harry sent him a glare. “Nothing is as important as your health, Draco, and I wish you would stop acting like there is. I thought we had discussed this in the hospital wing. Besides, there’s more than just you to worry about now.”
Draco slumped down into one of his own armchairs. “I know. I’m sorry.”
Before anything else could be said, another door appeared on the far side of the room and Dumbledore stepped through. “Good evening gentlemen, Ms. Granger.”
“Hello Professor.” they greeted as a whole.
“I suppose you are all wondering what is going on?” Dumbledore smiled, taking in the nods of everyone in the room. “Before I am able to explain, I need the four of you to concentrate and reign in your powers to the best of your ability. I believe you, Mr. Potter, have already accomplished this once.”
Nodding, Harry quickly reigned in his magic so that it was no longer affecting his surroundings. He watched as Hermione and Draco reigned in their magic rather quickly. Ron, on the other hand, took a bit longer to get the hang of it.
Once everyone finished, Dumbledore removed the barrier. The moment he could, Harry made his way over to Draco and wrapped his arms around him. “I missed you.” he whispered in the blonde’s ear.
Draco smiled and kissed him gently. “I’m fine, Harry.”
“I know.” Harry chuckled. “I can’t help but worry about you.”
Dumbledore cleared his throat, effectively interrupting the moment. “Follow me.”
With that, he left the room, leaving the four students to follow him. They moved down the corridors, getting curious looks from the students they passed. When they reached the fourth floor, Dumbledore stopped in front of a statue of Rowena Ravenclaw. “Gummy worms.”
Draco raised an eyebrow at the password, but entered nonetheless.
Upon entering, Harry and the others found themselves in a rather large training room. Draco and Harry immediately went over to the far wall, where several different swords and daggers were lining the wall. Hermione, naturally, headed over to the wall lined with rows upon rows of books and Ron simply stood and stared around the room, taking in everything.
Once again, Dumbledore broke the silence. “This is where you will be training your new powers. Due to the increase in your magic, you will have to learn how to use that magic in your spell work.”
“With all due respect Professor, why do we suddenly have these increases in magic?” Hermione asked, joining the Headmaster and her boyfriend. Harry and Draco joined the group moments after.
“Have any of you ever heard of elementals?”
Strangely enough, it wasn’t Hermione who answered, but Draco. “Elementals are a myth.” he scoffed. “They aren’t real.”
“I beg to differ, Mr. Malfoy.” Dumbledore chuckled. “Elementals are real. The four of you are the first elementals in over a thousand years.”
The four students stood in shock, staring at the Headmaster with their mouths hanging open. Finally, Draco regained his senses. “Pull the other one, it’s got bells on!”
“I am not pulling your leg, Mr. Malfoy” Dumbledore replied. “Tell me, when your powers surfaced, what happened?”
“It started raining.”
“And you Harry?”
“I created a whirlwind.” Harry replied, his mind kicking into over drive. “Wind and Water.”
“Precisely.” Dumbledore smiled, his eyes twinkling like crazy. “What happened when you received your powers, Ms. Granger?”
“I started growing plants on all the surfaces I touched.”
“And you, Mr. Weasley?”
“Everything I touched started started burning.”
“Earth and Fire.” Harry said, rubbing his forehead. “Alright, so what does that mean?”
“All wizards pull their magic from an element. Most of us pull our magic from the lesser elements, such as lightening, metal, and thunder. The reaso is that the four main elements, Wind, Fire, Earth and Water, are far too powerful for an average wizard to control, but every once in awhile four wizards are born with the ability to control this magic. The only set back to this problem is that the four wizards are connected. Their magic balances each other. One cannot exist with the others.”
“Meaning that if one of us dies, then we all die.” Draco stated.
“Exactly.”
Harry paled and laced his fingers with Draco’s. He would have to face Voldemort sooner or later and if he died, then he would be responsible for the death of his love and his two best friends.
Draco squeezed Harry’s hand reassuringly.
