Chapter 9 Confessions
“I’m so sorry, Headmaster. I don’t know what I was thinking. How could I have ever done something so stupid?”
“Now, now my girl. Calm down. Sometimes these things happen when a young woman comes in contact with man of power. But we can fix the problem. Maybe even use the situation to our advantage.”
“I deserve to be punished. How can you even tolerate my presence?”
“Don’t be ashamed, child. You were taken advantage of, your position abused, and I will personally see to it that he pays.”
There was a knock on the door, and the Headmaster gave the girl a small smile as he passed her to open it.
“Professor Dumbledore. I need to report a situation to you that happened in my classroom today,” Professor Snape said as he stepped inside the office door. He stopped short when he saw the girl in the office.
“Oh yes, Severus. I know all about it. We’ve just been having a conversation about you and your actions,” the Headmaster said as he walked back to his desk.
Thinking quickly as he looked at the girls tear stained face, Professor Snape said, “Sir, I must tell you that this young woman made advances towards me which I rebuked. What she tells you now are most probably lies.”
“Oh, I’ve already made up my mind about what she has told me. But there is more to her story than just what has happened between you two,” Professor Dumbledore said.
“More? What else has she told you?” Professor Snape asked.
“Much more than what you know. Apparently, this situation has gone farther than I could have ever imagined.”
Professor Snape swallowed hard. This sounded bad, bad for him, his career and his reputation.
“What are you talking about Headmaster?”
“Oh, I think we’d better hear it from the source,” Professor Dumbledore said as he turned to look at the girl. “Tell us the whole story, Myrtle.”