Noticing the tension that was starting to build, Dumbledore continued. “That is the reason that you are here. Every day after lessons, you will report here for training until you can successfully handle your magic. Of course, you will have the weekend free of training. I wouldn’t block up your entire week.”
Ron gaped at the professor. He wasn’t one for studying and now he had extra lessons everyday after class. Noticing Ron’s expression, Draco nudged Harry and nodded in the red-head\'s direction. When Harry caught sight of the horrified expression, he burst out into a fit of laughter, followed quickly by Draco. Hermione, finally catching on, began to giggle.
“What?” Ron asked, looking at his friends as though they had grown extra heads.
“You look like a fish out of water.” Hermione giggled.
“Well what do you expect? I’m not one for extra studying.” Ron pouted.
“I can assure you, Mr. Weasley, that it will not be the studying that you are used to.” Dumbledore chuckled. “This will be much more complicated. You will not be using a wand and will have to harness your raw magic in order to succeed.”
“Raw magic? Without a wand?”
“Yes, Mr. Weasley, raw magic.” Dumbledore replied. “And seeing as you are so interested, you may as well go first.”
Draco, Harry and Hermione chuckled at the shell shocked look on Ron’s face.
“Now please go stand in the middle of the room, while I cast a protection charm around the objects in the room and the rest of us.” Dumbledore instructed.
Ron moved into the center of the room as though he was walking towards his own death. Dumbledore quickly cast several spells around the room and those standing along the sidelines. Once that was complete, Dumbledore turned back to Ron.
“Alright, Mr. Weasley. The first thing I want you to do is release all barriers keeping your magic reigned in.”
Ron paled slightly, but did as he was asked. At first, it seemed as though nothing was happening, but as they waited, the temperature in the room gradually increased until you could see the heat rising into the air. Thankfully, Harry and the others remained at a comfortable temperature, thanks to Dumbledore’s charms.
“Excellent, Mr. Weasley.” Dumbledore praised. “Now I want you to concentrate on your magic. Once you have a good grasp on your magic, I want you to use it.” At Ron’s confused look, the headmaster continued. “You don’t have to say a spell or use a wand, Mr. Weasley. All you have to do is focus on the magic and bend it to your will.”
Draco raised an eyebrow and leaned in to Harry. “Is that all?” he asked, sarcastically. Harry chuckled, his eyes still focused on Ron.
It took several minutes before Ron was able to get a good grasp on his magic. Sensing a small clump of raw magic, the red-head reached out with his mind and began to poke and prod at it, not really sure as to what he was doing.
The others watched in shocked silence as flames began to dance around the Gryffindor, licking at his thighs. Ron raised his arm, staring in wonder at what he was creating. As his arms lifted, the flame rose higher and twirled its way around his arm. Opening his hand and raising his palm to the sky caused a small ball of flame to grow in his hand, gradually doubling in size.
Dumbledore quickly conjured a large target and placed it on the opposite end of the room from Ron. “Alright, Mr. Weasley. I want you to attack the target.”
Nodding, Ron brought his arm down and stretched it out in front of him, his palm aiming at the fire ball. All he had to do was flex his finger and the ball of fire erupted from his hand and hit the target, engulfing it in flames. Harry, Draco, Hermione and Dumbledore had to shield their eyes from the light the attack created. When they were able to look back, the only thing that remained of the target was a small pile of ashes on the floor. They stood there staring with their jaws hanging open.
“Well, Mr. Weasley, I must say congratulations. Perfect form.” Dumbledore smiled. “You may join Harry and Draco over on the far wall. Ms. Granger, if you don’t mind, would you please take Ron’s place on the floor?”
Ron joined Harry and Draco, while Hermione took her place.
“Alright, Ms. Granger, I want you to do the exact same thing that Mr. Weasley just did. Grasp your magic and bend it to your will.”
Taking a deep breath, Hermione calmed herself and reached out for her magic, releasing it from the barriers. Almost instantly, the room went from sweltering hot to the humid climate of a rain forest. Grass and moss began to sweep across the floor, completely covering the room with a living carpet.
Concentrating on her magic, she raised her arms into the air. Upon doing so, several large roots sprang from the ground. Much to the surprise of the others in the room, her eyes began to glow a pale blue color. When she brought her hands down, the roots shot forwards at a tremendous speed, wrapped themselves around the new target and crushed it.
“Excellent, Ms. Granger.” Dumbledore applauded, casting another charm to create a new target. “Mr. Malfoy, if you please?”
Draco nodded and headed to the center of the room, directly opposite his new target. Closing his eyes, he began to concentrate on his magic, allowing it to break free of the barriers. Just as Hermione’s had, his eyes began to glow a piercing blue. As he concentrated, water began flooding into the room, surrounding and crashing against the blonde\'s knees. Lifting one hand in the air, the water began churning at a faster pace, rising up behind him into a huge tidal wave. Draco locked his eyes on the target and released the water. The huge wave rushed forth with a roar, hitting the target with enough force to shatter it into splinters.
“Well done, Mr. Malfoy.” Dumbledore grinned. “And finally, Mr. Potter.”
Draco returned to his seat with a smug smile, sending Harry a wink. Rolling his eyes at the blonde, Harry took his position on the floor.
“You know what to do, Mr. Potter.” Dumbledore said, setting up another target.
Harry nodded and allowed his magic to break past his barriers, flowing out into the room. The moment his barriers fell, the wind picked up drastically. Like the previous two, Harry’s eyes began to glow a brilliant blue, the only difference was that he had dark green swirling around among the blue.
B
Bringing his hands up in front of his chest, Harry focused his power. With a twist of his wrist, he caused the wind circling around him to form into a cyclone. Repeating the action with the other hand, Harry split the cyclone into two. The others watched wide-eyed as Harry stood between two large cyclones, his eyes glowing. Thrusting his left hand out in front of him, he sent the first cyclone at the target. The wind immediately picked up the target and flung it around the room. When he thrust out his other hand, the second cyclone shot forward and rammed into the target, causing it to explode, small slivers of wood falling to the floor as Harry reigned in his magic.
Dumbledore grinned and removed the protection spells from the room and cleaned the remains of the four targets. “As I predicted, your magic is incredibly strong. It didn’t take long for you to learn how to use the magic, so that is a good sign.” he said, nodding to his students. “That’s it for today, but I want you back here after classes tomorrow to start on discovering your other abilities.”
“But professor, how will we be able to cast spells in class?” Hermione asked, standing up. “Will we even be able to?”
“As long as you reign in your magic and only allow small amounts of magic to pass through your shields at a time, then you should be alright.” Dumbledore replied, leading them out of the room. “I suggest that you practice that this evening, so that you will be ready for tomorrow.”
Harry and the others nodded and watched as Dumbledore walked off down the hallway. They turned and made their way back to their rooms in silence, each of them thinking of what they had all accomplished. When they finally got back to their common room, it was Ron who broke the silence.
“That was bloody amazing.” he smiled, slumping down on the sofa. Hermione laughed and settled down beside her boyfriend. Harry and Draco, on the other hand, were too caught up in each other to really notice the other two.
“How are you feeling, love?” Harry asked, pulling the blonde into a hug.
“Harry, if you ask me if I’m alright once more I’m going to string you up by your underwear.” Draco replied, glaring at the man holding him.
Harry chuckled. “I missed you this morning.”
“Missed you, too.”
Glancing over at the clock, he discovered that it was after eight o’clock. “How about we go to bed a little earlier tonight?” he whispered, kissing and licking a trail up Draco’s neck.
“Mmm. That’s an idea.” Draco moaned. “But what about Ron and Hermione?”
Harry glanced over his shoulder and saw Ron and Hermione tangled up on the couch, snogging like there was no tomorrow. “I doubt they’d notice if we left.” he chuckled, resuming his task of pleasuring his lover. “So how about it?”
“As long as you keep doing that, I’ll do anything that you want.” Draco replied, huskily.
